  1. I'd be more worried about the machines Bitter 😜
  2. I saw this article and started reading it with some sort of hope. https://www.theguardian.com/sport/blog/2023/aug/30/laura-kanes-rapid-afl-rise-heralds-changing-times-for-women-in-sport A woman outside of the boys club appointed as exec GM of football operations reporting directly to Andrew Dillon. But the more I read, the more it looked like a fluff piece and her main points of focus seem deluded. She's been in the role since May. She's got a strong focus on the fans she says. Yet we still have Thursday night finals, a very poor aflw fixture, all finals tickets released at the same time on Ticketek (everyone enjoy stressing out with the spinning circles yesterday?) If the AFL cared about the fans, they could have staggered the release of tickets with one game per day and scheduled the release outside of work hours. Maybe 7pm each night this week. She has direct responsibility for umpiring and the rules of the game. She seems to have a big focus on technology to fix some of the poor decisions made this year. But tech doesn't fix things in isolation. You need to look at the process of review and the quality of umpiring staff for instance and the consistency with which the rules are applied. Who enjoyed that 50m penalty for our player losing their balance and moving their feet on the mark on the weekend? Another focus on the women's game being faster with more goal scoring. Well it's already happening as the skills and capabilities increase year by year with the quality of players. She's only been in the role 3 months and I'm sure driving change in that joint would not be easy. This article really didn't give me confidence that the things that are busted in our game will be pragmatically addressed.

Viney (he'll win the Bluey too) And Rivers, he just keeps getting better and better. Loving his runs off half back.
  4. I've worked in IT for decades and from a demand / infrastructure management perspective it's insane. You'd stagger the releases (tickets for games) at least a few hours apart to spread the load Crazy
  5. Flights from Brissie booked now. Please oh please Ticketek don't fail me now you cobbled together chain of pentium 386's. Never been to a MFC final in my life adfter 56 years of supporting and over 15 years as a member. Any tips for seating and getting tickets smoothly? Make sure I'm logged in at 09:45am with our 2 bar codes ready to go I assume.
  6. I'd agree. I love Salem but Gee he's been horrible late this year. He's a seasoned finals player and may stand up but right now he looks so far off the pace, I'd bring someone harder and faster in. Hibbo has been going extremely hard and stands up in the pressure.

What's this lack of bias and interference you speak of? This is the entertainment business we're in.
  9. Now that tanking is considered good practice, I assume the AFL will be refunding the fine we paid?

  11. Get rid of the E Or LIASATS system Lean In And Squint At The Screen
  12. Don't worry @binman Dangerfield is a fixer!
  13. Such a great team. Definitely brought a tear to my eye. I'll never forget being there live to watch them grab their first cup. We've let Daisy go but I really hope we keep Stinnear within our club for a long time. Improv training. What a crazy concept. I think it might have really helped the team bond even closer. What a great month or two we've got ahead of us as a club. Super proud.
  14. Agree with all of the above. I'd actually be in favour of each captain being able to call one or two goal line decisions per game. A bit like cricket. The players would know if it was worth a call.
  15. Yeah, there's both technology and process improvements that need to be made. Why is this bloke still there? https://www.theguardian.com/sport/blog/2023/aug/21/every-post-a-loser-as-afl-duds-fans-with-pointless-score-review-system
  16. Just watched a bit of the world cup. Contentious penalty in front of goal. Ref jogs over to the sideline and reviews and discusses decent high definition footage on a screen with those in the bunker and then makes the correct call after a proper review. Each team could be given one or two review calls like this each game if required. E.g both last week and this week. The Melbourne or Adelaide captain could have conferred with their players and then have asked for a review of some sort of footage that didn't look like it was filmed through a 1990s handicam. It's not that hard AFL. But yeah, they're both inept and corrupt. Soccer and NRL are coming for ya.
  17. It must be incredibly difficult for them having a little boys brain trapped in an old man's body. Watching the show is about as much fun as going to the dentist (sorry to any dentists on here)
  18. Mmmmm, Viney and Rivers have been good
  19. He will deal with it.
  20. Oh there's a HTB. Right in front of Hawthorns goal
  21. Viney smashing in again. He keeps us in it week in week out
  22. 10m kick ffs
  23. Why is Rivers on the bench?
  24. Oh for the good old days of HTB May as well take em on and drop it if caught.
