  1. lol, of course we have some faith, we are finally close to being a power club again after all these years. Doesn’t mean we can’t be annoyed with getting way unders for a player we had high hopes would help lead us to a flag and could be one of the better forwards in the comp. Especially after taking a stance we want high compensation for this player. with lever, he was out of contract and wanted to leave for the dees. We had “the upper hand” and eventually caved for overs. wheres the overs for hogan when we are losing the player?! In contract and hasn’t requested a trade.
  2. Trading Hogan for May is still a disgrace. MFC always get shafted in the deal, sick of it. I'd lol if May got suspended during the finals and missed a potential GF.
  3. 5 and next years first is totally reasonable for Hogan. we should only be taking “unders” if we just won the flag .. which we didn’t.
  4. Mahoney: “We think he’s going to be right up at the highest that anyone has been traded for and we think that Fremantle have that opportunity with some picks that they may gain.” "Basically, if Fremantle want to get Jesse Hogan, they know the deal they have to give for us and Jesse's aware of that. "They haven't spoken to us about anything that entertains us at all about doing a deal."
  5. I think he was referring to this quote from Mahoney the other day: “If you stack up a 23-year-old key forward and everything he’s done over his career stacks up against everyone so we think he’s right up with the highest anyone’s been traded for and we think Fremantle might have that opportunity with picks they may gain,” Surely 5 + next years first is closer to a fair trade than 5 + 23 - if he ends up being traded.
  6. This is true, however MFC should not except either 5+23, 16+17 or 11+16. 5 + next years first is a better starting point. we need something closer to two top 10 picks.
  7. For sure. We already saw Hogan move up the ground this year. If he can sneak inside 50 every now and then and get 1 on 1, watch out. In the goal square with 2 blokes on him - no.
  8. It has to be two firsts minimum or GTFO. Lever out of contract - two firsts. Gibbs 28yo - two firsts. GWS want two firsts for shiel. + how many more examples? If we took anything less than that, it would be one of the worst trades of all time. Hogan stays unless freo pay up.
  9. I'd be disgusted if we traded Hogan now. If we didn't get two firsts at least, that would be embarrassing to say the least. Freo can GAGF, Hogan is happy to stay and if used wisely, can improve our side so much. Dont need May. Hogan > May by a gigantic amount. Keep Hogan out of the goal square and we win.
  10. I just wonder if our awesome core young players will keep the band together ala hawthorn long term, rejecting huge pay offers. I really, really hope so.
  11. The real problem is the forward line coaching. Bomb it long to a pack, wasting Hogan's abilities, and turn it over. I would love to see our scores against for turnovers, we would be top of the ladder. Def can't do much when everyone has pressed up because we go inside 50 and turn it over. Also, barely anyone for us can take contested marks.
  12. Hogan is our guy, but sadly we flood the goal square the bomb it long over and over, so he has no chance to mark it. Get the hell out of the goal square people, make a lead. If hogan can't mark it, Jeffy can grab the scraps. But nope, lets bomb it long to 15 guys and hope for the best. Genius.
  13. Our biggest problem all year has been going inside 50, and then defending on the turnover. Utter garbage at both, and they do the same thing over and over each week. Need some massive changes when going forward.
  14. Whoever is #1 at hitting targets inside 50 should be the next trade after lever if we can get him, we must be ranked 17 at this, only slightly better than Collingwood.
  15. The best stats to follow imo are: Contested possessions/uncontested possessions Clearances Inside 50s Inside 50 efficiency (scoring shots from inside 50s) Scoring efficiency (accuracy) Score for/against All year we have been good at contested possession, clearances and inside 50s. We have had heaps of uncontested possessions as expected from being handball happy. Our biggest issues are poor inside 50 efficiency, mainly from bombing it long repeatedly with no affect except turning it over. Some of best wins came from not doing this and hitting up great options (adelaide game for example) Another main issue is score against from turnovers, we shoot ourselves in the foot way too often with turnovers, undoing good work very quickly. Half of the potential winning formula is there, but we need major help with the following to win a flag: Going inside 50 Handball game + turnovers. As others have said, choosing the right option and taking the right time to make it is a major issue.
  16. Did anyone hear "pure footy" today. They did their ladder predictions today Marko and the Ox had melbourne fourth, and David King had them fifth. Dees have a nice draw this year, but wow, fourth/fifth!?
  17. Poor skills and turnovers killed us last year, and looks like being our biggest issue again this year. Hopefully we can have less of them. Looking at the fixture, we should have 12-15 wins. The WCE game was slightly deflating, and now the Saints game scares the **** out of me. The worst part is that you can tell how Melb will play for the day in the first 10 minutes .. and it stays that way for the whole game. Watching these games are torture, just hoping they will turn it around, but it never happens.
  18. some old skill errors, mistakes, turn overs and loose opp fwds taking marks. We work so hard to get a goal, and then they get one right back. Oliver is awesome. Gawn ruck work amazing. How melbourne were out to $4 for this game is also weird.
  19. I'm looking forward to Lewis clotheslining O'Meara at some stage next year, you know it's going to happen.
  20. I just don't get why someone could be bothered, especially when they have been on the money in the past. There have been multiple too, and just last week there were the Lewis rumors which came true a few days later. All I know for sure is that all the journos say Lions want him out pretty badly.
  21. I think we are now a "destination club" after the Lewis trade. it looks like we have a chance to get right up there over the next few years and have a dreaded "premiership window" - while some of the other clubs are dropping back like North, and maybe even the Hawks. We might see a few more players like Lewis try and speak with the Dees to jump on board if 2017 goes well. As for landing a big player, I am more keen on landing a quality player at the right price. If we somehow did get Rocky, for effectively a second round pick, and the Lions paid a chunk of his pay ... that would be amazing. We have such a good bunch of young players who could be major stars, we don't need to go crazy and pay overs for a Fyfe etc. Keep the team together and add quality if it comes along.
  22. I really don't get how people can have pretty detailed info, who are trusted posters, for there to be nothing behind them. Sure, it might not work out in the end, but there must be something happening with Rocky for all the noise to be coming out from multiple places. Same with Fyfe to the Blues. many people have said that there have been meetings, but there has been nothing really said about it. Surely that wouldn't be all made up?
