Petracca wants to start in the guts.
As long as TMAC doesn't indulge in drunken midnight bushwalking, we'll probably be alright.

Ollie Wines
Why not both? If we're into Ollie Wines, then i'd think he would be viewed as an upgrade on Tyson, Brayshaw, Salem or ANB. And that's who we'd trade for him with a draft picks. If we were good enough to make the finals this year, but limited in what we could serve up and subsequently departed in week 1 or week 2, then we'd be looking to upgrade on the firepower at our disposal imo. Have to be ruthless with who we'd need to give them. As for outside run, i don't see many that are worth too much, and we'd only need to arrange the cap space and lose something not really that valuable in terms of draft pick/trade or get them through free agency. I think this year may reveal a few list suprises that could cover for this supposed dire need for outside run too. Edit: The club used the sample principle in acquiring Harrison Petty, pick quality if its available. Work out how to shuffle around the rest of the list after.

Are we ready? Rory Sloane
Whether we're past going for a big fish depends on how well we do this year. Tyson, Brayshaw, Salem etc. Plenty of players could be on the chopping block to make cap space for our homegrown & a big fish if available, if we are still around the 7-10 mark and have a weak final (if we make finals) - Optimistic we'll exceed 7th and will not need to chase Sloane. Luke Dalhouse is a free agent this year, perhaps we'll be more in need of the cream on top of the cake type player.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - HARRISON PETTY
I don't know what all the petty arguing is about. He looks good. Dynamic and proactive!

Welcome to Demonland: Bayley Fritsch
Maybe the shoe will be on the other foot: "Gee, Port Adelaide really missed out by trading out pick 31" every time Fritsch takes a mark or kicks a goal? Anyway, next year is not the year to decide one way or the other.

So we are in the box seat to pick him up when he wants to home? http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/brisbane-lions-weigh-up-draft-bolter-with-top-pick-over-favourite-cameron-rayner/news-story/bb9562d5c91ee1b6bd410fb9de604fb7- Welcome to Demonland: Jake Lever

Re Gibbs: Easy to take a paycut when youve been earning 500-600k for 5 years and 400 or so the 5 years earlier and have probably made smart financial investments. A career ending injury wont put a dent in his bank account. And Tex taking a paycut? Easy to do when you've got a career lined up post-footy due to captaincy and ironically getting a payed radio spot (Outside the cap) to spout this nonsense. Tex is a fool if he thinks that their underpayment policy was going to work for a kid that gets rival offers that value his ability and get him to come home. Easier to point the blame at others, rather than your own salary cap manipulating tactic coming back to bite you in the ass.- Welcome to Demonland: Jake Lever
It doesn't put them on an equal pedestal at all, Rance is a "4 time AA FB" and we lost an AA FB. The Frawley topic only came about due to a discussion over Motlops compensation. 3 years pertains to the time we've spent without a full back (Or elite defender) that fits into our planning going forward (ie not Dunn) and only now have we addressed a deficiency that our list management have said was our key priority. Has nothing to do with not getting over losing Frawley, just a realisation that his leaving did actually set us back which doesn't seem to be discussed around these days.- Welcome to Demonland: Jake Lever
Was discussing the loss of Frawley and compensation pick value (They think he wasn't worth 3) and realised that Lever coming to us really is closure on the whole sorry saga of losing an AA FB and having to play 3 years without one and not being able to negate key forwards.- Welcome to Demonland: Jake Lever
I dunno, usually you postpone the (Adelaides) grand final rematch until later in the year.- Welcome to Demonland: Jake Lever
GWS are not accepting 40 for Nathan Wilson but are asking Freo to give them 15-20. I wonder if the pick 18/2018 1st we get back from Adelaide can be used in conjuction with the pick to get Balic so we can get a Fremantle player like Lachie Neale/Weller or another. Not too familiar with their list though and doubt they would have much.- Welcome to Demonland: Jake Lever
You could say he's 2015 QB Adam Oxley-like- Welcome to Demonland: Jake Lever
If thats a reason to not find a 2018 first round, then it could also be a reason not to recruit him. But cmon, bit disingenuous as lever is clearly a 21yo thats all about potential. He's tracking better than Rance at the same age. I think its justified in doing the 2018 1st pick and getting something back because its not solely about the intercept role. The Lever trade fills 3 holes. It pushes Tmac fwd and hibbo or hunt onto wing. We might have to pay more than 10 + 2018 2nd, but its worth it in the grand scheme of the team dynamic.- Welcome to Demonland: Jake Lever

I thought it was telling when Tex said "we hope he makes the right decision and stays" two months back in the media. The bloke sees in b/w and thinks his beliefs are the only correct ones. Clearly doesnt respect that other people have different views and values. Its a "my way or the highway" kind of egotistical caustic leadership. Thats what you get when you promote a dingbat with a mullet into a captain.- Welcome to Demonland: Jake Lever
Adel chose to not trade a player last year to be able to afford to put a bigger offer to lever that might value him as two first round picks. Instead they offered 530 in the old cba and whinged that he'd be the highest paid player if offered more. Meanwhile theyre stacked with players that delivered a minor premiership. They want their cake and to eat it too. Adel think their paycut system where stars play for peanuts is some kind of morally upstanding system. No, its trying to rig the cap so they stay at the top and never come down. Its a smart thing to do, but it squeezes out players who actually realise they deserve a better pay deal and can get it at a middle tier side that actually deserves young talent to join them and help them rise up the ladder. - Andrew Brayshaw
