  1. Started as a nice day at Gosch's but then a cold change swept in. Absent: Everyone Present: A few hardy Demonlanders and a lovely lady from the ABC called Kate who did a couple of interviews for Radio 774 to get the MFC fans' reactions to the news re the Senior Coach. I am sure someone has the technology to find the interviews and post them here. Guess who they were. Not Harvey W fyi.
  2. So why didn't the Board announcement come first?
  3. Fact No. 1 on the list - perhaps THE most important job of any Board - appoint a CEO, and have a succession plan for the current one. We will finally have a non-interim CEO almost 12 months after the last one departed.
  4. What should it matter? You're absolutely right - ability is key, but we are talking about just 8 people with ability. Surely from a membership base of 40,000 adults, 8 people of ability (already red and blue) can be found?
  5. Nice to see the Pod return this week. I wonder - will we cover both the Saints game and today's game?
  6. She went from us (in Comms) to Collingwood in November 2022 and was with them in Footy Ops roles for 1 year and 6 months, before coming back to us.
  7. The Club clarified in reference to an earlier article that Pert is no longer involved at the Club.
  8. Start with the Stats File and then complaints about the umpires....😄 An hour done!
  9. In theory the MFC should be "all ears". As a result of the "external" governance review last year there was "a clear recommendation" to establish a Member Engagement Committee - see Brad Green's letter in the Annual Report.
  10. A very good point - the AFL has adopted different "cut-off dates" for annual membership counts and the AFL normally crow about the numbers in September based on the numbers at the end of the home and away season. In George's table (on page 1) he records 67,673 as at end of July 2023 but then also posts a post-July 31 number of over 70,000. Our Annual Report boasted 71,388 (probably a number as at 31 October - the financial year-end), probably because the Strategic Plan had a target of 75,000 - maybe bonuses depended upon it? As has been posted before on DL these "gross" numbers do not equate to the number of individual members, and of course the numbers include junior members.
  11. BRAD GREEN (PRES) GEOFF PORZ (VP) DAVID RENNICK SARAH ROBINSON SALLY FREEMAN (re-elected in 2024) (below elected in 2024) ANGELA WILLIAMS CHRIS BARLOW STEVEN SMITH
  12. Yes - saw that.
  13. Track-watchers will be there tomorrow - appreciate that that is a bit easier than firing up for the pod Andy. Maybe a mid-week pod to allow everyone to take a breath or two? Life goes on....
  14. Reckon I saw Kirkwood-Scott this morning at the Captain's Run. With a carryover emergency required for the AFL, hopefully he is a late in tomorrow.
  15. Don't think Sestan was there. Yes. had surgery - incident at training. Hopefully he can come back for Casey - and they make finals. Casey should win tomorrow, bye next week, then Lions away and Box Hill at home - tough finishing games....
  16. Henderson present, but not selected for Casey tomorrow...
  17. Cold, blustery day with a few Wallabies' fans in attendance. Casey out first, including Jeffo, Culley and Adams. We'll know the carryover emergency when Casey starts tomorrow at 11.05 am. Not much to report really - as Ghosty mentioned, amongst the injured players May was present. Just another short Captain's Run.
  18. I want our players to be smarter than that. Anyway, let's hope nothing comes of it.....
  19. Not sure about that. Riv will probably now get a "please explain" or worse......commenting on a Tribunal decision.
  20. Some camera crews were there.....
  21. Lots not present today - See Ghosty's post above: Absentees: May, Petracca, Viney, Spargo, Turner, TMac, Adams, Campbell, Sparrow, Fullarton, Petty, Pickett, Sestan, Woewodin, AJ. Also no Hore, McAdam or AMW from the LTI (done for the season list). Billings, Bowey, Howes and Henderson all just ran laps rather than joining the soccer, and departed early. Woewodin took a heavy knock during the Casey game on Sunday - looked like ribs/concussion, or both. Max was comfortably nailing his "round the corner" shots. Look for them in a game if he marks close to goal. Injury update tonight.
  22. A simple question for the boys. The coach, in his press conference, was clearly angry with the first quarter effort on Saturday night and also referenced the even more anaemic effort in the first quarter against Gold Coast. Given that someone is accountable for those failures, which arguably costs us both games, who is it? The Senior Coach, the leadership group, the playing group generally, the Head of Football, the interim CEO or the prospective CEO (a bit of tongue in cheek re the last two....)?
  23. And Henderson also listed as injured - but not dealt with in the Tuesday injury report...drops it from a potential 17 to 15 AFL listed....
