Also what's the theory/science behind the music playing at training?

Its getting us ready for Gils game.

Music and fireworks after every goal

    a rectangular field

    no tackling

free kick against for last touched

    time outs

    15 minute quarters

    etc etc.

its only about two years away

I couldn’t watch the game last night LH and from reading all the comments above the umpiring seemed like an issue again.

Sorry, I should have added “ If we see those 3 whistle happy bozos officiating our opener next week” in my response to Cass’s “ could it get worse” comment. Knowing our luck we probably get at least one of them.

Was the umpiring really that bad last night?

The thing that has been carried over from mens to womens so well is the art of ducking into tackles.

The rolling of shoulders to pull the contact high. Dropping to your knees when you know your going to get caught. I watched a bulldogs player fall on her arse and get paid a high contact free.

Making an effort to dispose of the ball properly goes out the window if you can just drop to you knees. Worst result for the player is a ball up.

It's a blight on our game.

We get to watch the master next Sunday.

Yep the umpiring was bad and we also blew it again.

One horrible throw in and usual home crowd dubious frees cost them the match.   The ump threw it straight in right at the end there instead of towards the centre and gave them about a 20 meter advantage with the wind instead of 5 or so ??

it was more than one. there were a number that swayed 10 to 15m with the breeze. if players have to compensate for the breeze. why couldnt the umps?

Ill be there, have bought tickets already, going with a fair few Lions supporters.  For the out of towners, you have a few options before the game, the German club on Stanley street has good beer and a killer pork knuckle.  There is the Pinapple hotel up the road also.  Both are very busy before hand.

yessss german club. get yourself some kuckle and the best range of real imported beers I've ever guzzled

A team full of footy players with this bloke's attitude is what we need.

a great quote. I love watching him beat blokes that he shouldn't.

In the end a good deal for Port. However realistically we wouldn't have expected much or anymore than 25. Unfortunately for Melbourne Port the only club willing to cough up. Geelong were keen but apparently wanted to flip us a pick in the 50s.
We pay a part of Watts salary. Big deal this happens all the time. Especially when the club is offloading a player. It's not like we're going to be paying his whole salary.
There are obviously some issues with Watts. Mahoney alluding to some preparation issues but said it was mainly that after 9 years he hasn't performed tomthe expected level. I think reading between the lines of the recent Jones Goodwin and Mahoney interviews they expect more from him outside of performances for a 9 year player. Probably not setting the example.
In terms of team structure we have brought Lever in and will likely play Tmac forward with Hogan and possibly Weideman/Pedersen. Or we'll go more mobile with Vandenberg or Tim Smith as options who provide pressure.
Anyway sad to see Watts go as he was a fan favourite over the years. But I'll back the footy department.

me too. sad to see him go but sadder when we lost to Collingwood.

Gotta have faith in the footy department And what they're creating.

    still feel sick.

Why is Jones hung out to dry alone? The first person I thought of Sunday night was Jones who deserved more from his team mates. Viney and the coach should have been there.

whole leadership team shoulda been there

  8. 50 years I've supported this club. Apart from that Grand Final spanking. That was the most disappointing thing I've seen from this club.

Just f#$/^ng soft. There is something in the culture of our club that stops us from being ruthless in smashing teams when should and standing up on big occaisions.

Start by trading those that are soft

Trac was down for a while in the last but seemed ok.

Hope not. We have had more than our fair share this year.

He was down for a while in the forward line. Got up and contested in the backline then sprinted forward to kick a goal. He's coming good and it was a real guts effort

Must acknowledge the form of Lewis over the past few weeks. Has been a constant, effective presence down back and along with Hibberd has been crucial to the organisation of our backline. He will be a great asset come finals.

I reckon we underestimate Jones too.

Slowed it down at the end when we were streaming forward and some of his disposal into the forward line was sublime
