If this is official I cringe to think that we may lose a big man during the game - the bench is full of midgets .

Though he must have been chuffed to be given the award for BOG on the weekend ( perhaps undeservedly IMO , because of Valenti's great game ) I couldn't help but feel sympathy for Newton when being interviewed after the game , and being asked what it was like to have a prodigy playing along side of him ( Watts ) .
With teeth obviously clenched , he was very magnanimous in his comments , but you could sense that he was secretly harbouring the desire for his most obvious long term rival for the FF position to die .
-
All week, the talk of how many possies G.Ablett would get, how good is he? blah blah blah
And our first centre bounce today, NOT ONE PLAYER WAS WITHIN 5 METERS OF HIM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
then just trots off and kicks the quickest, easiest goal in the history of the AFL
2nd bounce, junior had the presence of mind to stand next to him!
Whilst we covered him pretty well, the start of the game was just plain dumb
Yes I noticed it too and wondered whether any forethought was put into team planning at any stage .
This was THE biggest oversight ever imaginable , and who was to blame ?
-
I see now that Yze_Magic is on one of his regular holidays, you're desperately trying to find another target (preferably one that is not of the view that Bruce is god's gift to football)
Unlucky for you, I'm not gonna bother feeding your cravings for an argument.
We all have our thoughts on players. Joeboy does a great job each week with his 3 word analysis. Not because he is always right, but because his opinions stimulate conversation.
That is the point of the thread, and why it has become a weekly post-game tradition on Demonland.
For some reason he didn't like me disagreeing with him (or couldn't see how what I said contradicted his thoughts
), but that is of little relevance to you or your agenda.
I have no qualms with anyone disagreeing with my points , however I'd appreciate those who disagree with me making the effort to present their case in 3 words , thus making it a fair comparison .
If I thought anyone could be bothered reading a thesis each week I could also do my analysis in that format and I could thereby quite easily cover every single aspect of a player's performance .
-
Didn't realise we're not allowed to disagree with you.
Also I notice many people use more than 3 words to elaborate on your posts. This is what the 3 word analysis thread usually turns into, in-depth player discussion.
Oh and am I supposed to care whether or not you respect my opinion, because I didn't get the memo
You don't have to be a smart ass about it , but if you say you disagree then at least present your case in a comparable fashion .
-
Disagree with a lot of those today...
Bartram - poor skills, great endeavor
Bate - terrible again
Bennell - quiet game, great skills
Bruce - terrible skills, poor judgment
Davey - continues to shine
Dunn - ruins anything he does well, with a chain of horrible actions
Frawley - brilliant
Johnson - better than last week, but still not enough
Jones - take the first option!
Maric - can get the ball, but can't kick??
McDonald - tired
Martin - great up forward
McLean - frustrated and frustrating (was I the only one who saw him swear angrily when he came off the ground towards the end of the match?)
Meesen - provides an actual contest
Miller - worked hard as always
Moloney - great tackling game
Morton - future superstar
Petterd - better out of defence
Rivers - disappointing
Robertson - good to have him back
Sylvia - 2 good minutes a game is not enough Colin!
Warnock - stuck to task
Restrict yourself to 3 words and then I might respect your opinions .
It's easy to add - on provisos when you're unrestricted !
BTW , there doesn't appear to be much difference between your points and mine anyway .
I

Is this game as bad as it sounds? Bad skills, good endeavour, hardly any goals... not dull, but a long way from watchable?
And however good our defenders are, our forwards are twice as bad...
Yes , excellent endeavour but abysmal skills
-
Looking at the forecast for sunday, rain, chance of hail, thunderstorms, a top of 14.
I think this will bring this contest back to a more level playing field. and if anything advantage melbourne. We won't be shown up for a lack of foot speed, and a lack of polish on our skills.
Also looking at body size in the midfield we have the bigger stronger bodies than Adelaide.
Thoughts?
There's a slightly built chap by the name of Thompson in the mid field for them who apparently might beg to differ

Got back from Adelaide after watching game live at AAMI, assiume a lot of comments were from watching the game of Fox, try drinking less beers.
Only take exception with the following:
Warnock had a really good game, with the bombs raining in, Rivers got caught out on Treadrea a couple of times but he had good game as well.
Jones was outstanding as was Bruce, even had a couple of Port supporters ask me who Jones was as they were impressed.
Jetta, what is wrong with you people, he is playing just outside the square, I counted a least a couple of tackles, and he chases and chases and covers, he got a nice goal and gets his hands on the ball.
Bennell was moved forward in the last qtr after a good game in defence and showed he is going to be a good player.
Bruce was outstanding, same with Davey and Green.
I was only disappointed in Sylvia (again0 and the middle, actually got the ball but looked 'slow' , Moloney, McLean need a somebody zippy next to them, Davey tries it but can't be everywhere.
Jonhson was underwhelming
Well as your report was apparently as a response to my 3 word analysis , I don't understand your snide comments about my observations being tainted by the consumption of beer ( which I don't drink ) From what I can gather your remarks were in almost total agreement to mine but only more wordy !
-
I think he meant to say 'meaningless junktime stats'.
No I didn't !

Jones - understood his limitations
Martin - has been better
McLean - gave little drive
Meesen - not a dud
Miller - solid but flawed
Moloney - was all heart
Morton - a constant presence
Petterd - classy but lost
Rivers - solid and improving
Sylvia - woe is me
Warnock - was easily outmuscled
-
During a brief 'grab' on SEN this morning , our esteemed coach was quoted as saying that Johnson and SPENCER had been playing reasonable football , but both needed to step up today .
Does he know that one of them isn't playing ?
-
Joeboy, did you get these the wrong way around?
Actually I may have not given Morton enough credit , but I stand by my comments about Davey - I thought he was awesome
-
I find it interesting so many put Davey BOG. Aside from the fact he hit targets I actually thought he caused more harm than good. He stood sideways from the player with the ball and then when it was given to him offered no run but just chipped it to someone else. I would assume he was there to offer run but I did not see it.
Davey was the ONLY player in our team to break lines and find targets with pinpoint accuracy , and provide tackling pressure .
I believe it was one of his best ever performances for the club

Liam is obviously quite an exciting player. I haven't seen him at all yet, all I know is what I read on here.
What type of style of player is he? If you had to equate him to an AFL player, who are we looking at?
Adam Goodes with ostrich legs
-
I think it was "Greatest Ever Exponents of Perfection Football". We also had a banner which read, "Melbourne, Masters of the MCG".
Yes , you're right .
