  1. Heya Stuie (and Goffie small!) I will probably die . . .laughing!! Listen I'm trying sell space on the players other forearm. Had offers from the "save the whale" people and a few diehards from the "give Ireland back to the irish" want in! But if you want to make an offer on behalf of your "society of the pure and just" better be quick . . offers close 6pm! Chrs
  2. This is a great idea! Lets take the attention away from our pathetic on field performances by turning our players and club tunic into a moving placard supporting a highly controversial and divisive opposition player!
  3. Ordinary people! According to Chip During the AFL negotiations with Hird (2013) Tania told Gillon: "you are a disgrace and so is your organization", you disgust me!". So now at last Hirdy has taken aim himself at the head AFL Honcho (regardless of any non-disparagement clause in the "settlement"!) I wonder if he is modelling his strategy on Malthouse . . . Hey Little! dare you to sack me?
  4. Ahoy! Tonite Wada reveal new evidence sure to send the good ship Doper and the rats who sail her to a watery grave!
  5. Our work here is almost done! James Hird’s Bombers on Sunday plunged to their fifth straight defeat in a loss that raises fresh speculation about his own future and the club’s direction. That losing streak is the worst since his side lost its last seven games of 2012 as Stephen Dank’s catastrophic peptides regime backfired so horribly. And yet if Essendon was for a time able to shrug off those continuing controversies to thrive, three years of investigations now have this club on its knees.
  6. Re Mitchell: Nathan Buckley said on Fox 360 last nite "happened on the field, was based on fact, move on!" He could have said that Mitchell was just "venting" cos he was cheated out of a Brownlow in 2012!
  7. Hird should be forced to eat 50 hard boiled eggs!
  8. I think he is telling them to watch ABC's Outsiders tomorrow morning! Something about Peppytides!
  9. Think I heard me somewhere's them Bombers was caught doin a big OL injection program and some namby pampy writ a book bout it! Reckon little Sammy just saying what a good read it were! Ain't nothin wrong with that! NOW GET OORF MY LAWN!!
  10. A little birdy told me to watch Offsiders tomorrow morning??
  11. Stephen really did spit the dum dum! Maybe he thought the ACC would protect him for services rendered? Now I reckon he's aiming to take a few down with him! A FURIOUS Stephen Dank says the AFL will feel the full force of the law after the Herald Sun broke the news to him he has been banned for life. The AFL announced today Dank had been issued with a life ban, effective June 25, by the league anti-doping tribunal. The ban effectively means Dank cannot work again in any major Australian sport. The Herald Sun informed Dank of the verdict at Moonee Valley Racecourse at 1.30pm, where he was being interviewed on stage by Mike Sheahan. A visibly shaken and angry Dank immediately telephoned AFL chief executive Gillon McLachlan and AFL anti-doping tribunal legal counsel Justin Hooper. Heraldsun 5pm
  12. Best keep James away from court rooms . . remember last time!
  13. Hey Chip you need to take a look over here . . . . . Mick G UNDERWORLD figure Mick Gatto says he was enlisted by the key witness in ASADA’s case against Essendon players to help sell information that could clear the Bombers of anti-doping charges. Gatto claimed he offered biochemist Shane Charter’s untold story to media, including 60 Minutes, for up to $400,000, but that there had been “no interest”. http://www.heraldsun.com.au/news/victor ... 7130030661 Shane Charter STRATHDALE gym owner Jarrod Butler has been cleared of drug importation charges. A jury in the Melbourne County Court yesterday found Butler, 38, not guilty on charges of importing a Tier One good and possessing ephedrine. On April 18, 2004, police arrested Shane Geoffrey Charter, a former personal trainer and pharmaceutical salesman who trained elite footballers at Butler's gym, the eelgood Family Fitness Centre. http://www.bendigoadvertiser.com.au/sto ... g-charges/ Clients ranged from strippers to millionaires to James Hird Few lifestyle coaches can boast a client list as broad as Charter's. He has instructed Brownlow medallists, underworld identities, strippers and even millionaire businessmen on how to get the best out of themselves.Charter said in 2002-2003 he had about 30 AFL players from six clubs on his books. One of those clients was James Hird, then making his way in the stockbroking firm Goldman Sachs JBWere. Charter says Hird introduced him to the firm's then managing director, David Evans, now Essendon chairman. He said he worked with Evans and six of the company's directors as a ''holistic health trainer''. http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/clients-ranged-from-strippers-to-millionaires-to-james-hird-20130419-2i5m1.html Mario Salvo A MULTI-MILLIONAIRE Essendon coterie member has emerged as the fixer who brokered a peace deal between the Bombers and a key ASADA witness. Property developer Mario Salvo, a long-time friend of witness Shane Charter, arranged crucial talks between the biochemist and senior club figures as the AFL tribunal hearing approached. http://www.heraldsun.com.au/news/meet-t ... 7292301387 Stephen Amendola, Hanke, Burnside [censored] Boys muscle up in Essendon drugs war. Yesterday’s Crikey item on the spinners and lawyers descending on Essendon threw up some interesting connections, many of them forged in the notorious 1998 waterfront dispute. Before his pivotal role in the O’Connors meatworks spat, James Hird’s lawyer Steven Amendola worked on the MUA vs Patrick case as counsel for the Commonwealth — he was there as barrister Tony Pagone’s junior solicitor and was friendly with Hird spinner and Liberal operative Ian Hanke. The waterfront dispute was a huge story, bigger than the Essendon saga. It was national and had political, commercial and legal ramifications on a massive scale. That’s where these boys earned their stripes. And of course, there’s also the link with union buster Chris Corrigan, who was the boss of Patrick before it was forcibly taken over by new Essendon chair Paul Little’s Toll Holdings. To cap the incestuousness, Hird has now hired Julian Burnside QC, who was MUA counsel in the waterfront dispute against Hanke, Amendola, Corrigan and Peter Reith. When it comes to IR and AFL, Melbourne is far, far less than two degrees of separation. http://www.crikey.com.au/2013/08/02/tip ... mours-935/ Forget "Underbelly" I'm hangin out for "Essendonbelly!!
  14. Speakin of worksafe, duty of care, players responsibility for what goes in their body and about a million other issues, try this . . . From Chips book posted on bigfooty! "Only it wasn't El Paso Texas, it was bought in Juarez, the Mexican city that joins with El Paso. How do we know this? Because the Essendon lawyer fought to have the Mexican drug changed to New Mexico, then had to retract and state it was in fact, bought in Mexico." I know it's a serious issue but I just can't stop laughing: Ok guys lets see what we've got for ya today. Mmm . . how bout something with hint of Ol Mehico. WTF!!
  15. AFL clubs take more than $88 million from pokie players in 2013-14 financial year VICTORIAN AFL clubs creamed more than $88 million from pokies punters in the last financial year, with Hawthorn and Carlton leading the way. Collingwood and Essendon also generated more than $10m in the year to the end of June. Gaming revenue has become such a factor in football that AFL boss Gillon McLachlan recently cited it as one of four chief reasons why the league had introduced equalisation measures. The 19 gaming venues operated by the AFL clubs generated $88.7m in net gaming revenue, according figures published by the industry regulator. http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/afl-clubs-take-more-than-88-million-from-pokie-players-in-201314-financial-year/story-fni5ezdm-1227102811873 . . . . . . . . Hypocrite "a person/footy club who pretends to have virtues, moral or religious beliefs, principles, etc., that he or she does not actually possess, especially a person/footy club whose actions belie stated beliefs"
  16. Gambling bad but Bombers good! AFL giants Essendon have turned their back on the lucrative world of wagering, announcing they will not consider sponsorships from betting partners. In a move aimed to curb the impact of gambling messages, which have become prevalent in modern sport, Bombers chief executive Xavier Campbell said feedback from the club's near 60,000-strong members was important. "We certainly respect the right of betting agencies to advertise in sport," Campbell said. "But as an industry we need to proactively monitor the way this message is delivered particularly given many of our fans are children." Oh pleeease! http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/essendon-say-no-to-sponsorship-deals-with-betting-agencies-20150625-ghxh33.html
  17. "never send to know for whom the bell tolls; it tolls for thee."
  18. It's all just a storm in a teacup (er vial)! Despite the claims, there is no evidence that the Thymosin administered to players was Thymosin Beta-4, as supported by the following: · There is no evidence that Thymosin or Peptide Thymosin is Thymosin Beta-4; · There is no record of Dank supplying Thymosin Beta-4 to Essendon; · There is no record of anyone invoicing Essendon for Thymosin Beta-4; · There is no record of anyone administering Thymosin Beta-4 to any Essendon player; · There is no record of anyone witnessing anyone administering Thymosin Beta-4 to any Essendon player; · There is no record of any Essendon player admitting to having been administered Thymosin Beta-4; · There is, however, a record contained in a spreadsheet on Dank’s computer of Thymodulin [sic] injections. This information was one of many crucial issues inexplicably omitted from the Interim Report. · There is evidence that Dean Robinson, the EFC high performance coach, emailed Dr Reid, the EFC senior doctor (copied to others) a list of supplements to be administered between the mid-year bye and the 2012 Grand Final, which included ‘Thymomodulin weekly.’ Thymomodulin was not WADA prohibited. · There is evidence that that development coach, Dean Wallis, searched inside Mr Dank’s office fridge, locating and photographing a vial of Thymomodulin You can chase a wild goose but they are quite hard to catch! source: some Essendon flunky!
  19. David Parkin at a coaching clinic 10 years ago said the only legitimate means left to hurt your opponent was to trap his arms and drive his a/c joint into the ground! Great way to rid the game of champion players!
  20. Chip just confirms what we already know: Hird was only "the coach" hired to put out the witches hats, no involvement at all with any nasty stuff. According to Hird, McLachlan urges Essendon to invite ASADA to investigate the club because it “would look better for us”. Immediately after the boardroom meeting, Evans, Robson and Hird are to face a media conference where they will reveal that Essendon is under investigation for the use of performance-enhancing drugs. Hird’s instinct is to do nothing of the sort. “I was certain we hadn’t given performance-enhancing drugs and I wanted to say it at a press conference and I was advised if I said that I’d look stupid,” Hird says. Lukin urges Hird to take ultimate responsibility. It is made clear that for the sake of the Essendon Football Club, he needs to take his seat at the press conference, to say what he has been asked to, to play his part. The decision to take on Demetriou and, if necessary, expose Evans, was carefully considered. Hird’s lawyer Steve Amendola does not confirm his client as the source of the Herald Sun story but makes clear his view at the time: Hird would not survive as Essendon coach if Evans retained control of the board. “My view was, and it had been for a while, that as long as Evans was president Hird was going.” Hird receives a call from Evans. Demetriou has just been on the phone to Evans, livid about what is about to be published. Evans is distraught. Hird feels for his friend but puts the hard word on the club president to back him up. “Mate, you have to tell the truth. I’m a very good friend of yours, you must tell the truth. You will get caught out on this.” http://www.theaustralian.com.au/life/weekend-australian-magazine/james-hird-and-essendons-drugs-scandal-the-inside-story/story-e6frg8h6-1227406060362
  21. Yes....... The Gospel according to Chip! I particularly like the bit where "Saint James" ascends to heaven. Quite moving!
  22. Some more reading . . . (a ploy to keep this thread on page one?) The ‘comfortable satisfaction’ standard of proof: applied by the court of arbtiration for sport in drug-related cases Dr Chris Davies This article seeks to examine Briginshaw3 in regards to standards of proof and the context of the ‘comfortable satisfaction’ comment made in the case. general principles of evidence relevant to the discussion will be examined. the main purpose of this article, however, is to examine these principles, particularly standards of proof, in a selection of Cas drug cases, to see how closely Cas adopt these common law principles in the conduct of its arbitrations. it will also examine the question as to whether Cas operates more like a common law or a civil system body. the article begins with a brief overview of the common law principles relating to evidence. Cas has also made it clear that ‘oth the initial arbitration panel (as with the initial decision maker) and the appeal arbitration panel are not bound by the rules of evidence and may inform themselves in such manner as the arbitrators think fit.’22 these points must therefore be kept in mind when examining Cas decisions, even though Cas has applied standards and burdens of proof, presumptions and also made use of both direct and circumstantial evidence, all of which are found in the common law rules of evidence http://www.google.com.au/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=1&ved=0CB0QFjAA&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.austlii.edu.au%2Fau%2Fjournals%2FUNDAULawRw%2F2012%2F2.pdf&ei=-rCEVfSTKoTmmAWs5YHQBQ&usg=AFQjCNHx6Mfx3rXDvMvXPvbderu6Y7YWnA
  23. Well he was a gun player but . . . Essendope/Hexarelin and wasn't there some betting thing a few years back? An untried coach with baggage does seem a strange choice for a club trying to re-invent itself.
  24. So, are we dumping that tanned, muscular looking fellow who seems always to have a gun in his pocket?
