  1. Through the dark years, Nathan Jones has been consistent, but no stand out year that belongs in the top 10. I would say Frawley's AA year would be the only one in consideration. He was unbeatable that year.
  2. Crazy Kenny. They are shamelessly going all out for a flag next year. But for a team who has played 1 final in 3 or 4 years, I fear they are further away than they think.
  3. I'll go out on a limb, and guess no on this one.
  4. I don't think we will pick him up as a DFA or in the draft, but if he is still around come rookie draft time, then we might potentially think about brining him in as depth. But as others have said, he would be in direct competition with a younger Tim Smith, so I would probably rather just give Tim that chance.
  5. It will be a little sad to see him go, and I genuinely hope he can do well, but... If the options are a) trade a largely underwhelming Jack Watts this year, b) lose one of our young guns, like a Petracca, next year, or even c) not be able to bring in a genuine A grade defender in Lever - then I'm sorry Jack, but it's time to go. Mahoney says it isn't salary cap related, but it almost certainly is (and he would be foolish to publicly admit we will be stretched next year).
  6. Pretty impressive team. Gotta laugh that the only time we get to see the best footy players in the country play in the same game, they are playing a completely different sport.
  7. Has anyone noticed Dion always seems to get a mention from coaches and senior players. I get the feeling he is rated pretty highly internally. I have never seen him play at all so take it with a grain of salt, but I always found it a little odd given his numbers were minimal.
  8. I think you are being generous by calling it a "formula". I don't think there is much method to the madness.
  9. And Melksham for 25 is a definite win. 25 is pretty speculative, Melksham had a good first year, and it opened the door to a cut price deal for Hibberd.
  10. Important to look at trade periods as a whole imo. Lots of deals done to shuffle picks that open up other doors, and I think we have done this moreso than other clubs. The Lever deal does seem a bit too much to me, but let's see the lay of the land this time next week.
  11. I was listening on Monday morning when trade period opened, and Cornes and whoever else were making a big song and dance every time a club arrived to Etihad. And then a player agent arrived and they started crapping on that they only turn up when a deal is imminent. It was all a bit sad. Might be worth listening to for the last few days, but even then, it is rare that any deals are done completely out of blue that genuinely surprise you. Garlett coming to Melbourne was one I remember hearing about for the first time as it was announced on the radio, but that was a one off.
  12. There was little before, but now there is no doubt he is out the door. It's now all about how much we will get for him in a trade, which I get the feeling we are all going to be disappointed about when it all goes down.
  13. Hibberd missed a few games at the start of the year, but still, so did Jones, Viney and Lewis. I know they are the coaches and and all that, but bloody hell, that is ridiculous.
  14. No, Viney finished 2nd. He would be 3rd if it was a tie for the Bluey.
  15. Of course Zac Jones is worth more than Jack Watts, even if only for the fact that his club actually wants him to stay there.
  16. Answer to the first question was from 1 or 2 posters on DL with supposed "inside sources". Answer to the second question is 99% likely to be because it isn't true, but that won't stop us all playing along. Would love to get Dalhaus at a decent price.
  17. Not anymore. Happens on draft night the same as academy picks.
  18. God I hate Dwayne Russel. I know it's a strong word, but I just straight up hate him.
  19. While Brett Burton did come across a bit amateurish, I think Kane Cornes has slapped a fair serve of mayo on that story.
  20. That's what i heard also, and that sounds reasonable to me. Adelaide are obviously training to paint it as a financial move to save their own skin, so don't be surprised if they throw some numbers out there.
  21. I'm supportive of Goodwin, but I'd be lying if I said a part of me wasn't hoping this results with Jack staying, a massive wake up call, ready to consistently be the player he has threatened to be.
  22. 100%. That interview bought a big smile to my face. And to top it off, in the face of Burton's comments, he throws the draft chestnut in there.
  23. Interesting comment about not questioning his effort in the second half of the season, which obviously raises the question about the first half of the season. He was not a good enough footballer to get by on any less than 100% commitment. Anyway, good luck for the future BK.
  24. Absolutely gutted
  25. I think the Op needs to rethink what hard is, if they think Bugg is hard, and Oliver isn't.
