POSTGAME: MS01 vs Adelaide
The club think highly of Spargo, so whilst some of the supporters on here don't, the club does. He'll be ok.

MFC Strategic Plan for Next 4 Years
Unfortunately I have to agree with you about Pert, I had a fairly lengthy conversation with him last year and was less than impressed, he was still talking about the training ground in the precinct when it was already a dead duck and everyone knew it. We should do whatever possible to get, no nonsense Peter Jackson back, whatever the cost. I trust him and what he says and if he can't do it he won't promise it. The problem we have is we are still part of the MCC and, whilst that has some financial benefit, it ties us to the Private School culture which we don't need. All the successful clubs have a bit of bastard in them, but we are just too nice and our players become too nice the longer they are with us. I want results, not just words that are designed to buy time for those in charge. I applaud the club for their statement, but doubt the capacity of those in charge to deliver.

Steven May Injury Update
I was just pointing out that having a knee drained is not a big issue, for Pickett's sake

Steven May Injury Update
Just been to see the Doc to get the results of an MRI I had on my knee on Friday and I appear to have a Gaglion (?) cyst, It's mainly fluid, that needs draining. It's pressing on a nerve in my knee and causing me a lot of discomfort but it's not a big issue. It will take a week or so to settle down and I guess the same rule applies to Steven.

AFLM?
Maybe the Women should create their own competition and just call it the WFL thereby freeing themselves of any male interference. They could fund it themselves and call their teams whatever they want, eventually, maybe, they could build stadiums.

Steven May Injury Update
I've had several arthroscopies on my knees and on one occasion i started to walk to early and my knee filled with fluid, it took quite a while and several drainings and injections of cortisone before it was ok again. It's not just a case of using an anti inflammatory you have to establish what the cause of the inflammation is and use the correct solution. I finally went to a rheumatologist and he sorted it, the other doctors didn't establish what the the inflammation was caused by, he did.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - HARLEY BENNELL
Why? Why put him under more pressure, I'm sure he's under enough already. This will ease his mind and allow him to concentrate on his football and not have to worry every day if he'll have a job in a few weeks. Would you like to live under that pressure?

Steven May Injury Update
The only thing I'm confident of is that you have no confidence in anything MFC. Yeah I know you've been following them for 250 years and have every reason to be lacking in confidence, but let's wait till the season starts before we call this season a failure.

How much will Melbourne improve in 2020??
The ones who don't win enough games. Every year it's a new ball game and if we win enough games to get in, does it bother you who drops out? I'm bullish this year and expect to make the top eight, if not top six.

TRAINING: Wednesday 11th December 2019
Neita's family own a Farm just up the road from where my brother lives in SA and he 's told me that they highly regard him over there and one of the local legends ( long term player) told him that he is the best player to come out of Centrals in his time. Ripper kid too.

WELCOME TO DEMONLAND - MITCH BROWN
Really? That's important to know. I was very concerned about the side, before the first game this year and I believed we had too many VFL players on the squad, we've eliminated quite a few of them and replaced them with AFL players. I think we've had a good draft/trade person and I'm now quite bullish about the upcoming season. We made the finals in 2006 and at the start of 2007 we were expected to play finals again, I looked at the side and just couldn't see it and by quarter time in the first game our season was over. That was the same feeling I had at the start of this years season. This time I think we've done a very good job of replacing those VFL players and we have a year in to the recruits we picked up last year, they will be the better for it. Weideman cops heaps on here but I have faith in him, he's only 22 and most big forwards take a while to hit their straps, I know he can play and it's now a matter of him putting it together consistently. He had problems with injuries and confidence, his contract and the [censored] he copped on social media, that plays a big part in young players of today. I'm rapt in the recruits we have and we've finally added some excitement to the team, Jackson be a revelation as will Kossie, Rivers will do a good job of replacing Young and will surprise a few. The view we have of some of the players is not shared by the club, players like Spargo are highly regarded by the club but some posters on here want them sold off to the lowest bidder. Hopefully after we win a few some of the negative posters on here, we know who they are, will change their mind, although there are some who would still complain about someone playing a bad game in a winning grand final.

So you reckon we are a good chance for top 4 this year.

Sam Murray
It's my understanding that we are no longer interested in Murray, unless things have changed, and I don't know that they have.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - LUKE JACKSON
More like Lay down Miserable, Picket I mentioned earlier in this thread that I'd seen the extended highlights of Jackson, Pickett too and if you have a look at them you must at least be a little more convinced than before. Also if you listen to the interview with Jackson, you will see he is keen to be here and loves Melbourne, the town.

Maybe the recruiters pick the correct players but the club fail to develop them? Of course nothing is guaranteed, but if the club the right system in place, there is a lot more chance the players will develop.

Phantom Drafts
Except Robertson who may turn out to be the best of them all. I doubt Serong will be in our sights.
-
Deven Robertson (Drafted by Brisbane)
Only in WA
-
Deven Robertson (Drafted by Brisbane)
I think Freo will take him before we can, but it will be a very good draft for us if we get him, he is a gun.
-
WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - LUKE JACKSON
Iโm not sure if weโll take Jackson at 3 but it appears if we donโt, heโll go soon after, this tells me that we arenโt out on our own and other clubs are circling him. There are probably 4 other clubs in the top ten who would jump at the chance at grabbing him. Iโve seen additional footage of him and he really looks the goods to me, he is a really exciting player and could be anything. We can go the safe route and pick another midfielder, or go for a player who could bring some excitement and star quality to the team. If we could get Robertson as well it would be my dream draft, but iโm happy if the club picks Kickett, he will be long gone by our next pick at 28, if we donโt take him he will go to the doggies. Flanders may be a chance to be selected
-
WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - KYSAIAH KROPINYERI PICKETT
Maybe the player we are after is Flanders and not Pickett, if thatโs the case.

Splitting Draft Pick 3
I don't know why posters are referring to Lucas Cook when discussing Jackson. It's my understanding that we were looking at a big forward in that draft and were after Lynch, who went the pick before Cook. That was a dreadful pick and shows that it sometimes is better to pick the player you like as opposed to the player who may fill a need. This is about a player not a need and Jackson is seen by the club as a good long term proposition, perhaps in a couple of positions and not a forward or ruck. He finished second in the Larke medal so obviously others saw something in him as well and if you have a look at the extended footage the club and other clubs have you might change your view.

Splitting Draft Pick 3
I think the club will take Kickett before Weightman and it then depends on who's left for the next pick and what that pick is. Doubt Robertson or Stephens will be there, but they will be in contention, if they are.
