Trade Targets
I really like him too. But saying that I think he is a bit short to become a top of the line ruckman. He could easily become a future CHB, especially as our key defenders are nearing the end of their careers.

Not going to blame anyone. Great effort. Can't believe a team full of 18 -20 year olds showed so much maturity. Great for our future . Many carrying injuries including Max. Clarrie had to have work on his groin during the week. Lever first game back. Obviously Bowey had been carrying that back for a while. Petty has had foot injuries all season and sustained more so don't know why people target him so much. Windsor is only a young guy and hasn't had a breather all season. Rivers has been thrown into the middle to learn a new role. We had to go with an oversized defence with 4 talls and still put great pressure on. Our forward line is built around 2 ex defenders. 3 of our main midfielders in Tracc Brayshaw and salem are gone. Likewise our back up midfielders in Jordan and Harmes have gone. Our back up wingmen in Billings and Hunter haven't worked out. Our 4th forwards in Melksham and Smith who contributed around 3 goals combined each week are not there. I think it amazing we should have won the game.

PREGAME: Rd 16 vs Brisbane
Obviously it's Lever (if fit) for Thomlinson. Bowey and Chandler haven't played well for a while but it's hard to see who would do better. A month ago I would suggest McAdam but nothing showing there. On Casey form you would have to say AMW who had 30 plus touches and if Salem is doubtful because of knee, then he could help out in a midfield role. WOULD CERTAINLY ADD NEEDED MIDFIELD PACE. There's little defensively at Casey to take Bowey's spot. Hore is the most likely but he is listed as a test. If they rest Windsor I would prefer Woewodin over Billings. At some stage they'll give Sestan a go. Not likely to make 4 changes though.

The midfield numbers behind staggering drop-off
Windsor has got pace, but that doesn't count at clearances. Picket has pace but doesn't have the build of a permanent midfielder, in any case he is needed down forward. All the successful sides have pace through the midfield, but I can't see where it is going to come from. There's no pacy midfield options at Casey that I'm aware of. Chandler is quick in a straight line but struggles to maneuver quickly and is small for a midfield role. McAdam might be quick but has no tank. Rivers is a bit quicker but not exceptionally. Don't even know if we have a sprint coach.

Dees Down But Not Out
Pretty hard to have a game plan when successful sides have good fast runners through the midfield where we are so slow. Even Goodwin said our plan was to slow the pies down, and that didn't work.

Dees Down But Not Out
agree about Hibberd We don't have a strong defender to go against any medium forwards. Howes Bowey and McVee are skilfull but don't intimidate forwards. Rivers is the closest you get. We are cetainly missing the way Melksham played towards the end of last year. A medium forward who uses his body and jumps into packs, and reasonably accurate around goals.

yeah definitely need to draft some one for midfield during midseason draft. Whether good to go or young with potential. There's not much in the stocks at Casey. Seston looked the best of them last week but he's more HFF.

would add bite to forward, but also insurance if someone goes down in defence, to leave Petty as a forward

I always said Jefferson had a huge upside to come. This is just another step on the way.

I think this will be a watershed game from him. If he is going to succeed as a second ruck to Max he has to gain possession and kick goals which is what he did. Might not be this year but it was great to see.

Hustwaite Moodie and Steele seem to be the best of the younger brigade at Casey

Schache out for Fullarton. Fullarton is not only a better ruckman but also a better overhead mark. Even if he doesn't take the mark he would rarely be marked against. He also kicked many goals last year in VFL Hore for Bowey. Our backline is our strength and you can't afford to take players from other positions to play there and expect to have the same cohesion. Keep Salem in midfield. Playing him in the back half in the last quarter against the swans allowed their midfield to take over. Picket for Spargo (could also be Chandler but Spargo was less of a contributor). Billings for Woewodin You need a sub who can come on and make an impact with run and aggression even if they don't actually get the possessions. Woewodin had an impact last year whereas Billings was on for nearly a half and you hardly noticed him. Laurie for AMW. It's about time for him to see what he can do even if it's only as the sub. That's 5 ins but if Picket, Bowey and Laurie are forced and you don't count the sub, it's really only the one unforced change (Schache for Fullarton)

TRAINING: Monday 11th March 2024
I thought Spargo was only second to Viney in the midfield. Putting him on the HBF when Bowey went off cost us all the drive we were getting and the Swans midfield over ran us. It was a bad coaching decision. I would rather see a direct swap of Hore or Adams for Bowey. Pity Turner is injured.

Kayo is 4K in 2024
I had to ring the club membership line and they sent me an email with the log in details. You have to sign up for $35 a month after the 12 month period but you can cancel that after the 12 months. Maybe they'll continue the package deal.

I think you need 8 altogether. Those 6 plus 2 others Salem and Rivers will go through the midfield and spend some time down back, but not enough to be the reliever of the bench. So maybe Howes who did well and adds a little height we lost with Hibberd retiring. Then the other key spot is between TMac and Thomlinson who seems to have the nod.
