  1. I think it's called levity....!
  2. Not many blokes go well post concussion, so am hoping Darcy is ineffectual. Not much has been made of our WA mafia combining in statement games but would love to see Riv, JVR, Kossie, Kolt and Judd remind the West Australians of what was left on the table...
  3. Is Charlie the new Gary Rohan???
  4. Without wanting to get too far ahead of one's self WCW, has the DA given any thought to mocking the Collllliiiiingwoooood chant with a DA version of Colllllllliwooobbbbles if we end up playing them next week and are comfortably up with 10 to go in the 4th? Or is that not done in terms of Cheer Squad respect protocol??
  5. All of the above is premised on the player concerned being aware a free kick has been paid. We see countless examples every weekend where a free kick is paid, the ball is subsequently kicked away, yet a 50m penalty is not awarded because the umpire gives the player the benefit of the doubt in terms of the timing of when he reasonably ought to have been aware. The vision clearly shows that not all players were aware that a free kick had been paid and this reasonably includes who Warner. If you accept this reasonable test, it provides further context for his action of kicking the ball in to the crowd post siren. Also of note, is that the umpires verbal advice of a free to Richmond also only came post siren. Yes, the rules are the rules. But many of AFL's rules require those officiating to determine who reasonably ought to have been aware of what when!
  6. That may explain the absence of winning a Brownlow WJ, but it doesn't account for only one MFC B&F, the voting for which I've always found to be reliably consistent over my lifetime of watching the MFC.
  7. It's nostalgic to read of all the memories of the great Robbie Flower. For what it's worth, I was born in Feb 65 and until a few months ago my only claim to fame was that I was conceived at the time of the last Demons' flag. Grew up watching Flower and as several have noted, he was often the only reason you went to the footy in the 70's. I also read with interest the commentary around no Brownlow and only one B&F and this caused me to delve deeper in to my memories. My recollection is that notwithstanding the Tulip brilliance, he wasn't always the most consistent performer and had his share of "off" days. My assessment in fact is that Clarry is well on the way to being the best MFC player I've seen in my time following the Dees and Trac may well end up in second place. Their consistency of performance is a significant part of that assessment.
  8. I'm not sure if this has been mentioned anywhere as the threads are so long, but the motivation to back up next year and win a premiership on the MCG and leapfrog Hawthorn and Richmond in to 4th place on the premierships table is fairly powerful stuff. And then the Pies would loom in to view......
  9. thanks for that....!
  10. where does one get a link to the SEN call of the game?
  11. My wife is in London on her lonesome and has tickets to the Bloomsbury Lanes event: https://www.bloomsburylive.com/
  12. The umpires historically haven't liked Clarrie (as Webber referenced). The dislike has thawed but won't be enough to see him win it. Clearly, Bontempelli was the favoured one for much of the season and would have a lot of votes banked.
  13. One thing that should just be added for the benefit of our younger members is that probably only 10-15% of Melbourne games from the bulk of the Robbie Flower era were covered by television. So there's a vast amount of Flower highlights that will remain etched in the memories of those of us luck enough to see him play his entire career. FWIW, I now have Clarry as the equal of Flower after his efforts this year. He has a very different skill set to Flower and his kicking skills are notably inferior, but his consistency and ferocity at the contest are phenomenal and his handballing skills and sixth sense of team mates positioning is the stuff of legend, have no doubt.
  14. It is us who can engineer who we want to play, as we'll know the Friday night result ahead of us playing on Saturday night. If it suits us to lose against Geelong in order to meet or not meet a team in a qualifying final, that option would be open to us. I'm not suggesting it's something we should do.
  15. And given that we can't be the Friday night fixture, you would think that will be Dogs and Port. So we will know ahead of time if Port has a top 2 spot (in which case we need to win to get top spot in order to avoid playing them at home in a 2v3 QF). If they have lost, then we are playing for 2nd or 3rd place and that would only be of significance if the GMHBA home final delusion hasn't been extinguished.....
