  1. Well Rhino, I don't think that I belong to any particular faction, on this particular topic anyway........ But I am going to admit to being a little excited to see some of our junior talent (bare in mind I am in Sydney) and see what we are developing for the the future. Now there are two ways of looking at these selections in that I would like to think that the club would in no way simply chuck these kids to the wolves without knowing that they were ready, physically, at the very least, and one would hope emotionally as well, to carry, among other things, the burden of our expectations. I would hate to see them play well, be inflated and then get torn down when they aren't able to back it up in games to come. The other side of the coin is that we are simply running out of options. As I said earlier there seems to be very little talent (or what is being regarded as useful talent anyway) sitting on the sidelines that is actually fit and healthy, thus there seems to be very little choice, especially in the midfield, than to debut someone. This may not be the perfect plan, but the plan has been blown to hell and there is little left. Hopefully it is not too much too soon. But I am with you in that I hope that they are ready (physically & emotionally) for the AFL and it is not going to be easy, but it is still important for the club to see what we have got for our future. And they probably would have played at some point this season, but given the injuries their chance got moved up. Unfortunately we seem to be in a "last man standing" situation !!!
  2. No I don't think so. And the blatant cruelty (not to mention the copious amounts of hypocrisy) in this thread is totally appalling.
  3. Or you will surely cry !!! Hopefully he will fully watchable again in a very short period of time.
  4. Thanks MFC...... That information is great to read !!!
  5. You personal dislike for a player does not mean he should have to finish his career in such a way. And it is a sad indictment on anyone who thinks that what happened, and is still happening, to Brown is what he deserves for changing clubs. No matter what that motivation was. Who are we to judge. You don't have to like it, but honestly if you can't at least understand it then reality is a very distant place.
  6. I agree with you belzebub........ I see these selections as a very positive, but rather uncharacteristic move from Daniher. Although considering the position we are in at the moment, if they didn't debut now, then when exactly would they have? Hopefully they really show something :D !!! I am looking forward to being at the SCG and watching the game on Saturday night with a fair amount of renewed optimism, not unnecessarily for a win (although that would be just grand) but for a glimpse at what we may be developing for the future. On the other side of the coin, I am genuinely sorry for The Bizz......... I was also hoping he would get at least some run in what will probably be his last year, as I have always been a fan of his. And while I didn't think his game was too bad last week, and that he showed more, composure at least, than a few others, the end really is nigh .
  7. I'm totally loving your optimism YM, especially in the face of everything........
  8. And heavens knows I hope you are right!!!
  9. My thoughts exactly Jay when I was reading that list......
  10. Bless you YM...... Please don't ever change your predictions !!!
  11. I'll make you a deal there jezza, Next time, I will drive out (its not that far) and pick you up, so that you can watch the Dees play !!!
  12. It's supposed to be pretty wet up here for the next couple of days as well, if anyone thinks that it could help at all !!! And I would hope that there is always a chance......
  13. Easier to get to?
  14. Into Sydney, it's live (or as close to live as they think they can get) on Channel 10. As are all Swans games on Saturday nights. And there is the later repeat on Fox.
  15. Apropos....... Green light for SCG set-up 26 April 2007 Herald-Sun Daryl Timms THE AFL and Channel 10 have given the SCG the all-clear for Saturday night's clash between Sydney and Melbourne. League and Ten officials did an after-dark inspection of the ground last week and deemed the four lighting towers and temporary banks would provide adequate light. Two of the stadium's six towers have been removed, along with the Doug Walters Stand, to prepare for a major redevelopment. The Swans will train under lights at the SCG tonight, while the Demons will have a short session tomorrow night. Channel 10's engineers tested the lightning, along with the AFL, and confirmed the lighting was at its usual reading. Extra lighting has been housed on a truck. http://www.heraldsun.news.com.au/footy/com...5E19742,00.html Hope this helps Jezza :D !!!
  16. Would that be anticipation or apprehension?!!! Although I am always excited to see the boys (whats left of them anyway) live at the SCG..... As it only happens once a year !!!
  17. I agree with you completely here Rhino......... These two have been truly excellent for the Saints and will probably continue to be for a while to come (although Dal Santo is out of contract this year) But it can make you weep sometimes !!!
  18. That may be all well and good, but do we actually have the luxury of that option now, given the current state of affairs? And he (or they) could have debuted at any time in the last four weeks we have been playing in Melbourne.
  19. I don't think he showed him up, but he did give a few "coaching" suggestions and they were dismissed through humour. The comments were not at all derogatory from either one, but from what I can remember they could have been useful. It was nothing more than an outsiders perspective, which is not a bad thing sometimes. !!!
  20. Well it was the first thing Richmond has won in a while, so points for that !!!
  21. Are we completely trusting Big Footy?
  22. You'd think Hamill would be a pretty good bet? Because accorrding to our friends over at Punt Road End, at 3pm today Wallace said that Brown was pain-free after a running session on Monday, but because it's been six weeks since his last game, the club will need to manage his return to action carefully. "I keep not wanting to put a time frame on these things, but we're hoping that over the next fortnight we can work him back up and hopefully we can see him back out there," Wallace said. Not really retirement talk? And frankly I really hope not.
  23. I truly hope not. I am a real fan of his. Although I can understand it if his leg is just not right and may never be..... But it would be a very unfortunate end to a career, and a massive loss of talent to the game .
  24. The SCG Trust didn't think that the removal of two light towers and the installation of temporary lighting would be an issue. The two light towers at the Randwick end were to be removed and temporary towers were to be brought in and the broadcasters were to do testing. The problem was that the SCG's neighbours, FOX Studios, refused to give permission to erect the temporary lighting fixtures on their grounds until match day. Therefore this was becoming an issue and the AFL was investigating. However everyone including AFL Ground Operations, the head of Fox Sports and the head of Channel 10 broadcasting inspected the venue with lighting experts last Saturday night, when the ground had the temporary lighting towers brought in and erected. It was given the all clear. Unlike the MCG, which would have had no problems with redevelopment or lighting simply because they have complete access around the exterior of their venue, while the eastern side and Randwick end of the SCG backs on to the Fox Studios lot. Fox owns the land and therefore the SCG Trust does not have access to the exterior of these areas without permission which it has trouble getting. So all work has to be done internally, which obviously makes it slower and more complicated. But in answer to the original question, as far as I know they tested the lights on the weekend and they got a tick of approval !!!
  25. Wishing you a very Happy Birthday Colin :D !!!
