Who Will Be Our Next Coach?
Buckley Coach, Simpson to take Richo's role and Sanderson as senior assistant?

Who Will Be Our Next Coach?
Yes 0-3, but we finished 2024 1-5 from memory, combine the NM loss in round 2, then makes sense.

Who Will Be Our Next Coach?
What year was it that Sam McCLure got a call right? You'd think Tom Morris or Caro would have a closer ear to the ground.

Who Will Be Our Next Coach?
Longmire playing coy for obvious reasons, but I'd bet a coin or two that he has already been asked and those talks were started a while back and escalated recently. Just a guess, but I think the job is his if he wants it, but he will do his own due diligence. We will set up a panel to decide on untried assistants if Longmire doesn't want it. Phil Davis is right and we all know it, Casey is a huge issue, but it's not every training session. Whatever we do, we need to bring in people from successful organisations, ie; Swans and Cats. I'd be all for Longmire for 5yrs with a succession plan with Enright (he will have Bomber Thompson, Chris Scott, Ross Lyon & then Longmire as his mentors). However you'd think Longmire will bring his own army.

The facts are: Since it all hit the skids, out of our last 35 games, we have won only 12, and lost 23. Of those 12 we have won, we won 5 of them in a 6 game stretch this year. (this streak covered over the cracks) We lost 5 out of our last 6 in 2024. We started 2025 with 0-5. (that was 1 win of the last 11 then). We have lost 7 out of our last 9 games, including the embarrassing capitulation v STK. In the last 19 games, we have 8. We won 5 of them in a 6 game stretch this year. All this with a fair chunk of premiership players playing, a very good injury list which we may never see again.

It's not so much the timing, it's letting him go out in a respectful way. 100% it was coming, but could of been handled a lot better IMO.

Who Will Be Our Next Coach?
I wonder if it will be Longmire with a succession plan for Enright, Skipworth, Montgomery etc.. Will the club go full untried after sacking a premiership coach? Going to be interesting, a part of me wants to feel like they already have someone lined up, but this is Melbourne, with an interim president and interim CEO.

At the end of the day, it is a results driven "business", our record over the last 2yrs is appalling. Goodwin knows this. Europe holiday with an extra $1m and no stress, he will be fine.

Who knows, Goodwin may have told Morris. on Morris (who is a dees supporter), said on 9 news before that we have only made finals twice, 2018 and 2021........... lol Tim Watson also said that the new CEO is not a fan of Goodwin, unsure why or if true but there are murmurings apparently. PJ held the club together.

I know all of that, as I posted up all the stats last week…. The timing could have been better….ie; after the last round

I think it’s the right decision but jeez, has any coach been sacked after a win? Even though Eagles are a shambles, Goodwin deserved to finish off the year and go out his way. Screams off dysfunction on the board and Green kneejerking it. Got to think there is a whole lot more to this behind the screens than what we realise, something stinks, and who knows, Goodwin may be a part of it all. Interim CEO, interim president and now interim coach 🤣 Hinkley, Longmire,Buckley, skipworth, Enright, Simpson are just a few names. Do one of those have a succession plan with guys mentioned? Do we have something big lined up? A bit to play out here and many questions need answering.

Time to go Goody?
Combined that WCE are an absolute basket case ( it was a nice win for a change), but they are the worst side I've seen in a very long time.

Welcome to Demonland: Jai Culley
A wingman/midfielder who is strong overhead is what we need more of, look at the cats, strong overhead across the ground, I think this is a huge area we could improve re recruiting/drafting. A much better dees debut than I was expecting, plenty to work with here.

NON-MFC: Round 21
Their first win against a top 8 side this year? They can also be very flaky. However a couple of wins like that at the pointy end can do wonders.....

Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver in 2026
I do think the AFL needs to introduce the policy that if a contracted player wants to leave a club, then they void that current contract. Because in more ways than one, the original club gets screwed.

The Brody Mihocek Thread
I agree, we are in more hurt than what people realise. Plummeting memberships, questions over the coach's future, a few top line players wanting out last year, form drop, no CEO, basically no president, no identifiable training ground...... I think it's all hitting home and sadly, this all worries me as a club.

Hows his form been at VFL?

Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver in 2026
We lose no matter what. Both players dragged the club through the media last year, for whatever reasons, but it isn't a great look that they wanted out so hard and so openly. Pretty much our two best players is not a good look for the club, nor is it for attracting other players in either. If we trade them, we have to continue paying their ridiculous salaries, for two people who are turnover merchants. Mess.
