  1. How is 'Goidwin' mentioning things any different to Ratten doing it?
  2. Firstly, he can talk about it all he wants. It won't change their skill level. What happens on the track and then on gameday is what counts. Let's see if talking about it has any impact. Secondly, Goodwin has mentioned it before as someone quoted above.
  3. Plus Jones is on far less than his previous contract. I agree others would be on more too, but we have certainly opened up more room for this off season.
  4. True. But that's the same for any player you chase. If we do get him in free agency, then I think it's a shrewd piece of business for the club.
  5. He will be a good get for free. If he works out then it's a win, if he doesn't then we didn't lose a thing really.
  6. Why do we need Wines? Serious question there. What does he add to our side that we don't already have?
  7. Yeah, those posters having a go should completely lay off. It's a disgrace. Stop picking on WYL everyone! It's not nice!
  8. Binman would be happy to admit that I'd win that swordfight.
  9. I'm one of those, but wouldn't the pre-season we had go hand in hand with what is happening now? Clearly we made some major errors over the 2019 pre-season and we are now making changes to rectify the situation, both on and off the field. These changes are no surprise to me, and are welcomed, based off many aspects, one of which was how poor that pre-season was. It should never have happened that way.
  10. My sources tell me we're planning on playing 22 players in Round 1. Now THAT is ground breaking stuff.
  11. I would have thought that, had it been a major issue before, it would have been stopped long before now. Viney was there when Paul Roos was coach and it didn't seem to worry him too much. I just don't think the conflict of interest was close to being anything more than a minor issue at best.
  12. Spot on, ADCAG. Supporters at the moment want change, and rightly so, but it means we want the club to be keen on anyone and everyone. That won't happen - we will be lucky to get 2 - 3 players through trades/free agency who will slot in as best 22 players. We can't put time into every single player who might be looking at new opportunities.
  13. I'm also hopeful that we add Yze to the coaching mix as well. While we're hoping for a few wins in terms of the players we bring in, I think our biggest change for 2020 may be what happens off the field.
  14. I'd be interested in that, too. I think with Goodwin, Mahoney and Pert still there, that is a good nucleus to present to players. They could also put forward that, as a club, 2019 was totally unacceptable and we knew that changes needed to be made. We need changes both on and off the field, and we are doing that. Then again, I could be talking out of my back pocket as I have no real idea what goes on behind closed doors. I know McCartney was offered a deal to stay but wanted to move on to new things, but the others might have been a mutual thing to help refresh the club as a whole.
  15. For a first round pick? No. For a second round pick? No. For a third round pick? Maybe.... We don't need him, as we have enough of his type, and Port wouldn't sell him cheap. There are other areas we need to address and this isn't one of them.
  16. There has been no indication that it ever was a conflict of interest. You would like to think that Todd is professional enough to not allow that to happen. I'd wager that, if it did, then Peter Jackson would have stepped in to remove him from the role a long time ago. Either way, we will agree to disagree on that point. One thing we do agree on is that it's a positive move for the club. Todd has been there long enough. Time for some fresh faces.
  17. Sorry, I don't know why that happened. I didn't actually mean to do that. My point is that I don't think Jack has been given special treatement, and nor do I believe we make decisions based on the fact Todd is at the club. There has been no proof of there being a conflict of interest. When Jack was made a co-captain, I believe most at the time would have been very happy with that decision. He hasn't set the world on fire during his time in the role, but there have been little else to choose from previously.
  18. While I don't necessarily agree with the last dot point, I agree thoroughly that it was time for him and others to move on. Rawlings has been here long term, and McCartney had been with us for 5 years as well. I think the club as a whole needs some fresh faces and I'm all for the changes that are happening. We need to make the right choice with replacements, but I think this is a terrific start.
  19. Even a broken clock is right twice a day.
  20. Well, we wanted to see some change. The club is certainly meeting us halfway. I'm happy with all these changes IF we are smart enough to hire the right replacements. With his experience in the industry, I think Richo is a step in the right direction. I'm very keen to see where we go from here.
  21. It's fun, Stuie. You should try it somet.... oh, yeah.
  22. You're in trouble now, EO. You've got both Saty AND WYL on your case.
  23. Hey WYL, serious question this time: With Rawlings and Jennings gone, should Goody pop the ghost of Norm Smith in the box with him? He might do wonders for our forward line. Hopefully Richo and Goody are up tonight watching the finals.
  24. After the year we had, change is a good thing. Rawlings has been at the club eight years. I think it was time for him to move on. He's done a variety of roles at the club during that time, but this gives us the opportunity to add a few fresh faces to go along with the addition of Richardson. I think it's a good move for all involved. How soon do we have the 'Welcome to Melbourne - Adem Yze' thread up and running?
