We're Not Dead Yet - The 2025 Season
So you're telling me we're still a chance!😄

Training Ground?
An update from our former CEO?

TRAINING: Sunday 8th June 2025
May also explain why we held so many out of Casey last night - 6 day break into travel to Port Adelaide too.

TRAINING: Sunday 8th June 2025
26 at training - no Sestan, so it seems he wasn't pulled out of the Casey team last night to debut in the AFL tomorrow. Our guess is that Jeffo and Kolt miss out. So does either Howes or Culley. Sharp probably gets a full game with either Howes or Culley the sub. So JVR comes in for AJ, and one other in for Laurie. The boys avoided the worst of the weather in a very brief Captain's Run. Lots of goal-kicking practice, although Chocco can only get to one or two at a time. It did also look like it was very much a voluntary activity - not scripted. Who knows they might do a thousand shots out at Casey....

PREGAME: Rd 13 vs Collingwood
By my reckoning we must have a few new injuries, illness or management for Monday's game. 13 AFL listed players played for Casey tonight and with Viney, Spargo and AJ out, that leaves 27 to fit into 23 with an emergency or two. Sestan was selected for Casey, but came out of the team. Of those who did not play against the Saints we have: JVR, Jeffo, Tholstrup, Howes, Sestan and Culley. Let's see what the Captain's Run brings tomorrow - if they emerge from AAMI. Forecast diabolical.

CASEY: Rd 11 vs Collingwood
The actual Casey team usually differs from that selected, and shown here. Initially the MFC side will list 8 on the extended bench (tonight), and then three will become emergencies, some or all of whom will play on Saturday night - perhaps one completely rested (or limited minutes) as the carryover emergency for Monday.

Flush - "to send a volume of water quickly through (a pipe, etc..) or into (a toilet) for the purpose of cleansing, etc...."

TRAINING: Tuesday 3rd June 2025
Thanks Rif - we may be idle (and therefore able to attend training) but we are highly trained and, yes, we have feelings......

TRAINING: Tuesday 3rd June 2025
I wasn't there Tuesday Rif. I'll get the track-watcher committee together on Sunday for the "pre-match Captain's Run" and give them a good talking to!

Noted LDC. From now on we will use the term "light recovery" lifted straight from the website.

PODCAST: Rd 12 vs St. Kilda
I reported on Friday that Kosi looked "sore" and had his ankle re-strapped at training. So what does a match committee do? Play him sore because of his talent? Play a fully fit "lesser" player. Kosi kicked 6 in 2022 when we beat Port in Alice - pretty much won the game single-handedly.

POSTGAME: Rd 12 vs St. Kilda
Didn't get above 20 degrees.

KOZZY A DEMON FOR LIFE!!!
I agree - let's all wait and see. I just hope he contributes to his best on Sunday - I reckon he's a little bit sore, but he loves playing in Alice. 3 or 4 goals and then sub him out.....?
-
PREGAME: Rd 12 vs St. Kilda
Sharp named in the 18, so not going to happen this week. Maybe a perfect sub for Grand Final day?
-
PREGAME: Rd 12 vs St. Kilda
Having not played last week - surely better for TMac to get a full game for Casey. He wasn't going to push out May, Lever or Turner after last week.

PREGAME: Rd 12 vs St. Kilda
Bailey is on his way to Alice. Emergencies are Adams, Henderson and JVR (in Sydney?). Vines will train in Alice!

PREGAME: Rd 12 vs St. Kilda
Interesting that the team list on the AFL site just swapped JVR in for Viney into the 18. I suspect at 5 pm we will find that JVR is an emergency, because he is in Sydney ready to play for Casey tomorrow. Vines is flying to Alice and will train (a little like Clayton did a couple of years ago!) and Henderson will come into the 23. Either Hendo or Sharp I expect to be sub. Don't expect Adams to play. Final question is which plane Bailey Laurie is on....?

2025 AFLW Fixture
Great draw! We miss North, Adelaide and Hawthorn. Only 3 interstate - Freo, Port and Brisbane. 5 home games at Casey, 1 at Ikon against Essendon. Whitten Oval, Vic Park and GMHBA the local away games.... Bring it on!

Changes at AFL HQ
It's not cheap - but the actual cost depends on how you approach the travel/accommodation (drive/fly, hotel/Air BnB/friends), but it is a rare opportunity to watch multiple games of football in a great atmosphere (we managed 6 games - 5 at Adelaide Oval and one at Norwood). Much different to the usual febrile atmosphere of, say a standalone Dees/Pies game. Festival atmosphere - great for football lovers, not just those that live in Adelaide. Exactly the sort of initiative designed for AFL supporters who love footy - long overdue.

TRAINING: Friday 30th May 2025
Thanks Ghosty - noticed that interaction too. Bill hasn't done much wrong and would probably be in the AFL side if we weren't so beautifully healthy. Probably words of encouragement from Richo just "to be ready" when the time comes....

TRAINING: Friday 30th May 2025
The extended squad all present, together with Marty Hore (presumably Marty not yet ready to play at Casey). The Casey squad is already en-route to Sydney. We speculate that Laurie was present this morning, until it was clear that Viney had completed all his protocols. Laurie did not participate in the match sim (Henderson and Adams did). So we suspect that Laurie may fly to Sydney to play with Casey and Adams and Henderson will travel to Alice as carryovers. Kosi does look a little sore and had his ankle re-strapped - hopefully he "gets up" for an Alice special. After training there was an interesting session with one unknown individual watched (and taped) by our recruiting team. We speculate that it may be an Irish possible. Finally the women appeared for their session. We still await an AFLW fixture......

Changes at AFL HQ
I attended a function earlier this year at which Laura Kane was the keynote speaker. She was asked about the number of direct reports she had and whilst answering the question accurately and diplomatically, there was a clear suggestion that she simply had too much on her plate. I am not surprised at this announcement, just perplexed as to why it didn't happen before the men's season began.
