Had a game of footy today so didn't watch it, and picked up the phone to check the results. Was not one bit surprised. I need to watch the reply. But reading this thread it sounds like our so called guns in Oliver, Viney and Petracca failed to stand up when needed. Looking at stats I think its time to rest Kozzie and Jackson by the looks of it. I'll get caned for this, but I have felt it's Jackson who is the weak link in our forward line. Does a lot right around the ground but adds nothing up forward. Very disappointing result.

Watch both Weideman a d Brown not get a kick and we run with the small forward line.

Danger game. Reckon Giants will come out firing after 2 poor weeks in a row.

Surprised to be honest. Our forward line structure has been poor the past couple of weeks. Don't care if it's wet or not. Brown needs time to build cohesion and chemistry with McDonald. The wet weather excuse is a cop out. Fritta, Spargo, and McDonald need to fir this weekend.

Base his work on his ruck skills and around the ground stuff, not his one little weakness that can be easily fixed. -
Yeah... so that actually what happens when you don't kick goals in any game, you lose the match. But cheers C Obvious.

Whilst I do agree with all of that and have loved watching Jackson's development. But people have underestimated how bloody hard Jordon has worked to get into the position he has. Was picked up in the draft in the 2nd round when many draft experts tipped him to be a rookie draft selection. He's then had to tailor away in the VFL for 2 years with disruption last year through injury. Was delisted then picked up as a rookie. Puts in a fantastic summer to the point where the coaching staff have no choice but to pick him. Prior to the bye he was top 3 in the AFL for tackles and is currently averaging 18 disposals per game playing in one of the best midfield in the comp. Not only that he's actually having huge impact on games with his toughness and hardness, but also his ability with his two way running. Obviously I am bit bias because I've known Jimmy since primary school days as he's best mates with my little brother, so bit of conflict of interest I try to avoid discussions around him on here. But even to my surprise his development has been absolutely through the roof. Just feel like Jordons consistency has been much more apparent then Jacksons. Jackson may well win the RS, but I love the Diamond in rough types like Jordon.- 142 replies

I'd have Jordon ahead of Jackson personally. -
Goodys presser. Few points, - Ben Brown right in strong calculations now. Could be potentially this week. - Club is happy with Kozzies work. Defensive work and running off the charts and club is happy with his performance. Confident he'll hit scoreboard soon enough. - Jones is really strong and is hungry to get back into the side.
-
Wouldn't be surprised if Pickett is managed this week. By managed I mean starting as a medical sub. My ins would be; In: Brown, Jones Out: Sparrow, Pickett. Medical sub: Pickett
-
Well that's actually incorrect.

From Alan Richardson. Take a look below as Richardson reviews some of Casey’s best contributors: Ben Brown 14 disposals, 8 marks, 5 goals “We really liked Ben Brown’s game, and it’s not just about the scoring – we were pleased that he was able to get some reward with five goals, but he moved really well. He’s been building his game, his training has been positive and we’ve been expecting that form to transfer to game day and it did on the weekend. If it is that we were to make a change to a winning team, he’s done everything right.” Nathan Jones 36 disposals, 11 clearances, 6 tackles, 1 goal “Nathan Jones has had a really strong period of playing good footy for about a month. He did get a lot of the ball, but we were really happy with the way he played his role and really pleased with the way he executed. He’s always been a beautiful user of the footy and the weekend was no exception. His leadership in the VFL has been really impressive – it hasn’t been about him, it’s been about the team.” Sam Weideman 21 disposals, 11 marks, 10 hit-outs, 1 goal, 3 behinds “Sam Weideman had an impressive game, but not what you might expect. His role was to play as a high forward and a bit in the ruck. He got a lot of the footy, Weids, and moved really well. He would’ve got a lot of confidence out of having 21 touches – he missed a couple of shots on goal, but we really liked the way he went about his game. He would’ve been disappointed to be out of the team but he did what he needed to do.” Jake Bowey 26 disposals, 18 kicks, 7 marks, 4 tackles “Jake Bowey had a really strong game. He’s a really creative half-back and he’s been working really closely with Troy Chaplin on making sure he has a real clarity on what he needs to do from a defensive point of view. It’s not just about beating his man but helping others and for obvious reasons, he’s a first-year player, it’s been a work in progress. But that’s starting to come together and he’s starting to put pressure on there. If it is that we were to get someone injured, we’re starting to get really comfortable with where he’s at that he could come in and play that role.” Aaron vandenBerg 28 disposals, 8 clearances, 7 marks, 6 tackles “Aaron vandenBerg is playing good footy. He’s hitting in hard – we expect that. He’s running well, he’s helping others, he’s a bit like an on-field coach the way he supports and directs. He’s done a lot of work with Fraser Rosman who plays on the wing – Rosman is really improving. So Vanders has done well there, but his own form is heading the right way. We’d feel pretty comfortable, now that he’s been able to get a bit of continuity in his training and his games, because that’s been his challenge really. We have always said that he makes us a better team, we’ve just been worried about him being able to string training sessions together to be a really consistent performer, and he’s getting there now.”

Was Stringer quiet? He ended up with 24 disposals and kicked 1.2. I've been a big believer that on form alone this year he simply gets a new contract with the thought that he'll play majority of games potentially in the VFL much like what Jetta and Nathan Jones are doing now. Makes sense why the club is potentially looking at Brayden Maynard if all reports are true. The perfect replacement.

WELCOME TO DEMONLAND: DANIEL TURNER
dazzledavey36 replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
Played his first game of VFL yesterday and I wasn't one bit surprised that he actually played very well. He adjusted straight away and didn't look one bit overawed. Playing against senior hard men in the Ovens and Murray league has certainly helped his adjustment. The club just want him to play a good block of consistent games in the VFL just to get up to speed with pace and structure. While senior games aren't probably in the picture, the club has certainly told him that if he is in good form and a spot opens up then he'll be seriously considered. For now it's all about developing his game for the long term future. Well done Disco!- 240 replies

I just think Sydney will start to fall away. I honestly don't know why, but more so on gut feel. I think they'll still make the 8, but cant see them doing much damage.
