Jake Melksham
This is a good point. I think the club would like to really have a look at Bailey Laurie next year who's very skilful by foot and plays that high half forward role. Melksham has never been quick, but his smarts and IQ had made up for that. But I think even that's catching up to him. There is a theme when you're playing in Melbourne's forward 6 and that is you've got to bring immense pressure and tackling. Unfortunately again this hasn't been a strong part of Melkshams game. Even if he cannot find a home next year he's still a good experienced depth option to have.

Would suit GC or North Melbourne. Adds experience and leadership. At his age he'd be worth a late 4rd round pick or 4th.

The Curfew
WJ I'm a fan of Caro and always have been. She's one of the very few journo's that gets more right then wrong. But it really is a nothing story. Sam McClure jumped in last night after the story broke out and said he was at training yesterday and stated he couldn't believe how happy the boys were joking around and being jovial. Gary Pert was on SEN and pretty much confirmed there were no issues with it. It's clickbait rubbish because there is nothing else to talk about in the week off.

Was shaking my head in complete disbelief when I watched this last night. Just a real nothing story.

AFL TRADE NEWS AND RUMOURSÂ
CONTRACTED DEMON OPEN TO MOVE MELBOURNE forward Jake Melksham is open to moving to a third AFL club despite being contracted to the Demons for next year. Melksham joined the Demons at the end of the 2015 season after being originally a top-10 draft pick at Essendon. It is understood clubs are aware Melksham, who has played 12 games this season and is contracted at the Demons for 2022, would be open-minded about a switch after being squeezed out of Melbourne's first-choice forward line. The 30-year-old most recently played in two of the Demons' final three games of the home and away season, kicking three goals across those games, but has not featured in its finals side.

Sam Weideman re-signs until 2023
I forgot where I read it, but It was something along the lines of the reasons why the coaching staff moved Petty back to the backline was to more so protect his body a little bit from the crash and bash as they felt his groin injury from last year was resulting in being overworked the year before as main key forward. The other key aspect was that they rated him enormously down back, but also like that he now is now well versatile that if they need to swing him forward they can.

GRAND FINAL: Melbourne vs Western Bulldogs
It's a big ask for a kid. I don't think we can heap that kind of pressure onto him on a significant day. Look to Alex Neal Bullen or James Harmes i reckon.

Adam Cerra
Also loves the Melbourne lifestyle. I can't see us doing this Cerra trade. We have no draft selection to please Freo. As much as Freo keep asking for Jackson he ain't leaving at all.

But Jayden Hunt, who has now returned to full fitness from an ankle injury, is pressing his case and remains a huge chance of being the 23rd man.

Sam Weideman re-signs until 2023
I have no idea. The issue with Weideman is that it's obvious he takes things to heart pretty easily and that head just drops when he makes a mistake. When he does that it affects his game and that's him gone for the day I think it's definitely a psychological thing. I'm sure he sees a sports psychologist but maybe he needs Goody just to give him some clarity and tell him they'll back him in over the summer and Mark Williams takes him under his wing and just install some much needed confidence.

Premiership Players
I've been a big believer of this as well and have been for a while. I look at the Jayden Hunt situation this year where he's pretty much played all season and contributed immensely to the position we are in now and doesn't feel right that he's pretty much missed out.

Grand Final Day - What will you do?
Love how you've blocked me but still trying to throw a couple of haymakers. I'm literally living rent free in your head. The above post doesn't change the fact you really are a piece of [censored] stain of a human being and a genuine oxygen thief @WERRIDEE

Thanks Jonesy - Retirement
I honestly think the best thing for Jonesy if he were to get into coaching is to actually go to another club and start his apprenticeship there. Learn a whole new system and culture. He's been at this club for over 15 years and I think sometimes you can get a bit stale. I think going to a club lehere he can develop new skill set would be great for his development. Think of Adam Yze.

Strange post. This isn't how footy clubs work. And to say that if We've really turned a new leaf we must keep him at the club at some capacity? Why do they need to be kept on to inspire younger players? Aren't Max Gawn, Petracca and Oliver not already doing that? We've treated Nathan with the absolute utmost respect better then any other club legend. We gifted him to 300 games even though there was a raging debate whether he should have even played this year or not The club has done the best it has for Nathan Jones. The best thing Nathan Jones can do right now for his family sake is maybe take 12 months off and just focus on his family. But that's my opinion.

CHANGES: GF vs Bulldogs
Yes let's just leave it up to the coaching staff Shaun.. Maybe do an article on 30 other blokes that deserve a chance and they'll say the exact same thing.

Thanks Jonesy - Retirement
A sad day for the footy club and also a day of celebration of a fine career. Thank you so much for all you have done Jonesy during some of the darkest times in this footy club. There are no fairytales in footy but I hope you're able to reflect on the contribution you've made in getting us there. From a different person I think now the club can now move on from all the Nathan Jones noise. Was starting to get a tad worried it was going to be a bit of a distraction, but once he made the decision to leave WA her made the right call for his family. The number 2 is a very sacred number at this footy club.

Isaac Smith
While I'm sure Isaac maybe had a small "what if" type thought after the loss, he still has 3 premierships that he can hang his hat on.

GRAND FINAL: Melbourne vs Western Bulldogs
Good. Make it all about them. Keep it low key for us. Was interesting seeing the footage of the doggies celebrating and carrying on after their win in the change rooms, whereas we kept it low key and went back to the hotel room with dinner and a few quite beers. You'd think it was the doggies who hadn't been in a grand final for 21 years...
