Sylvia misses again from 50. Inaccuracy isn't helping given how rarely we venture forward.
-
Another turnover inside 50. Not improving much.
-
7 free kicks to 12. Another free inside 50. SEN reckon they've kicked all but one of their goals from a free kick, 50 metre penalty or turnover inside 50.
-
Scully standing out at the moment. 11 disposals. A good passage of play ends with Bate who misses. Needs to lift does Bate, just his second touch. Moloney only 3 disposals and Sylvia 5. They dominated last week and really led our charge, this week can't buy a touch.
-
Get my hand off what? Where did I say he's the reason we're losing, or is even having a bad game? Last week and so far this week he's done a few selfish things, gone one-handed some times, hasn't had second efforts, those kind of things. Certainly not our worst.
-
Bruce turns it over 25 metres out from Fremantle's goal. Terrible and typical.
-
In inheriting Robertson's 24 he's also inherited some of Robbo's lesser qualities. A little too selfish IMO at the moment.
-
Watts at FF on McPharlin. Nice goal to Bennell but needs to do more.
-
Scully and (it pains me to say this) Johnson are probably our only highlights. Need to ditch the loose man tactic, man up the Fremantle defenders, get Green in the forward line, stop pushing the forwards into defence, and of course wake up.
-
Why is Green playing midfield? He kicked 5 goals last week, dominated as a forward, has 36 goals for the year, and we start him on a wing/half-back. Not happy with that. Also not happy with the loose man in defence. Why did we drop Morton to work on aggression and defensive work if we're going to give him the easiest job in football (loose man in defence)? It's not having an infleunce on the game; in fact it's hurting us as McPharlin is loose for Freo and he's mopping up our inside 50s.
-
Inside 50s: 16-9.
-
When we win (or at least play well) we kick it more than we handpass. Right now it's 35-35. When we over-handpass it we struggle.
-
Fremantle's goals: 1 from a 50. 1 from a turnover. 2 from free kicks. 1 when the defence was asleep. Frustrating stuff.
-
Spanking coming up here. No pressure. Little intensity. Not enough inside 50 entries, and when we do go inside we turn it over because they have a loose man, as do we, but theirs is actually having an effect. And senior players struggling. Fremantle are good but not this good. And we're a lot better than this.

No, what I'm saying is that one swallow does not make a summer, and over the rest of the season Green has been as good, if not better, than LeCras, and that overall Green has had a better year.
-
Green > LeCras. One game of 12 goals, whilst spectacular, does not constitute All Australian selection.
-
Agree, we're close to full strength at the moment. Gysberts IMO isn't best 22. To get the others in, Johnson, MacDonald and two of Jones, Bartram or Bennell could make way to fit Grimes, Trengove, Petterd and McDonald.

Don't think that's entirely true, they ditched the North Melbourne because they thought rebranding as just Kangaroos would have wider appeal. Arguably did more damage than if they'd just stayed as North Melbourne. Their existence is still on a knife's edge though. According to The Age they're looking to sell games to Hobart (apparently so are we).

Well maybe if some other people cared to contribute to the discussion... I'm also quite bored without uni. It's amazing how during the exam period I can find a million different ways to procrastinate but as soon as the exams are over there seems to be nothing to do except post repeatedly about cricket. Meanwhile, North's taken 6 wickets. He's on the Lord's honour board. How odd. 11 of the 20 wickets we took went to Watson and North, so there's still work to be done with our bowlers. Johnson and Bollinger were largely ineffective.
-
They're still the Kangaroos. He was just trying to reclaim the supporters who weren't happy with the direction the club was going in. Part of that was staying in Melbourne, part of that was returning to North Melbourne. It's not unfashionable, it's who they are. At the time the club's stance was firmly that they were going to stay as who they are and not sell their soul for stability. Thus as well as staying here, they re-took the North Melbourne. The Kangaroos stand-alone name didn't work anyway.
-
Exactly what I wanted to see. Bail and Morton in, Trengove (well not, Trengove being out) and Cheney out.
-
Pakistan 1/114 chasing 440 for victory. We were bowled out for 334 with Hilfenhaus (yes, Hilfenhaus) making 56 not out (quite unbelievable really) and Bollinger making 24 (his highest score as well). You'd think that 440 is too much for Pakistan but they've got a good platform, and when the sun comes out at Lord's and the ball stops swinging it's a good batting track. Steven Smith will need to add to his tally of 1 wicket if the swing isn't there. Since the start of the Australian summer Katich has made 8 scores between 79 and 99, with two centuries. That's both a model of consistency and a frustratingly poor conversion rate.

We seem to be well towards the bottom for junior members, but we're 11th overall. We're also last in 'concessions', whatever they are. We're above the Bulldogs, Brisbane, Sydney, North Melbourne and Port Adelaide. Adelaide, Carlton, North Melbourne, Port Adelaide and Richmond all suffered decreases in membership. We had a 5.88% increase on last year's figure. http://www.afl.com.au/news/newsarticle/tabid/208/newsid/98326/default.aspx

1. Hannebery 2. Rockliff 3. Trengove Martin would win it if he wasn't ineligible. Naitanui will, totally undeservedly, poll votes from journalists who don't do their homework and just assume. Stratton the flavour of the month. Can't see his form keeping up nor him polling many votes.

Good post. Great post, actually, as it highlights how much of a footballer Green is. The bounces stat to me is significant, as a player like Jack Riewoldt isn't going to take a lot of bounces in the goalsquare, so it shows that Green is working up the ground, playing across half back or on a wing, and giving the team run through the middle, whilst still being seventh in the Coleman.
