  1. Oliver with the main group, as is Grundy. Those doing there own warm ups include, Tmac, Spargo, Hibbo, Friitta, BBB, and J.Smith. All in runners except BBB. Rehab, is K.Turner. Spargo, BBB, J.Smith, and Tmac, join the main group. Now, Hibbo has joined. Schache, with the main group. Petty, is doing his own program. They have put a barbecue on for staff, the kids and I assume anyone else.
  2. We don't play a tempo style game. When we get the ball, it seems we go, go, go. Makes it physically demanding for the players, given how hard we two-way run by being a good transition team. Need to play smart when we have the ball, search for the best, or at least, an unpredictable corridor. Pass the ball round a bit, if an angle off the line isn't clear, then stretch the opponents. When they find space, then go fast. Otherwise, we just go into the walls, as our runners are closed down and pressured by being outnumbered. That forces us to panic with the into 50 arc delivery, and allows the opposition defenders to easily pick the leads. They need to be better at creating space, getting overlaps, finding gears (slow, medium and fast), and forming a swarm.
  3. AFL Training Sessions MFC National Reconciliation Week Open Training Date: Monday, May 29, 2023 Time: 11.30am - 12pm Location: Gosch's Paddock Posted on: https://www.melbournefc.com.au/teams/training-times
  4. Disappointed in our forward line delivery. Our strategy seems to be bomb it in, hope for a mark (no one is getting to the drop of the ball, hitting the pack from the side, or they compete againsteach other). They can't be hoping for a front and centre small, as there isn't anyone positioned well enough, or our smalls are also competing for the the mark. No change of angles off the line, or switching. That over handballing, as well as balls to players under pressure, I don't get it! The runners need to be moving to space not to the congestion. Gee, we didn't use the space the MCG offers very well. Nearly stole it again, but our process and structures to finish off close games is not good enough. Why not play the entire game with the sought of endeavour they show, when it is ten minutes to go. Our defensive structures keep us close, though difficult, when ineffective when we had the ball, and Waly was getting multiple entries, causing them to struggle.
  5. Noticed Oliver on Gosch's as I walked into the game today. Clayton was running and kicking with a trainer. Working his way all over the paddock. Good signs I reckon.
  6. Want to see us play on the edge for the entire match, hard, fast, smart footy. Plenty of tackling pressure, hunting and creative handballing and kicks. They will not give the backline easy intercepts, as the Waly's are good at not kicking down the line of the goals. Hope to see our defence being more one on one and accountable. Small forwards need to kick a handful. Go Dees.
  7. I thought he was referring to Casey, and dazzle sparkling in that game.
  8. https://concreteplayground.com/melbourne/travel-leisure/caulfield-racecourse-reserve-looks-set-to-be-revitalised-as-a-public-park-and-recreation-space The article suggest that Caulfield racecourse has $500 million allocated. "Back in 2018, the Victorian Government committed $1 million towards developing the strategy and managing the reserve, which is one of the largest open public spaces south of the CBD. The Melbourne Racing Club is putting $285 million towards the precinct's racecourse-related improvements." I assume the other $215 million is Government. No mention of MFC.
  9. All the sessions on Gosch's have been very short, this season. Players make themselves available for selfies and signatures. The main training, where the sims occur, patterns of play can be interpreted and the players go into their associated lines, are all at Casey (which is closed to the public). It is unfortunate for those interested in observing proper/full session.

  11. No. Perhaps if he puts his knee's into Gawn as he tries to leap over him. I enjoy watching ex MFC players go round. Applauded Frosty in his 150, and will applaud the execution of good skills, by any player. I guess that originates from our lean years, and making the most of the entertainment aspects.
  12. The plan for Caulfield racecourse has been released. Nothing about MFC, though they indicate there is scope for sporting and cultural developments. https://concreteplayground.com/melbourne/travel-leisure/caulfield-racecourse-reserve-looks-set-to-be-revitalised-as-a-public-park-and-recreation-space
  13. I think it does mean you cannot go. Received an email from the club, indicating that I needed to get a seat.
  14. I have never been to it. Assume you can look through the fence, if they don't want you inside. On the MFC website, it states that they are closed sessions. Perhaps someone like "picket fence", may be better suited for information.
  15. My guess would be; Captain's Run, Friday 9.30 am, at Gosch's. Wednesday at Casey, 9.30 am. (As yet, no information has been posted by the club)
  16. The clubs physio was right next to him at the time, guiding him through the process. Also, feeling the area where the leg bone meets the hip bone, at the front. After this assessment, he went and did some short easy run throughs with some sideways movement. Talked to the physio, and after putting on an elastic support, had numerous (at least 10), slowish, 50 meter timed run throughs.
  17. First out and last off the paddock.
  18. Fritta didn't do too much at training. Some work with the resistance band, and leg stretches. This has been his normal weekly preparation for some time now.
  19. No, more the front of it. Started with some stretches, hip raises. I have included a sketch.
  20. Petty was in rehab, doing simple exercises, no running.
  21. Had a chat to to a volunteer after the session. He reckons Oliver, will be out for 4 weeks, JJ or Harmes to come in, and that Dunstan is still struggling with his knee.
  22. He is moving OK, but only short movements. No strapping and feeling the top of his left quad. Scared and fell I'm imposing if I take his attention away from what he is doing. Oliver has entered the field, doing some resistance work and also going a bit harder. Now a bit more, does some switching with his steps, looking comfortable, all smiles, and Petty who is close by gives him a hug. He has put on a stretch strapping and doing some slow 50 meter run throughs under a timer. Carrying a ball, doing small kicks, Tracc has a hand slap with him, looking positive and on the low side of grading.
  23. Took a while to spot him, Dunstan is in full training mode. I think they are testing him out physically. One of the last to leave the paddock, after doing some low ball gets.
