Welcome to Demonland: Jake Lever
We clearly know multiple teams have more money than us to throw around yet aren't pursuing Lever, so that tells me a fair bit. Close to the team would imply he was almost in it. Find me one expert or even Bigfooty poster who had Lever in their AA team. He was not close to being in it. He was lucky to be in a squad of 40. Not sure what Oscar has to do with any of this, he is a KPP. You have mentioned Lever as a key position player in your post yet as other posters have pointed our repeatedly, He is not a KPP. If he was, then he would have many more clubs going harder at him. The amount of money tells me that we aren't a destination club which the club wants to be and we hardly have a great record with high profile recruits.

Welcome to Demonland: Jake Lever
Firstly, he is not an AA and quite frankly no one would have had him close to the team. He was listed in the squad but was never going to make it. The fact that no other club is willing to spend that kind of money on him is just as telling, despite you having more of an idea than all of us that don't want to pay overs for him and the 17 other AFL clubs. Where would you rank him with our younger players? Oliver, Hogan, Viney, Petracca and Lever. Can you please order them 1-5 so I can get an understanding.
-
Welcome to Demonland: Jake Lever
Will he be in our best 3 players? I don't think so, therefore we shouldn't be paying that kind of money to him.
-
Welcome to Demonland: Jake Lever
Yes and no, his agility is poor and he doesn't fully commit to defensive acts often when he is the only player within the vicinity and the team needs him to, but he has shown some strong signs with his tackling in congestion.

I would love you to explain how you know Stanley played a defensive role on Lever. Stanley is just simply not good at finding the footy so it may have appeared that was the case, but I don't know how you could know it was the case.

Sounds like the old two is better than one. So glad we ended up with Tyson and Salem.....
-
Welcome to Demonland: Jake Lever
I wouldn't. Salem and Weideman are our pick 9's. The jury is still well and truly out with Jason Taylor. Despite the reputation of top 10 picks, picks between 6 - 10 in the last 4 or 5 drafts off the top of my head have netted very little and would be a disaster. Unless you are getting a top 3 pick it is a terrible idea.

Welcome to Demonland: Jake Lever
You were questioning my use of scapegoat, anyway lets get back to football. I have not forgotten that he had a poor period in 2016, he was poor in the back half of the season as he was for much of this season. What I do remember is him standing up in the last quarter of the grand final and being a major reason the bulldogs broke away from Sydney. I can understand why people don't want him and despite my stance on Lever, I do want him, just at the right price.

Welcome to Demonland: Jake Lever
It's barely worthy of a reply. There's an 80% difference in goals per game.
-
Welcome to Demonland: Jake Lever
If you want to do semantics. You still haven't explained your use of 'credibility'? And check 'their' - clearly he is a scapegoat for the bulldogs failed season, or did he single handedly derail it?

Welcome to Demonland: Jake Lever
Because it has been reported that Stringer will most likely go for a pick between 10 and 20 while Adelaide are going to request 2 first round picks of Lever. It has also been reported that Stringer would be on around 600-650 while we have offered Lever 800+. The argument about contracted players is stupid in this case and WB have decided to make Stringer their scapegoat publicly. He is gone for whatever they can get. The last part is your opinion. Clearly multiple clubs have no interest in Lever.
-
Welcome to Demonland: Jake Lever
All of what I said is true, other than my opinion which is I would prefer him so I don't see how that relates to credibility, but please enlighten me.

Welcome to Demonland: Jake Lever
Yet he has still kicked 68 goals in that period.

Lets keep facts as facts. He does not intercept more than any other player and NEVER has. He led the league in intercept marks, not intercepts. Dominated? Haha he played a good game in a great team performance, he most certainly did not dominate. 15 touches and a few big spoils which everyone gets excited about when an actual player dominating would have marked them instead of punching to the boundary. ADELAIDE v GREATER WESTERN SYDNEY8 Brad Crouch (Adel)8 Eddie Betts (Adel)5 Matt Crouch (Adel)4 Tom Lynch (Adel)3 Callan Ward (GWS)1 Luke Brown (Adel)1 Richard Douglas (Adel) Lets talk FACTS if you want, but lets stick to facts. There's a reasons Adelaides offer isn't close to ours. I would much rather Stringer given he would cost less financially, significantly less trade wise and has a higher ceiling as a footballer.

I agree with the philosophy but just don't think Lever is the one.
-
Welcome to Demonland: Jake Lever
While I agree with the first part there is the counter argument that if you are paying a player 800k+ he is worth more than pick 10. He would become our highest paid player. Would we trade our best player for pick 10? Clearly not. My preference would be to walk away in this case but unfortunately I get the feeling the club will cough up big time.

Welcome to Demonland: Jake Lever
Cant edit but the 2nd one is Hogan.

Welcome to Demonland: Jake Lever
If we trade 2 first rounders and pay Lever 800k the club has lost the plot and is in no way a destination club as they will try to claim. By my calculations that would make him our highest paid player, and one that has achieved little at AFL level. It would set a shocking precedent and cause other players to hold out like Martin. I would guess Prestria being offered similar money to him had a major role in delaying contracts throughout the season and then signing for 500k a season above his original offer. Oliver, Petracca and Oliver are all better prospects and other clubs will be waiting to pounce if this occurs. He would want to start being a key position player if this happens.

Welcome to Demonland: Jake Lever
No, I would say I've watched probably 70% of his games this year. Coffs up Tom McDonald style goals most games I see. Rarely plays on good players and is part of the best backline combination in the AFL. What do you disagree with from what I said? Is 16 possessions a good return fora 3rd tall? Is he a better than average kick? Is he quick? Does he play on good players? Name some he has played in if so. Are Smith and Laird not good runners?
-
Welcome to Demonland: Jake Lever
Is a third tall with average disposal and not amazing pace. Struggles on key forwards. He has good runners beside him at Adelaide but without them he would not offer nearly as much. 16 disposals a game is very low for a third tall.

Welcome to Demonland: Jake Lever
Is over rated by more than people just on this site. Our FD is we have offered him 850+ The AA selectors

Who? were we watching the same game? Harris Andrews makes Oscar look like a speed demon. McStay kept kicking it to us. Their opponents kicked 9 goals.

2017 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
I have only seen the foxtel games for this crop including last year as 17 year olds, but he seems to really overrate the talls in this draft. I think Braysahw, O'Brien and Hunter Clark are much better prospects than he is giving them credit for. It seems others rate Stephenson a lot higher also, but he is one I find hard to judge. Don't like his kicking action at all. Jason Taylor said something similar about the talls coming through in the draft in the podcast.

Salem doesn't have that kind of value.
