Every time I look at Weideman, I see Michael Newton. Same build with those broad shoulders, same running gait. I am also worried that Weideman, like Newton is just a straight line, mark & kick player. Seems to lack agility, lateral movement & aggression. Gee, I hope I'm wrong.

This game has confirmed that Mitch White & Jack Grimes are Delists. Just not athletic enough is White and not good enough is Grimes. Vandenberg & Kennedy are a real concern, both should be doing better on more consistent basis.

I hope I'm wrong because we need his kicking ability, however, big question mark on pace and athleticism. I think a defender with these defincies will struggle with the current defensive style. Can we clone Easton Wood?

Having just read that some fools think Stretch should be dropped after yesterday, I'll turn off and watch the tennis. Besides playing well, he has what we don't have much of and that's genuine leg speed.

The entire panel of On The Couch has just written Dawes off. Was singled out as being the primary player that now must make way for the future as we can now not possibly play finals. It has been stated that apart from being a good player, it his aggression & toughness that we seek so much. I can understand this as there certainly isn't any mongrel in our defence apart from a little in Jetta. There certainly isn't any chance of any "unsociable" footy from the 2 x MacDonalds, Lumumba, Frost, Salem, Garland, & Wagner. An opposition Forward has more chance of getting a hug from that lot than something that might have them looking over their shoulder.

I must admit to getting so frustrated at the FD's insistence at playing Frost up forward that I personally approached Brendan Macartney at the Casey v Sandy game to firstly enquire about his personal opinion on Frost and then in a very respectful manner I expressed my opinion that I believed Frost was never going to make a Forward as long as his ass pointed to the ground but with his pure athleticism and closing speed was a real chance as a KD. i will tell you that Brendan was very engaging but made it clear that he thinks he will be capable at both ends but prefers him more as a Forward.

I would suggest O MacDonald is getting picked ahead of Dunn and whilst I think Oscar will be a player, he is 2 pre-seasons away.

Call it hindsight or test of time, but let's all understand that this Pickett deal despite its few cheap thrills, was just one of many very poor trades/selections that contributed to the post Daniher horror years. At least I'm consistent, hated him as an opposition player and never saw the sense of recruiting an over the hill, superannuation top up.

Paid massive overs for Picket, in fact, I seem to recall one of the Picks we gave away for him was eventually used to recruit the current Kangaroos Captain, Andrew Swallow. A very short sighted trade.

I just think that every side has at least 1 forward that you have to lock down on and not give him a bloody inch!!! Garland can be that guy for most forwards in the 180 - 195 cm range. On Sunday he would have been perfect to assign ALL DAY to Stringer. Gee the Forwards who used to have to put up with Craig Kelly's pinching & scratching all day must be thinking how they would have loved this Diamond.

I would like to ask Mahoney if he knew we were going to adopt these type of offensive structures in Defence when he signed Garland for 3 years. No star Garland, but a solid, man on man defender who has proven he can play tight and negate talls & smalls. An athletic, quick and intercepting defender he will never be. This type of defence requires more Easton Wood / Bob Murphy than it does Col Garland / Mick Gayfer.

I thought Michie was solid and composed and certainly shouldn't be dropped on today's performance. Out : Garland for Dunn, Harmes for ANB & Hunt for Lumumba Jack T comes in if there is a suspension. I'm assuming Kent will need more time out. IMHO both Harmes & Bugg are both just dour, hardworking, tackling players who just don't give you enough decent possession so I would just play one of them and would definitely have ANB & JT ahead of both of them when all are match fit.
