This team has been rubbish enough that anyone good enough could have carved out 60- 80 odd games since 2008 or 09. Every opportunity for young players was on the table for the taking. Injuries hurt these guys, but people forget that they put in sub par performances at vfl level when they were fit and when spots were up for grabs. Bail was probably the least talented of the lot but has quietly accomplished 65 senior games in that same period. Good luck to them.

McLean burnt his bridge on the way out with the public tanking fiasco. Had he just avoided the media and kept a good relationship with his old club then there might have been a spot for him on a rookie list. I can't see anyone grabbing him.
-
He wasn't on their rookie list for long. Something is definitely up here. He either isn't an AFL quality prospect, or the crows have hit the panic button and broomed out one too many. It all depends on how our cards fall on draft day. 2&3 will be used for best available, 40 on a need, 42 on Stretch and 53 on Jetta. If 2 of those 3 live picks are not mids, Roos and co will go bargain basement shopping for a mid for the rookie list. Batters might be an option.

He will stay, and get paid handsomely.

Membrey is St Kilda bound each way you spin it. Saints shafted us by forcing our hand in the Frost deal. I hope someone else slips through to the PSD pick 2 that make the saints regret taking Membrey.

If Howe is out of contract next season then we know there is some currency out there for him.
-
Pick the best available, if it is Roos then grab him.

Wow, you would be hoping GWS have some cap room, if not they are going to be raided. Half that top 10 belong to GWS! If we have some cap room we surely can look at getting 1-2 players on that list.

I don't think he wants to come here and play "bruise free footy"......

I have been big on Wright for a while now. Don't think we will take him, but I will be interested to see how he is developed and if he ends up being a dominant tall. Very intriguing prospect.

For once we turned over the bottom players on the list (Mitch and Chip excluded) and actually added 2-3 players to address direct needs in our best 22. In the process we still hold picks 2-3 in a good draft year. Grade it however you want, I'm not interested in grades.I am interested in the direction of the club and this year's trade period has us heading in the right direction.

Our football department has been very active in talks, however the dees can't trade by themselves. It takes two to tango. We are still holding very tradable picks and are probably willing to trade half our list if the right deal comes up. Finish line isn't far away, and we might not be done just yet.
-
Im not convinced we are done trading. If we are high on lever then who is to say we won't trade back in the draft with gws. I am keen on Brayshaw, anyone else of high quality is a bonus.

The crows look to be staying put and will offer Dangers the all the tea in China to stay when his contract is up. What is more interesting is they may need to drop salary to do so. Who would be in their top 5 earners, and of those who would most likely be put on the table?

His second half of the season showed more than his first half, and one could argue that a limited pre-season was the reason for this. Did well at Casey before his call up, and is a hard runner. The bottom line is that the Demons midfield is going to be much to crack into in 2015, as will our best 22. Kent is a player who will have to work hard to make sure his name is on that best 22 list. I can see him taking greater steps forward, and has one unique skill most of our list doesn't have. PACE!!

I remember there being some hype about him the year he was drafted. Along with Watts he was one of the top rated talls, Johnston was a AA CHF at the under 18 championships (Watts was listed a FF for this year). Has been crippled with injuries, but after stints at 2 clubs it is obvious his body just might not be up to the pressures of AFL football. He wasn't able to crack the crows side when he was fit, and looks as though his injuries have held him back to the point where his career may be done. Would look at a rookie list spot, but I would not be expecting him to ever reach the heights that many though he would reach when he was drafted.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - CHRISTIAN PETRACCA
Adzman replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
I feel McCartin will go #1 if the saints hold on to it. He is exactly what they need, and will be rebuilding for a few years which will allow him to develop under Riewoldt's tutelage. Petracca and Brayshaw at 2 and 3 is a possibility. Although, I am intrigued by Wright, I think we will go with 2 mids if given the chance. -
Can't see danger or beams coming here. I think we will be very active but we won't land a superstar.

Jack Trengove re-injures his navicular (2014) - trade deal off
Adzman replied to Wiseblood's topic in Melbourne Demons
Crows said to be offering a swap for Trenners and pick 23 for their pick 10. Trenners has come currency on the table. -

Trenners to tigers....Computer says no -
I think Grimley would come cheap. Could be a last minute deal, as the market won't be overly heated for him.

Maybe the AFL can ban the Hawks from being everyone's freaking nominated club! Just look at that list, made up of key players from other clubs that moved for finals footy!!
-
Might get a look on someone's rookie list. Can't see a trade happening.

Worried and disgruntled about Roos' limited tenure
Adzman replied to Curry & Beer's topic in Melbourne Demons
Roos will be on the payroll as a consultant. This will allow him to contribute from abroad and remain involved in footy. PJ is the guy I would really like to keep around longer. If he can get this club up and running at a higher level then the club is going to be well set up for the future. -
Injury plays a big part in whether or not a player makes it or not. Luck can be cruel for some, and cut them down before they even get a chance to show what they are capable of.
