  1. Not sure why its so complex.

    • Goodwin rewarded the winning team who beat Collingwood with only a fit Salem coming in at Wagner's expense
    • I reckon Goodwin will reward a winning team again
    • Jones out, Gawn in
    • Dees paying $2.90
    • Let's crack in!
  2. One of the things that made me so happy on Monday arvo was our gut running from so many players, Bugg, Harmes, Jones, Watts, Garlett etc etc.

When I watched Jack make that incredible run at the end and kick that goal (I'll never forget it), after lots of jumoing around and beers, it made me think of this article.
    http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/teams/melbourne/stinging-criticism-made-cameron-pederson-work-harder/news-story/0513bd33927554d21f594def39aa6978

THERE'S A RUTHLESS CULTURE AT OUR CLUB!

I could see the parallels with Pedersen (being told he won't play AFL or VFL until he drops 10kg) and Watts being held back at the start of the season to raise his intensity. He's delivered.
But when you watch the replay you can see it with so many of our team now.

I reckon Garlett might have had a similar talking to after he dropped away last year a bit too. He has been magnificent with his work ethic as well.

Then there's players like Bugg (what an effort at the end), Harmes, Jetta, Hibberd etc etc.
They'll never be considered champions but their efforts are relentless.

The bulldogs have been the same, We are now. We never let them get away from us and we hunted them down.
We are building a champion team.
It's a credit to all the leadership of our club.

    My favourite from an irate Pies fan suggesting they pull out of QB all together;

"So I gather by everybody thoughts here I'm not the only one, we owe Neale Daniher nothing, they can [censored] off and use another club like they use and our massive following, I've had a gut full of this stuff, Collingwood are stupid to let another club to pump them up to the detriment of our team and 4 points each year, the AFL don't want us to spoil the party, those lady 3 mins today told a huge story, it was the BIG FIX, something needs to change, the booing for the maggots as they walked off today was massive, loud and longwe could all see it, yet they treat us as stupid"

    Enough said really ?

    brilliant.

    it's actually one whole sentence!

those lady 3 mins really did tell a story.

so does "we owe Neale Daniher nothing"

    uncharitable graceless clowns

Haha. I missed that. Was mostly noticing a couple extra unheated but unnecessary shoves in the pack on Dunn by Jones and Viney toward the end. Oscar ran over to hug Lynden? Embarrassing - unless he whispered in his ears, 'cheers for the spot, old chum . . . p ' at the same time.

Viney gave Dunn a great shove when the game was in the bag with 30 seconds to go

Oh and some of Derms best comments:

On Bugg's kicking lining up for goal, "he's usually a very good kick is Tom Bugg".

After Watts kicked a goal, "he's not a renouned goal kicker, Jack Watts".

Last time I checked Watts was predominantly a forward who last year kicked 38 goals, and Tom Bugg is one of the worst kicks in our team! Very special comments there!

he's still better than Taylor and Hudson

Currently at a restaurant where the boys must be staying.  They are in the pool for a quick recovery.  Watts is limping but hopefully the week off will help. Players a bit embarrased as they walked through the restaurant with melbourne fans clapping them. Told jonsey great 2nd half by him.

I thought Watts was lazy last week but I reckon he's carrying injury / fatigue.

I think we forget sometimes how many players are carrying injuries and also how competitve we're staying with so many kpds missing.

hope the break lets them mend then bring on the pies and our talls coming back in.

Being at the ground, it looked like Norf were into us all day, and we copped the Umpiring from hell.

Reading the reports, it sounds like we started the niggle, and what I observed were retaliations.  Maybe we started something we didn't understand - we started with a bit of niggle, and the umps were off-side to us all day.  Any small thing, they were already convinced that we were the baddies and had to be punished.  Norf were the poor suffering little angels that had to be protected.  No wonder they were joking at 3/4 time.  And any time they punched us?  Just fair payback.

I was howling blue murder in the stands - but what if it was stupidity of our own design?

It started when clarry got punched in the head in front of the umps. knocked him down no free. our players stepped in to support him.

pretty sure thats what fired it all up. a free kick to clarry would have calmed things down as we wouldnt have wanted it reversed.

thats what umps are supposed to do.

crap umpiring can often turn up the stink at a game as player frustration grows. they'll talk about the hits but I doubt they'd ever make the connection that umpiring performances can contribute to players having a swing.

and yep I know the players  are supposed to be professional and above all that. would be good if the umps were professional too.

I've seen people say this through the thread, do you have examples of lack of effort and intensity? I'm not saying it didn't happen but I didn't really see it. We were outplayed for parts of the game (especially early before we adjusted) but that's not always down to effort and intensity. Our tackling was down on last week but North were flinging it around in the first quarter not allowing us the chance to land a tackle on them.

watch Jack Watts jog around for the majority of the game.

It was a shocking free in any case and even after calming down I still want a please explain sent him.

The bloody umpires were joking with north players at 3/4 time... such a bad look in a game where the umpiring was painfully one sided

yep. I saw them having a good old laugh with the Norf players. The club should be sending in a complaint. both Salems and the delliberate calls were gob smacking

    Mentally weak. Fuming!

A game we simply should have won but no, typical Melbourne [censored].

And Weideman is utter useless. Send him back to Casey and leave him there till next year when he puts on weight and actually grows a pair.

That was one of the weakest games from Jack Watts since 2012. Your a 145 game veteran, play like one!

we played without Watts last week as well. he has to be dropped due to lack of effort but who do you bring in? with Weeds, Kent and Oscar out there, its left up to the mids to carry us over the line. Too many passengers.

    another wasted season.

I reckon the media with their hitting the post bs has just cost him goal of the year.

I noticed Jetta went off toward the end of the last with what looked like a leg injury....any reports?

he was hobbling right at the end.

Our luck will turn and I think it did when Jayden Hunt got up off the floor in the sheds. It was great to see him up and about.

hopefully we've got all of our injuries out of the way now
