  1. Ooh, Bode !!!
  2. Green for captain with Miller for his deputy. Leadership group that includes McLean, Rivers and Jones
  3. Tigers eye Schwab for retrurn
  4. I agree with the added incentive of this draft being the last uncompromised one but do you really think it comes down to simple choice of Bruce v Green (which it obviously doesn't and won't), but seriously if that is the way it is then my choice is still firmly with the latter to stay and lead. Besides you have no idea who we will keep and who we won't. We will lose a number of oldies through retirement, a couple of youngsters through delisting and probably a few in the middle though trade. And Green has done more than enough this season to, one win the B&F, and two maybe secede to the captaincy. You think that Green is expendable (I've more respect for his importance to us) and therefore should be the one sacrificed, I obviously don't especially given what I think he has to offer (and this is above a number of his peers as well) is hugely important especially now in our current state and will help to build our future.
  5. Ok I have read enough of this rubbish....... For starters no-one is happy with that, despite the fact if we even sniff finals next season it will be a miracle no matter whose leadership we are under, and if (and that is a pretty damn big and unlikely if) a magnificent trade option came our way then of course Green could be put on the table. But you are an idiot (and I don't say that lightly) if you think that now with all the re-building or re-shaping that we will be doing that Green's obvious skills, ever improving consistency and to this point outstanding on-field leadership aren't a huge plus as to why we should keep him then I seriously don't know what to say. Playing the kids is great, and necessary, but you can't just play kids, there does actually need to be some older (and 27 ain't that old plus he is most definitely part of the age bracket we are most deficient in), wiser and more experienced heads out there. Green has proven to be the best of those. Green has proved this year that he is by far our best option for captain at least in the near future as we try to build our list out of the muck. He took the initial set back of being dropped from the leadership group and made people (well sensible people) eat their words and has been one of maybe two or three who have consistently played their best and lead the team. And that includes the two that are currently sharing that coveted role. To me that shows a fantastic attitude (something Bailey seems to covet), coupled with his inarguable skill base it is by far the best option for him to stay.
  6. Oh I don't know Rogue, what do people actually think we could get for CJ !!!
  7. And now he is defending himself......... Harvey says he's no diver
  8. ......and that makes me feel a little old !!!
  9. Oh good lord  ......... Whether you have that opinion or not, the team should always come first, even if it means CJ gets traded. I think most in here will agree that while he has been great in recent times if a particularly juicy offer is put forward then his name could be looked at, but please dont see that as anyone (other than maybe Hannabal) wanting to see him traded, but that it all depends on what is on offer and what we need going forward.
  10. While I don't necessarily disagree with Dan here, I have a question....... Do we wait for and want players to improve so they play an effective role for us, or so we can parade then around as trade bait? There seems to be an overwhelming lean towards the latter here, and while I understand it in regards to where we are at the moment, it still is quite ridiculous to compliment a kid one day for doing a pretty good job, and then promptly look to shove him over the edge because of the same thing. To me a trade is about what we can get, and if a top notch offer which benefits the future of our club comes our way and Johnson has to go because of it then ok, but he has been good this year and, soft or not (cruel call H), he should be complimented for his vastly improved season not punished for it.
  11. Good summation D32 and very similar to my thoughts on Robbo........ But I was of the opinion that Robbo signed a two year deal at the end of 2007 and therefore next year is the last of his current contract. I'm probably wrong but can anyone clear this one up for me? Thanks in advance !!!
  12. The thing is he doesn't have a crack, at least not consistently........ He can go hard, but when it doesn't suit him he doesn't, and I'm sorry but that is not good enough and is becoming both annoying and is taking its toll. For me his skill base is not in question, nor is his apparent toughness, but it is his inconsistent form that seems to stem from poor attitude that worries the hell out of me. Now I was not enraptured with Dunn's game on the weekend, but please don't try to compare the two, you can say that Dunn was ordinary but Sylvia was no better. They were playing vastly different roles and Sylvia did not appear to give or even try to give anything near what he should have on Sunday. And that is not good enough and it is becoming all too common, unfortunately.
  13. Not surprising really, because after a good solid year last year he has struggled more this year........ But criticism of some is obviously more ok than others, and Belly is on the down side of that !!!
  14. FWIW........ 6. P Johnson 5. C Johnson 4. Valenti 3. Buckley 2. Miller 1. Jones
  15. Amen Jarka........ Cale was not great today, and has been a little chequered so far, but he had plenty of company at Subi this afternoon, unfortunately. But there is still plenty to like about his class and the fact that being young there is still plenty to learn and develop. But this may just be one of those cases that seems to occur too many times when we tend to expect way to much from our kids. Like if they don't walk into the side and dominate like they have been there for a decade then apparently they will never make it. My opinion is to never write anyone off this early (or becasue his brother can miss targets) !!!
  16. I will absolutely always defend Miller (who has needed and got plenty of it), Green, Bell, CJ and most others, excluding Yze, Bruce (frustrates the hell out of me), Robbo (despite loving him) and Sylvia (also frustrates the hell out of me). Of course that is not to say that I will attack these players either. And most of the kiddies are more or less immune !!!
  17. Deja vu!!!
  18. I admire the attitude Tooly, but honestly there wasn't huge amounts to get excited about !!!
  19. Sadly there is a huge gap between dominating (which I didn't expect) and him being just plain lazy...... He unfortunately seems to fall into the latter catagory, in that he just doesn't seem to work hard enough. I am willing to give him a few more games to see what he can improve on, but the all important work ethic just doesn't seem to be there. Which is staggeringly unfortunate given we know he has talent. Just my opinion !!!
  20. Oops sorry, fixed it now !!!
  21. 6. Miller 5. C. Johnson 4. Buckley 3. Valenti 2. Martin 1. running out of options but Davey, I guess!!! I also didn't hate Garland, I thought Morton showed some class and Jamar was encouraging.
  22. Whoever is left ........
  23. Yep he did, sort of although he did work very hard to try to get to the ball but........ Given we didn't have the ball to actually send anywhere near his direction at all for that time, having any substantive influence really does become problematic.
  24. Perfect summation of the day BBP........unfortunately !!!
  25. Wasn't it said (McNamee I think but don't quote me) that the awful silver thingy will never be seen or heard from again?
