  1. Really disappointed with last night on two levels: 1. Same issues as previous weeks. Poor goal kicking, leaving the corridor empty for dogs players to run into at ball ups inside forward 50, repeated high bombs out of contests, not kicking to our forwards advantage, poor forward 50 structure of our talls (always in the same area) 2. For what was actually a pretty cracking game, the enjoyment was completely taken away by one of the worst umpiring displays I can recall. Even my wife who follows the dogs, could see it was poor (she never admits anything). For what was turned out to be a 20 point win to them, I don’t think we were a 30% (20 divided by 65) worse side than them. Felt like it should have been less than a goal win to me. To be honest, if we played then in finals I would be pretty confident of winning the game provided the umpiring was fair and even and we could convert a reasonable percentage of easy set shots. Our biggest issue I think is that they have so many players that can easily and effectively swap in and out of the side to suit the conditions and opposition while our next best players are a significant step down. We are one dimensional is a number of aspects of the game, which makes it easy for opposition coaches to work out a way to beat us. Examples include the long bomb inside forward 50 to all our talls standing within 5m of each other and the kick out from behinds to exactly the same spot on the ground over and over again. Anyway, while these lockdowns drag on and on and foolish people march for “freedom” (only to potentially risk freedom by spreading virus), hopefully our boys go back to the same farm they visited early in the year which lead to a new found sense of team and the great start to the season and our coaches watch a few episodes of Ted Lasso for some tips on how to cure Dani Rojas (aka Ben Brown) goal kicking “yips” (we don’t say that word here. See latest episode of Ted Lasso). Have a great week good people.
  2. Out [censored] goal kicking, in anybody who can kick 50% of their set shots
  3. Why do we leave the corridor empty like that, they’ve got 3 goals doing that tonight
  4. Great stuff from Viney rhere
  5. This is actually a really good game, though I’m so angry with the poor umpiring standard I just can’t enjoy it
  6. OH [censored] OFF WITH THESE RUBBISH FREES
  7. It’s round 19 and the last time we kicked more goals than behinds in a game was round 12
  8. Jeezus Christ learn to [censored] kcik
  9. Umps must have dirt in one eye. 11 frees to 4 now
  10. Can we get some bloody luck
  11. At least they have been consistent on that tonight, now for the other 10 rules which are being paid differently to each side
  12. Why did Macdonald kick it to where the 6 Bulldogs players were camped going inside 50 there?
  13. 5 scores each and they are double our score
  14. We are the absolute worst at kicking it to our forwards advantage
  15. Goddam it we need to be kicking these goals
  16. No I don't think its major, you stated it was negligible, I stated it was not negligible as scoring that one extra goal per game would have led to two additional wins to us. I did not say major. I would agree with your second comment about scoring accuracy. We would have won both the games mentioned above with an even ledger of goals/behinds in those games. In any event, can't wait for the game tonight. My wife follows the dogs and me and the 3 kids are all Demons members. Could get ugly at our house this evening!
  17. One goal per game would mean we would have beaten both Adelaide and hawthorn and be 2 games clear at the top of the ladder. It’s not negligible.
  18. Purely for balance on the subject and for comparison purposes: Dogs last 7 games as per your stats: - 83 goals, 88 behinds (171 scores) (48.5% accuracy) Melbournes last 7: 13.9 v dogs win 14.13 v lions win 9.9 v Coll loss 9.14 v Ess win 7.13 v Giants loss 12.14 v Port win 11.13 v Hawks draw Total: 75 goals, 88 behinds (163 scores) (46.0% accuracy) We definitely have a better defence than them, but would say on those numbers, their offence is better.
  19. Closed skills are skills not affected by the environment
  20. Excellent post ?
  21. Everyone’s entitled to their view. Im interested in how you arrived on 4 times, and not say 3 or 6 times? What was the metric? I saw a guy get caught repeatedly when trying to weave around players and the combination of him and Viney was just too slow. One of them at least needs to be out next week in my opinion and if I were the coach I would use Harmes in his best role which is a tagger who can still rack up useful possessions and sparrow as an outside mid and have both JV and AVB out of the side. as an aside I would use dogga in the ruck more and keep gawn inside the goal square for the 1000 long bombs we seem to do to the hot spot each week where the opposition marks uncontested.
  22. I feel like all the attention on him played into his dreaded plan. Mwah hahahahhaah
  23. Another thing that was clear to me, JV and AVB are too slow to try and duck and weave around opposition players. Sparrow comes in for one of them and Harmes replaces the other. Harmes is a better tagger and Sparrow has more upside than either
  24. There is one closed skill in football, set shot goal kicking. The one that is next closest to a closed skill is Max’s taps from centre bounce. I say it’s close to being a closed skill, because on the most part he is so dominant in his tap, that is very nearly a closed skill and unaffected by the opposition ruck. Interestingly, we are really poor at both areas. We haven’t kicked more goals than behinds for 7 weeks now. And the amount of times Max’s taps are going into a space surrounded by 3 opposition mids is mind boggling. If both of these things improve, we start smashing teams. The problem is, THEY ARE NOT IMPROVING!!! I want to know why not, because to continue down the current path in this area is to ignore and squander two potential advantages for us
  25. It’s now 7 weeks since we kicked more goals than behinds in a game
