why is everyone losing their [censored] over picks 7&8? historically, this is a "good deal" considering some of these trades that went down... Essendon trades pick nine, 2019 1st round pick to GWS for Dylan Shiel and 2019 2nd round pick. GWS trades Jeremy Cameron and two 2021 2nd round picks to Geelong for pick 13, pick 15, pick 20 and a 2021 4th round pick. Fremantle trades Lachie Neale and pick 30 to Brisbane for pick six, pick 19 and pick 55. Adelaide trades Patrick Dangerfield and pick 50 to Geelong for pick nine, pick 28 and Dean Gore. West Coast trades Chris Judd and pick 46 to Carlton for Josh Kennedy, pick three and pick 20.

i think we can all agree that geelong are very successful, and have the "standards and culture" to continually achieve that. what if the way to become successful was to gut the place and start over? what if your version of success doesnt align with SK version?

Farewell Christian Petracca
just say we got pick 7&8 from GC and then pick 14 from GWS, would WCE or RICH trade pick 2 or pick 3 for 7/8/14? that would give either WCE or RICH 3 picks in the top 10 instead of 2.

probably a bit random, but dangerfield was traded at 25, and traded for .. "Cats have given up young midfielder Dean Gore as well as picks No.9 and No.28 to snare the superstar midfielder." if GC offer 6&7 (0.0000001% chance) then MFC should take it at run before they change their mind. a more likely offer would be 6 OR 7 + late first round, assuming no other players are involved from GC

Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver in 2026
im confused. petracca said he wanted change and likely didnt ask for a trade, just get better. the club made changes and eventually sacked the coach and have a new voice. you cant really make more changes than that. so the club is doing everything he asked, but people still think he is gone for "reasons". makes no sense to me, unless he and the coach dont see eye to eye for some reason. id be betting he stays unless a club offers overs and you cant turn it down.

Who Will Be Our Next Coach?
seriously, what is with the rush? who cares if it takes an extra week or two if you get the best possible coach?
-
Who Will Be Our Next Coach?
well at least King comes from a club that has sustained success over a long period, and geelong doesnt put up with bull**** so thats a bonus al i want is a team that is ruthless from the first bounce to the final siren

DD saying no is pretty devastating really. pretty much the most respected of the options, with the highest level of recent success ..

Who Will Be Our Next Coach?
i wonder how much it would cost the AFL to get her to come out and replace Snoop. whatever the price, it would be worth it - the obsession levels with her are pretty much unheard of since the beatles

Demons Ponder New Strategy Boss
probably a noob comment, but it would be insane to not focus on an AI related role (if it doesnt already exist). 1 - track real time player movement and spit out strategy updates 2 - track historical team strategy changes over the last say 2-3 years 3 - combine historical and real time strategy trends to work where the edge is, and calculate out the probability of future strategy adjustments a real time example would be setting up a camera system to cover the ground. using techs and AI, assign each player and track their overall behaviour. this could tell you what strategic moves are being made and how they change in real time. obviously teams do this now by watching the game, but it could be so much better with AI

Who Will Be Our Next Coach?
mechanically speaking, how does this work? essentially you have the gameplan/strategy and the players if the gameplan is not the best with low downside and huge upside you have no chance, and/or if the players dont have the skill to implement the strategy you have no chance. so you are essentially betting that the coach will have the best strategy, and/or that the coach will get the players to execute the strategy well. since so many second time coachews have failed, did they fail because their strategy wasn't the best or could they not get the players to execute the strategy? additionally you dont know when the best strategy will fail, overtaken by a new one that nullifies the old ones upside and cannot defeat its new strength. surely you would be moving towards AI. analyze all teams strategies. determine how they can meaningfully evolve work out a new strategy that suppresses the others upsides while coming up with the next thing the opposition cannot compete with
