  1. Rest assured, 99.9% of the Hopefuls will be BIG enough to celebrate the 'premiership against all odds' TOGETHER without the pettiness of I told you so's. I hope that gives anyone food for thought that wants to bang the drum about being correct, if we do fail this year.
  2. I for one look forward to an easier draw next year if this year is a straight sets fail #SilverLinings #OddYearsNotEvensThisTimeRound
  3. Our performance last week should beat Brisbane this week. Looking forward to seeing Tom McDonald back in against Geelong though. Melk would have to kick 5 to keep him out, and even then you'd still make the tough call for TMAC and his structural importance. And then we might just put Melk at half forward. I did have a dream last night that ANB was a medical sub in one of our finals. Hilarious that DL team selection infiltrated a dream.
  4. Hardwick seemed non-committal about whether Jack Riewoldt will be offered another contract in his exit interview tomorrow. Could we offer him a 1-2 year contract playing offer and a position as the forward coach when he finishes? I'll put my hand up and say I have not watched much neutral footy this year so I don't know how he's going in general re his physical ability for 1+ more season, but his record speaks for itself - he's in the upper echelon of modern day forwards alongside Hawkins and Kennedy, his contribution on and off the field could be invaluable for the next few years. If we're delisting Mitch Brown and attempting to trade out Weideman with 1 year left, then perhaps he would be perfect depth and a valuable player/coach at Casey, and would be ready to replace Brown or TMAC on form and injury when required so long as he backs himself to play again, and it seems like he wants to go on another year at Richmond . Everyone is taking it for granted that JVR will be ready next year, but you just don't know that yet - As for where he fits in with Jackson/Gawn and Gawn/Grundy well of course we are at risk of being very top heavy. It's probably a conversation to be had at the end of the season as we assess how T.McDonald and Ben Brown go, but it won't cost much and it's a bit of a free hit at 300k a year. Not much to be lost, plenty to gain.
  5. The pre-finals bye was the one factor that we couldn't actually plan for based on past experience, given how much of a topic the training loads to replicate 2021, has been around these parts. The r23 pressure that Brisbanes defence put up can't have helped prepare us either! Curious indeed.
  6. 1. Was the round 23 domination of the Lions, in hindsight, not ideal preparation for the ferocious pressure the Swans brought defensively ? Looking ahead to the Lions: 2. Could we expect a few surprises thrown up by Fagan to test us tactically? (If you were Fagan, what would YOU do?) 3. Even if something has served us well in the past, going back to it again and again, might be the fastest track to elimination, given our opponents are adapatable and can prepare for it. Are there some positional or tactical changes we still could make to what we did in round 23, to ensure we get the win?
  7. You could almost call it a Blessing In Deesguise
  8. The pocket/halfforward/wing/bench rotation could have easily seen Laurie or another player get an opportunity to not only prove himself, but force others to prove themselves to supplant him - whether he makes it or not is anyones guess, but at least every line is kept on its toes. EDIT: I meant mid-year. Whether Goody makes a big gamble now is unlikely, but who knows.
  9. Just count your lucky stars that nobody has been brave or stupid enough to dig up the 'Is Goodwin The Right Guy?" thread... yet.
  10. We were in trouble the moment you changed your avatar!
  11. They have a team of bulls.
  12. Is that a direct quote from a Richmond fan after witnessing Mason Cox destroy them in 2018?
  13. Not a fan of this reasoning. If all these things take place, then we are back to level pegging. So you're going to deny the opposition a chance to respond? And no doubt on a night like last night with their winners around the ground, Sydney would have responded and won it in a close one.
  14. A TDK tape of the 1989 Panasonic cup? Edit:
  15. Only have to see how the Dogs bottom 6 wilted last year, turn overs in the back half and Fritsch burying Easton Wooden Casket with 6 goals - Massively exposed when it counted. And back in 2020, those back half turnovers by Geelong in the 2nd half as they tried to play the safe possession game up 21 points lol.
  16. Option C. Goodwin, Pert & Gawn lead an expedition to penetrate the Jackson Compound deep in Freo territory by stealth and convert Grandma Dogga into a Demon. Convincing her in the process, to use the threat of changing her will, to garner the Mother's support in allowing Jackson to stay at the Dees for another 2, possibly 10 years.
  17. Would love to see Freo knock them off for the 3rd time in a final in Victoria
  18. Another year like this one for Tomlinson next year as a 30 year old with his contact ending, and you'd just about rookie Omac as depth on half the money instead.
  19. Sheez Louise!
  20. I reckon the Saints with their pre-game laying down meditation in the centre bounce might be taking it too far though. They might be calming their minds, but it seems like something that would relax your body and make you drowsy. No wonder they come out lethargic. But what would I know.
