Fritta and Melksham when on are probably one of the most dangerous combos about. Shame Fritta has had form issues and Melksham is getting on. Guess I'll just have to enjoy them today.

Rubbish. It's part of the game. Besides their tape measures are off again. Roo has his back jumped on and Tmac gets held then pinged.

		YESTERDAY by The Oracle

The KP factor along with Fritta in finer form may stop them. Also Melky is due for a few . But surely young Jeffo needs as many games as he can get. We are certainly not playing finals so what does it matter? I know Jeffo hasn't been great but his last effort wasn't a total bust and dropping him kills his small amount of confidence for a bloke who clearly struggles in this area. From the Magoo's to the big top is a huge transition for some young players. Given our ladder position we can afford to help him with this. But nup. It smacks of Simon cooking the books and playing for points instead of the future. Perhaps he can now read the writing on the wall. He's been a good coach but he certainly has a stubborn streak. Who else would play Petty fwd for so long? It's not Petty's fault. He is a wonderful player. But he's just one of those players who can't do both. They are two distinct roles and it's not often you get someone like Tmac who has done it so well and then comeback again in his old role. So well, that Goody dropped him. Goody needs to go. I thought maybe at the end of the year he could ceremoniously retire but he's making bad calls now which will impact 2026 . I know our depth isn't great but let's play all the people we are not sure about so we can be sure about them. The Saints game and the rest should be used as opportunities to adjust our list . Not a time for Goody to grab a few wins to try and save his job. Maybe I'm off here but that's what dropping Jeffo looks like to me. And if Petty is played fwd again than I think I will explode. How many contested marks and i50 has poor Petty made as a fwd? How many goals has he kicked? Surely these two stats are important. Yet In the two whole years now,HP has failed miserably in these two stats. Again Petty is a fine player when he is in his playing his part as a defender. Truth be told he's probably quite annoyed he's had to play as a fwd and I don't enjoy putting him down. Iits been so long, I think many have forgotten how good a defender he is is. I hope we haven't destroyed his career.

PREGAME: Rd 20 vs St. Kilda

Thankyou. I'm afraid that Goody is as well. These picks suggest a man trying to salvage his job. Definitely time for him to go now. Jefferson wasn't great but it was I believe his best game in only a handful of seemingly trending upwards. And then we drop the poor kid. Way to install confidence. And after two years, Goody still can't accept that Petty isn't a fwd. What's that all about?

		POSTGAME: Rd 19 vs Carlton

I'm really only watching games to see the bloke in action. Such a dynamic player and worth every dollar we paid And given his age more likely to continue his steep upward trajectory. That and seeing how a few of the young ones still pan out. A lot of interest in Jeffo and Roo. The latter probably not really in the true young bracket given he's cracked fifty games. Bit I'm keen to see if he recaptures his old form which is a distant memory unfortunately. But these two are the invested future of our fwd line. So it's a concern. At least Jefferson has shown gradual improvement and doesn't seem afraid anymore. Roo concerns me probably more. I mean Jeffo has only played about five games and they were pretty much like for like on the weekend. Although poor Roo gets dragged into ruck duties which he's fairly average in. Surprisingly I think Jeffo is taller but Jvr has a better leap I guess. Where is our other ruckman? Is it AJ or WV? Are they worth getting excited about. The clock is closing on Melksham and sadly Max. What the heck is going on? What if these two don't improve? And what if Max goes down next year. Yikes. We better be prepared to burn the house down come trade time and make some super tough calls everywhere. At present there are way too.many nowhere near what they are being paid. Except KP who we got cheap.😀

2023. So close but so far. Footy and life. Some more meanderings from a marginally mired Melbourne man.

I don't remember it. Shame on me. I wish I could delete it but then I feel that way about most of my posts. Stay tuned for my next thread about The western Bulldogs entitled.....well you know. It's a similar crazy thread named after a just as crazy tune. No prizes for guessing GW.

		VALE BRIAN DIXON

A big loss to the football fraternity and the Victorian community in general. Apart from his long stellar career at the MFC , being instrumental in winning five premierships in our Halcyon days he also gave back much more to Victoria as a moderate Liberal State MP in a time of extremism. He was named on the wing in the Melbourne, Team of the Century, and also a member of the Australian Football Hall of Fame and I think he played over 250 games. Also known for his long kicks At around five eleven he was remembered for playing taller than he was often taking high marks. He was in the same year at Melbourne high School as my dad and knew him well.. My old man a bias Melbourne supporter but even more a passionate member of the Alp reckoned Brian was still ok At state level, he represented Victoria 10 times and won the Tassie Medal at the 1961 carnival, where he also gained All-Australian selection.1 As a pollie, he had the courage of his convictions and one of few that stood his ground against the formidable Bolte Known for his integrity and passion for helping others despite Dixon's wife claiming ' he was dubbed the minister for having his photo in the paper," Probably remembered by many for his advocacy about health and the life be in it campaign with its catchy or annoying jingle depending upon how motivated one was to exercise. Probably his biggest achievement was him advocating strongly for compulsory seat belt legislation, when Victoria became the first jurisdiction in the world to make wearing seatbelts mandatory. Apparently the Transport Accident Commission, noted the new laws led to a 13 per cent reduction in road deaths over the following 12 months. An astonishing change that probably overshadows his prowess on the footy field. But this is a footy forum so I think we should just be grateful for his extra corriculiar contributions and salute his efforts in bringing home five flags. Thank you Mr Brian Dixon Rest in peace. And my thoughts and prayers to your grieving loved ones left behind.

PREGAME: Rd 20 vs St. Kilda

I wonder if Petty comes in I really want to see Disco play as a forward. Jake is definitely on the way out given his age and next year will be his last. I do hope he says on a coach. Especially with our fwds. And I definitely want to see young Jeffo play every game . He is getting better and needs all the confidence he can get. Goody should sit him down and simply tell him no matter what...he is playing every week. So if Turner goes fwd and Petty back in defence where he belongs who makes way? Not sure. Roo probably needs to play to help Max but it's not enough to warrant selection every week. And while Roo has been better than Jefferson...he's had 50 more chances. So Roo out or Petty out. I guess if May is suspended than problem solved.
