  1. Good point. I think a players peak is 26 and they maintain it for two to three years.
  2. It's a fair probability. I mean there a lot of unknown factors about like Oliver, Petty's fitness and a few others. But I feel quite confident. It's still a reasonably young life list with a good balance of age and youth. There are also a lot of players on the list that haven't really been able to show their true colours. Also a number of players were down on form last year so if they get back to their best I see no reason why we won't be top four again.
  3. You really shouldn't have.
  4. I'll be wearing a pink carnation.
  5. Glad Marty Hore is back. Although as far as back lines are concerned it's going to be pretty tough breaking into it. Hopefully Rivers gets more time in the middle. Tx for posting this Dland.
  6. Thanks Eldiablo. You are probably correct. I'm sure they will be at least bigger than the last two clubs combined.
  7. You make a good point. Perhaps in its Qld and NSW land grab, the AFL pulled the trigger too early there instead of going the route of Tassie first Or is it a case of Tassie itself not big enough?
  8. That reminds me of a song by Painters and Dockers
  9. Really do admire the commitment of some supporters who travel so far.
  10. Sydney is a beautiful city. Greatest Harbour in the world possibly and lots of Sunshine. But in terms of getting around on pt Melbourne is easily the better city. The Scg although close to the CBD is kind of like how getting to Waverly used to be. A bus to the tram followed by two more bus routes. Not good. Don't get me started on Snz stadium or whatever it's called. The MCG and Docklands are so easy to get to.
  11. I hope we as a club close ranks re the media as much as possible this year. I know there are media commitments and expectations but if I had my way I'd have players and staff talk to the media as little as possible. We seem to be the latest whipping boy and it sometimes seems they are looking for things to dump on us. I hope that we do most of our talking on the scoreboards this year . It's getting closer.
  12. Really surprised by this. Your posts are usually on the money. Speaking of which, as far as I'm concerned DS, it couldn't buy better leaders. Cheers.
  13. He shut down many a star. Had great stamina and yep great footy intuition.
  14. I will miss watching star Oppo players getting Hibbered.
  15. Think I'll do myself a favour and stay away from this thread. Ignorance really is bliss.
  16. Thanks for reminding me Rif, that I come to Demonland for the information but stay for the poetry.😀
  17. Bad games. But lost at selecting two all rounders. We don't need six bowlers given the quality of four of them. It's just silly choosing Greene and Marsh. One maybe. Also there must be other options other than Carey who averages around 23. But credit to a great effort from a young Wi team.
  18. Why does the cricket team have two all rounders? It's not even like one of them gets to bowl much . Carey is a good wkeeper but he's no batsman. We are effectively two batsmen short.
  19. Back up ruck is an issue. So too are our fwd tall stocks with big questions hanging over Schache, Bbb and Tmac. After losing four home finals on the trot, I don't get why the club wasn't more bullish about fixing this.
  20. Meanwhile I've been trying to locate some plastic straws on the black market.
  21. You may be correct. But gee I do admire his fortitude. Though Im not sure if it's at all realistic to expect to see him or Tom play. At least in the ones. I'm sure the club knows much more than me and I hope I'm wrong but it seems like the writing was on the wall for both of these blokes two years ago. They are both part of why our fwd lines didn't deliver in the last four home finals. I know they played injured but I don't get why the club hasn't done more in 24 months to find replacements for them both. Not a few have said that anything we get from them is a bonus but it should not be that way. For me, our fwd tall stocks are an issue and the biggest worry to me this year. Petty seems injury prone and Schache never seems to get a game. I know this sounds very negative and I'm sorry if it is but am I wrong about not finding at least one more tall? Has Tommo ever played forward? Edit....I've read some reviews of Tmac training and moving well so I may well be wrong about him. It's some good news.
  22. Happy Australia day folks.
  23. SEVEN weeks to go. Me I like football but there's a lot of things around......
  24. Im not sure Grundy was that good. I thought his tap work and ground skills were above par but he failed to be a marking target forward and back. He would still be a good replacement if Max went down but certainly not the best. Hopefully Fullerton provides enough support
