2024 Phantom Drafts
Timothy Reddan-A'Blew replied to Demonland's topic in Trade, Draft & Free Agency
Serious question: these different characteristics that a midfield needs to provide - inside / outside / run & carry / ball use / etc - If players don't have all or most of them, how is a game plan based on a particular combination of them sustained through rotations? My point: Players need all or most of the characteristics; so, for example, 'elite ball user' (just using this as an example, sons; it could have been any of the 'needs' that come up herein) isn't enough by itself. Discuss? -
Who could tell, from this, that just 27 days earlier, had come this, on a much more consequential 'Number 2': https://www.nfsa.gov.au/collection/curated/asset/96113-menzies-speech-declaration-war Some learnings, that never seem to sink in...

Sorry about the long address, but here's a bit of what you're referring to Mr Stone 😊 https://www.google.com/search?gs_ssp=eJzj4tTP1TewTEsptzBg9BIoKUosyyxWyMrPyCsuyc9LBQCGDwnd&q=travis+johnstone&oq=t&gs_lcrp=EgZjaHJvbWUqDAgEEC4YQxiABBiKBTIGCAAQRRg8MgYIARBFGDsyBggCEEUYOzIGCAMQRRg7MgwIBBAuGEMYgAQYigUyBggFEEUYPDIGCAYQRRg8MgwIBxAuGEMYgAQYigUyDAgIEC4YQxiABBiKBTIMCAkQLhhDGIAEGIoFMgwIChAuGEMYgAQYigUyDAgLEC4YQxiABBiKBTIMCAwQLhhDGIAEGIoFMgwIDRAAGEMYgAQYigUyDAgOEC4YQxiABBiKBdIBCDE5NDNqMGo0qAICsAIB&client=ms-android-samsung-ss&sourceid=chrome-mobile&ie=UTF-8#fpstate=ive&vld=cid:d87d7f97,vid:VsAWKj1999I,st:0

All earsay.

Also, I think the timing has been openly foreshadowed for some time? I'm sure all those interested in it have prepared to make time to dig into it during their longweekending.
-
And another, slightly different, recollection: https://www.afl.com.au/news/533286/demon-recalls-1948-gf-draw

And here it is in The Age, right near the end. Wouldn't it be fun to find some vision? https://www.theage.com.au/sport/afl/drama-of-1948-had-everything-20101001-1615l.html

Time to change 'Quits' to 'Retires', @Demonland? 😉

https://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/1686641/letter-from-brad-green-club-update (Sorry, just had to!😁)
-
[There's no coming back from being eaten! Except the waste products, I guess...] I'd say there's a good chance there'll be another letter to Members from Brad on this one, possibly with the Jones acquisition, too.
-
More in this, too (subject to reliability of source/s): Chippendall interim CEO. Smith to chair in 12 months. New Board member Chris Barlow.
-
So, slowly unfolding: - End of year, not immediate. - Continuing with Caulfield project. Come on, Club. Facts, please.
-
'Sources', said he told 'staff' (Shun) or 'the club' (Rage) this morning. I wonder what the circumstances were that the Club didn't have a release ready to go alongside this?🤔

Nathan Jones joins MFC as an Assistant Coach

That was my initial impression, too, BA, but I thought he eventually showed improvement, possibly as confidence improved? -

@Demonstone, @Cranky Franky and @hardtack, can we tempt you over to NoT$NoB$, where Herzog and Fassbinder will feel very comfortable? (I appreciate that might be a bridge too far for you, at least, Mr Stone!😄) -

This: 'It's taken some work to repair some wounds left from the end of 2021.' -

He just couldn't help himself, Tom. '...some wounds left from the end of 2021...' And, Tom, apart from having this intimate knowledge of Nathan's feelings, providing you with the fuel for a mandatory dig at Melbourne, you're saying if the wounds weren't there, he'd be back at the Club, in this role, even earlier, not needing the 'work to repair' said wounds? -
Welcome to Demonland: Blake Howes

Thanks for the Laughs, @Wilson7 and @Jeremy. I was actually sort of serious, just from the way he moves on the footy field. But @dazzledavey36's response reminds us all (you were with me, @DeeZone, with your Like?!) of the stark difference. So the Laughs were well warranted!😄Lever really was some get, eh? We can only hope Howes provides as much 'Lever' as possible - perhaps now a little delayed - in the coming years. -
While we await the start of training, this has just popped up on the Club's website. It's sort of relevant, inasmuch as it's an indicator of some of things that training creates, as they manifested in 2024. Maybe some surprises herein; some discussion may result, too! https://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/1686412/gps-numbers-revealed-fittest-and-fastest-demons (p.s. The cynic in me raises its 'Why now?' eyebrow at the timing of this 'feel good' story!)

AFLW TRAINING: Tuesday 29th October 2024
Timothy Reddan-A'Blew replied to kev martin's topic in AFLW Melbourne Demons
I posted this over on the Hawks game thread. Curious, the reference to (optimism about?) 'next week'!😄 Anyway, it also confirms most of the unavailables for Saturday. https://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/1686096/injury-report-skipper-to-test -

There must be some quiet optimism. See how many times 'next week' is mentioned here: https://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/1686096/injury-report-skipper-to-test -

How does he compare with Lever at just 21? Fairly well, I suspect? -
Will there be a corresponding resurrection-riding thread on here? 😬
