GAMEDAY: Rd 22 vs Western Bulldogs
Wasn't that a push in the back to Fritta?

How you doing?
They are indeed. I was thinking more in terms of their financial security. I'm sure Coaches these days are well set up compared to many a young delisted player.

Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver in 2026
I dont want players that don't want to be at the club. Pay what we must to get rid of them. It's bad for and brings negativity. I think it's been part of our downfall.

How you doing?
Then again I just read Simon saying....... Iโm disappointed because I think weโre a hell of a lot closer to turning our club and team back into a contender again than what people think, So there's that.

How you doing?
It's interesting we don't feel the same emotion or empathy towards the myriad of delisted players. There's a lot of kids out there shown the door after a couple of years. I know Goody did something incredible that many failed at. But the club was moving in the wrong direction and we could all see it. Did I want him sacked? Id have preferred a more graceful departure. But they usually get pushed instead of nudged. But I do have a twinge of guilt for hoping for it. As a person he's probably a top bloke. But going forward as the coach of the greatest sporting club in the world......wasn't the best choice. So thanks MFC for the move and thanks Simon very much for the memories. You'll always have 2021.

Now I feel guilty. This club.

Simon Goodwin Sacked
There is definitely merit in your observations. But the coach is ultimately the one who has to take responsibility for your points. That's the ways it's always been. Right or wrong. We have been all the shop this year and that's ultimately upon the coach because you can't sack all the players. It's lonely at the top. And watching Goody just sit there and watch the saints make that comeback while the only changes he made after saints kicked the first three in as many minutes was change position in his seat. Finally seeing Melksham and Kozzie stuck on the bench for the last few minutes made me realize that SG was afraid and had no idea what to do. His time was well and truly up. And while a lot of players should unfortunately join him and most of us know who they are, it just doesn't work that way. Never has and never will. It's the coach who cops it. And SG bought a fair bit on himself regardless.

Simon Goodwin Sacked
Been calling for it but now that's happened I feel a little sorry for the guy. What he achieved was something heaps of others couldn't. But he had a stubborn streak like playing Petty fwd for two years was a typical example. And ironically Petty finally game good on the weekend. But two years too late and SG was way off continuing to play him there. But our record this year is just unacceptable and well done to the club for pulling the plug. His refusal to play Grundy in finals and having a five gamer Laurie as the sub for Gus in such a huge final was ludicrous. And the lack of any changes while we all watched the Saints make the greatest comeback against us was surreal. SG has been caught napping on the job for the last time. And while I salute him for his flag it is a sad fact he has lost his touch totally. We did have a great list. One that one a flag and then two years of a double chances. Aside from losing both those double chances, last year was a disaster and this year the wheels fell off. Going forward this was definitely the correct call. Depending upon who replaces him. Also despite the denials there have been way too many internal rumblings which a good coach just doesn't allow. Our goal kicking woes alone are enough to justify SG departure but his reluctance to make obvious changes during a game to alter an outcome is as mentioned his biggest Achilles. Thanks for the memories. Now onwards and upwards MFC.

Welcome to Demonland: Jai Culley
Could certainly teach Jvr a thing or two.

Welcome to Demonland: Jai Culley
Ditto and to add to his 194cm he has a great leap

Welcome to Demonland: Jai Culley
I think he's the sort of player we have been crying out for. Someone who could play all these roles. Interesting player.

Welcome to Demonland: Jai Culley
This youngster is pretty quick for a 194 cm. He moves well and seems to have more confidence given the number of games he's played. Therefore I am inclined to play him on a flank or perhaps some centre time. Although I would need to see more of him to make the midfield call. Because of his speed I think it would be a waste to have him play fwd full time.bif so definitely as a CHF. He has a great leap too. I think as a winger or mid he could spend time up fwd in spells Keen to hear some other opinions on where to play him. He's only 22 so will probably get stronger adding to his fwd craft. He would be pretty handy in the middle with his height and a great link up option out of the backline. The passage of play where he was being chased by had the coolness to not just bang away was excellent. I'm talking about the one where he hit up Fritta on the other side of the camera/ ground. He seemed to have no options and with an opponent breathing down his neck he still took a bounce and ran and then delivered it pinpoint to Fritta. I'm a looking and I'm a liking. We could do well with another non fwd kicking a couple of goals each game. This is something we have missed dramatically since 2021. Then again it would be interesting to see him play at CHF with licence to go wherever he wants. There's something special about players who do an acl early in their playing days. It gives them a sense of determination. Eagles were mad to.let this bloke go. And also poor in respect to looking after their players. One injury and they show him the door. Their loss for sure.

POSTGAME: Rd 21 vs West Coast
Where does Jai play. He's described as a midfielder but he's 194 cm I think. And he has a decent leap. ???

POSTGAME: Rd 21 vs West Coast
The not 15m calls when the ball is still halfway in the air and the player is running after it, kills me. Just wait a few seconds before calling it.

GAMEDAY: Rd 21 vs West Coast
Surely we will.make a statement today and kick 140.
-
GAMEDAY: Rd 21 vs West Coast
Should be ok from here given we had the last quarter off in last week's game
-
GAMEDAY: Rd 21 vs West Coast
Today's performance is why Goodwin had clearly stuck with Petty. Bit of bet my house that it's an outlier. I wish it weren't.

GAMEDAY: Rd 21 vs West Coast
And only a week ago id be smug and smiling with a ten goal lead at the final break. Those days are forever gone.

GAMEDAY: Rd 21 vs West Coast
Sorry Jaded. Nice sentiment but I'd wait until the final siren.

GAMEDAY: Rd 21 vs West Coast
Petty's marking has definitely improved

GAMEDAY: Rd 21 vs West Coast
Viney is supreme with his tackling. Not just the number but they are rarely shaken. He and Max are still our best.
-
GAMEDAY: Rd 21 vs West Coast
Let's get rid of the coach by a ten goal lead at three quarter time.
