When will Melbourne break these embarrassing records?

'Twas an Olympian effort either way!? -
Luke Jackson - Rising Star nomination

Ouch! What about Jimma? (though I take Bob's point on the ballet skills, which weren't in Stynes's playbook) I'm thinking of the combination of in-the-air and off-the-ground skills. -
I do love a good read!...

When will Melbourne break these embarrassing records?
Timothy Reddan-A'Blew replied to praha's topic in Melbourne Demons
And a further rider, Bush, is that we have beaten current 5th and 6th but have yet to encounter 2nd, 3rd and 4th (and 7th and 8th). I don't know (but am tempted to obsessively research!?) who we had beaten in our next-best season start... -

The Goodes comparison works for me. Also, Jimma? -

May be deliberate in this case, for all the Johns he gets?... -

James Jordon Re-Signs Until 2023
Timothy Reddan-A'Blew replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Just clarifying, Second Verse, this is the players' first 'x' games in the seniors, since debut in the seniors, but aren't consecutive games, as James's have been? Bryan Kenneally's, for example, were rounds 11 (debut) and 12 in 1959, then rounds 2, 5 and then 6 to 15 in 1960. James does indeed have a little way to go, but I wonder where he sits in the consecutive games since debut field? -
Nathan Jones's debut was more than a year away.

More than just shades, DA!? Can someone do a side-by-side video of The Wiz in Round 11 1998 and Kossie in Round 7 2021? From first gather of ball, to ball through the sticks, it's 17 seconds Farmer, 16 seconds Pickett. ...and I've gotta say, while the runs are equals for effort and tank, Kossie's shows of skill street Jeff's straight charge! (as do the respective involvements of teammates btw!)

Back to Back Blockbuster Friday Nights for the Dees
Timothy Reddan-A'Blew replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
LOL, "Back-to-back blockbusters", not "Back-to-back-to-back blockbusters" to include QB. Not our fault!... -

A fascinating analysis of that here, Doc: https://foxsportspmd-a.akamaihd.net/free/nogeoblock/2021/04/26/DVU_260421_HIBBERD_V_MARTIN.transfer_202104261759/DVU_260421_HIBBERD_V_MARTIN.transfer_202104261759_1596.mp4 Good on you, Mr Hibberd! -
Smith - Barassi - Blight - Goodwin
Timothy Reddan-A'Blew replied to Wizard of Koz's topic in Melbourne Demons
Au contraire (eventually!); he was one of those lucky few able to turn that fleeting '10-year rule' into a premiership (North Melbourne in the mid-'70s thus providing me a 'second team' to get interested about) -

...I, for one, think it will, btw!?

BDA, I think the find-out will be whether the game unfolds and concludes as a true 'undefeated-vs-bottom' game should.

The ANB Appreciation Thread
Timothy Reddan-A'Blew replied to leave it to deever's topic in Melbourne Demons
After Neil's 'hang-me-now' post and P2J's ?, I feel enough in a safe place to raise something that has been nagging me for some time. Serious question: someone, somewhere, referred to ANB as a future MFC captain. Was it on here? Or where might it have been? (maybe I dreamt it, because Hy-phens would seem to be natural MFC captain material?) -
Didn't know where else to put this, and not worth a new thread, but Bayley Fritsch's 22-year-old brother Darcy was on SEN this afternoon having kicked 20 goals 4 behinds for Coldstream on the weekend (14 goals after 1/2 time...). Had one praccy game for Casey during 20-COVID (and also tried out for the other R&Bs, Norwood?) Is taking the break that 2021 at Coldstream offers but sounds like he might try his hand again - hopefully at Casey? - next year.

Coaches Votes - Max takes the lead
Timothy Reddan-A'Blew replied to Big Col's topic in Melbourne Demons
Media discussion (sorry...) after this weekend has toyed with Petracca verging on being the 'new Dusty'. If the comparison were to be/become fully accurate, I'd be happy for it to go all that way, Mazer! (On a side note, I'd also be happy for the opposition to have our Charlie around their necks - as in albatross, not as in free kick...) -
The Charlie Spargo Appreciation Thread
Timothy Reddan-A'Blew replied to dazzledavey36's topic in Melbourne Demons
So Hibberd (mainly) got the 'FM' this week. Can't argue with that, looking at the package - and the influence on the outcome! -

The Charlie Spargo Appreciation Thread
Timothy Reddan-A'Blew replied to dazzledavey36's topic in Melbourne Demons
My first sighting of this. I'll expect to see it on the club's 'Fierce Moments' post! "SpargoPickettNealBullen..." is now a fixture of Goodwin's pressers. -

Timothy Reddan-A'Blew replied to Altona-demon's topic in Melbourne Demons
With only the club website to go on (long story!...) my vote is for the chain to that 9th goal, starting with Rivers's spoil (missed it on my first few viewings(!) until seeing Goodwin's presser then the OP), then Hunt's length-of the-ground repeat involvement (with Riewoldt(*) in fruitless pursuit, LOL), and the cameo handballs along the way. Spoilt only by Neal-Bullen not being allowed to complete his run into goal or dish off the handball to Jackson for his third run-in goal of the night. (*Lowlight of the night: Riewoldt, presumably running the length of the ground to do so, pathetically shoving Pickett after the tail end of the last-goal rumble)
