  1. I'll definitely be cheering on Columbia over England in the "easy bracket" now so it backfires, and Belgium over Japan and Brazil after todays time wasting to eliminate the poor sengalese!
  2. Understandable last 10 minutes with Japan passing it around back. But for Poland to barely give chase at 1-0 and not seek to give their fans some exciting moments before they depart (Like Korea did) was just poor attitude and offensive to watch. Glad we've seen the back of Poland. Hope the Netherlands and Italy return in 4 years in their place. As for yellow cards? I reckon that's 'fair', so long as reffing is consistent, more yellows usually means you've illegally stymied opposition attacks with sloppy defence.
  3. Yeah that was such a fantastic set of games. Ending was pandemonium The mexican fans all biting their nails and looking at their phones in the crowd in the last 20 mins lol this world cup has been amazing. Lots of good goal replays and discussions over on www.reddit.com/r/soccer Check out the sheer joy of the Korean broadcasts: https://streamable.com/9cwhq goal 1 w/ var https://streamable.com/cjij3 Goal 1 /w var https://streamable.com/5xhap goal 2 https://streamable.com/h1ygm goal 2
  4. As an underdog supporter. Today was dissapointing. i was rooting for Nigeria or Iceland, but as is always the case in sport and politics lately, nothing went my way! Argentina scoring a goal right at the end to beat Nigeria is like Joel Selwood kicking a goal after the siren to beat an underachieving team like Freo, who i'd prefer to see go further than Geelong. Anyway, no matter how much we dominate possession and have our oppurtunities, i still don't think we deserve much credit. If the oppositions aim is just to take a lead and defend it, then what we do after they score means nothing if we don't equalize or win. Peru put on a masterclass in taking their opportunities and i was happy for their fans. A shame they didn't draw Denmark. Many people saying we deserved more, but i disagree. So now we're 5 goals conceded from this WC. 9 goals in 2014, 6 goals in 2010. I still think i would have preferred to be following a tight defensive team like Iran no matter how little ball they had. They kept in each match. Conceding only two goals and being 1 shot and 1 point away from the 16. An epic performance with Portugal and Spain in their group.
  5. Iran have been my favourite neutral team to watch so far. Doing the best with what they've got, holding the dam wall and counterattacking. I can't believe they had that shot on goal at the end. It felt like scoring 2 goals against Portugal was a 1% chance when Portugal were all over them hogging possession at 1-0. It's absurd that they nearly won that game. I kind of wish we had a team that barely concedes a goal each world cup, gives you more of a chance at progressing if you take your oppurtunities. here we are against Peru, and even if they score 1 goal, we're up against it to progress at 2-1 with our goal difference, hoping france who've been unremarkable, smash denmark... But... I reckon France might even not go for the big win because they hate us after the physical first game. Happy to tie i bet. At 0-0 or 1-0 both teams might park the bus knowing our match is close. ?
  6. I just had a depressingly hilarious stat spring up into my mind: Will we end up having the highest % for a team that's missed the 8 (If we miss) - That is one record that nobody wants to ever have.
  7. Wow. Germany with the late free kick goal. Poor Sweden. Another great game. Gee this world cup is really kicking the AFL's arse for spectacle. Every one of them entertaining in the least and gripping, intense and nail biting at best. Loving the fluidity of ball movement.
  8. Goody has a bit of work to do if he's going to beat Chris Scott. I do think we can match them everywhere else around the ground though.
  9. next 3 matches have come at best possible time to get momentum again and give us a 2nd chance to springboard off it with a more gelling 22 to take on the good teams
  10. Adel and Gws will be interesting . If we get job done on 4 bottom sides, then those 2 games are big.idstill think hawks, gws or kangas will lose some unexpected games and we will do enough without beating wcesydgeel. Best one of them and top 4 or 5/6 is still possible
  11. bloody kruze, every first touch seemed a metre too far and easily blocked and turned over
  12. I loved the match last night, it was so gripping on TV. I don't know much about soccer, but i found this game like a game of Chess. Only one opponent is chasing the King to get a check-mate for half an hour and the other is running away/holding tight defensively one queen down. Even though Iran had some great look ins and should've equalized. Just a very dramatic tense match. Low scoring tight contests have their own beauty compared with the free flowing goaled games, in AFL too.
  13. I thought Sloane said "we're not mates bernie" to the adelaide trainer in a dazed state of concussion? ?
  14. We'll be perfectly prepared for the Alice game with the overhanging tree in the pocket
  15. Maybe he'll whisper his intentions into the ear of an opponent in round 22
  16. i'm hoping that we can snag a 'season defining win' against the odds v WCE/SYD/GEEL like we have done in the last few years ( v Geelong 15', v Hawthorn 16', v Adel/WCe 17') - At least that will offset any potential hiccup against Adel or GWS, and if none, then we're back in top 4 contention. All the other games should be in the bag for the quality of footy we've produced so far providing we cover for Lever.
  17. Toumpas in for Wines too please. No point playing a bloke who wants to be a Dee
  18. Going by your ladder, you think two wins over Freo and WB is wildly optimistic to go from 13/7 to 15/7? Those two games are already penciled as far as I and most fans are now concerned based on the last 7 weeks as evidence. It's the Port, Adel & GWS clashes that I think will determine if we make the 8. Geel/WCE/SYD you'd have to have down as losses, but even if we still lose to one of Port/Adel/GWS, we can win one back against the odds like in Geelong or come out and systematically shut down the Sydney game plan at the G (And take out Buddy behind the play)
  19. 1.West Coast 19 3 0 130.6% 2. Richmond 18 4 0 140.0% 3. Sydney 17 5 0 124.5% 4. Geelong 16 6 0 132.5% 5. Collingwood 16 6 0 116.7% 6. Melbourne 15 7 0 129.3% 7. Port Adelaide 15 7 0 122.9% 8. North Melbourne 14 8 0 123.8% 9. Hawthorn 14 8 0 109.5% 10. GWS 11 10 1 107.2% 11. Adelaide 9 13 0 96.5% I'm being overly optimistic but I think we can win against Port, Adelaide & GWS, and win the other expected games. We may drop one and go 6/4 and end up 8th or 9th. Match vs Port is crucial. Geel, WCE & Sydney should be the only games we're just not good enough to win, and even if we snag one, cant possibly add a W in terms of ladder probability. If GWS turn it on, this ladder will look a little different. should probably give it another go.
  20. I did notice him quite upset with himself when he missed the shots on the footy show. Not a big deal, but did remind me of how young he is. Reminded me of the Hogan from two years back, losing confidence and getting down on himself. A bit harder to see it on game day compared with Hoges though
  21. They hired a fox footy boundary rider for a goal kicking coach.
  22. I think we can all get behind the Lachie Weller precedent for a potential Dom Tyson trade. I just hope the club would pick the next Josh Kelly though this time ?
  23. Yeah. But I suppose they couldn't have gone with the 'carlton should chase Garlett' story if they're raffling players not in our 22 for news lol
  24. What about TMAC & OMAC, Aren't they related to DMAC?
