  1. I'd allocate OMac an immediate F or worse...
  2. For starters, I'd see him as a half-fwd flanker with an eye for some midfield duties in the clearances receivings....
  3. Possibly, Papley may be capable of: (1) form and consistency improvements, and (2) changing the effectiveness of our goal-scoring and forward line in general. However, what is there to say about the young 'uns that we attracted last year - a swathe of smalls each attracting comments to indicate goal-scoring aptitudes - and of these new players, surely we must have some confidence in their improvements for 2020 and beyond, and start working (developing) them into training regimens for such an outcome prior to the season beginning. A great forward is for pick 3, not for a small.
  4. Just returned from Russia and China ... what good news to come home to ... he'd be a real asset the the Dees some of the '...just what is needed...' outside and forward line assets. Can see him teaming up well by foot, too; might herald the end of the era for long bombs.
  5. Run to space, be it frontal, sideways or backward. Anticipate to create. Drop the Jones/Viney/Clarry 'bomb' syndrome.
  6. Seems as though most of the jury is justifiably content with such an assessment. Cam was the man, when he was required as most other pillars failed.
  7. There's no place like home for Fritta. Bayley Fritsch reflects on his own season + getting back to playing as a forward. There are a 'few' other points that the DL brains trust have been attempting to get through to Goodwin and the MFC Board for some time; Fritta - playing as a forward - is just one of hundreds of these insights.
  8. Almost a non-event in this household - been that way for quite a few weeks, now - off o/seas in minutes. If we do not get rid of Goodwin, OMac (x 2) and Viney, the levels of current interest will not change, just like the pre-determined rejection of an MFC Membership for next year. Depressing, disloyal, selfish and morally gnarled as it might be, I feel justified after supporting this Club since 1956 (my earliest memory of 'supporter-status') to only one premiership back in '64; but, it is more than a mere premiership, isn't it?
  9. If the head aches, the body suffers...
  10. Not Schoenmakers, too old, not that great, loses his bearing for half a game quite regularly.
  11. He does move beautifully and kicks with a natural style rather well.
  12. Oscar Mc ain't up to it - and so Tom Mc ain't interested if his brother doesn't get a game? He has stated that in the past.
  13. A merger is on the cards? Footscray, North, Hawthorn, whoever?
  14. Brisbane for me, too. Just a dream but their form is almost complete. Will miss the finals - because the Dees are not there this year after such early-season anticipation ... still, I will be boarding the Trans-Siberian railway in Moscow for Vladivostok, then China by air within seven days ... so it will be a good distraction from the season horribilis. Enjoy the finals, folks and dream.
  15. Getting it correct, not extending or further enhancing a millstone around the MFC neck, attracting patrons and patronage, and creating a recognised mecca for the public that is not so dependent on gambling opportunities is a very big expectation. Has the time for Club-related venues run its course? Is such a venue really necessary?
  16. It is busy and crazy, and confusingly unreliable. Send out The Ox and Davey - go north, south, east and west. Pick us another Ox, another Davey and while you're at it, another Neitz. There must be a Tulip hiding in the local leagues, as well. Find him.
  17. I lived and grew up in Malvern and once built, I frequented that shopping centre just off Glenferrie Road, on Wattletree Road. Earl was regularly seen standing in his sports store, which was empty. In fact, I do not recall ever seeing a customer there - and I visited the place twice weekly, at least. However, I did recognise Earl immediately - quite a figure of the football genre -- and always had a private interest in '...how business was doing...' I recall, I thought that he would definitely go broke very soon - if he was the owner/franchisee and actually made an effort to get some sneakers there, once or twice. Big fella. Reminded me of the old MSD sports stores days in so many ways but in particular, a footballing icon at call.
  18. Thanks for the confirmation, Rusty; some may have thought that I was otherwise sprouting on the past.
  19. He was an inaccurate kick for goal. Had a loop in his kicking leading to a hook and slice across a distance.
  20. Posited beautifully, beelzebub. A great deal of rational thought.
  21. ^ Sob! ^ If only TMac would lead from full forward. A propping forward is lucky, not determined.
  22. A saving grace for OMac possibly, but it would have to be trialled for half the season at Casey first. It may work - provided he doesn't aim to ignite the forward line with his blistering leads and rugged forward defensive pressure.
  23. Walker actually doesn't have these to give! If he wasn't a media-star in his own teacup, he'd have been passed over a few years ago.
  24. Too right. Being lean and mean, himself, a lightweight-easily-knocked-out-of-position type forward- mid-fielder -backman, these positionings of which you refer, and his jumps timings, and his nouse of 'when to kick the ball earned in general play' were magnificent so his teachings to guys like Fritsch and Tracca, and Salem and Oliver/Gus would be invaluable. Of course, mental acuity would form part of that learning - something that our 'game plan' seems to lack.
  25. I would be very confident in saying that firstly, he would be great in the coaching department and secondly, Yze was always going to come back to the MFC after his playing career when such newer skills, to him, were developed so that he could make a positive input to the Club we all love. By hell, he was a good player and for just that alone, could remedy our team across the summer.
