  1. I love a good trade hypothetical thread, but I feel that people should add ‘How we’d get said player...’ to their suggestions. There are many suggestions here that are in no way realistic if we didn’t trade out Hogan, Oliver, Petracca, Brayshaw or Gawn.
  2. I think it’s better for us if Collingwood win, though I’ve tipped the swans.
  3. Our injury list is one of the smaller ones in the league. Strains, bumps and bruises, especially at the tail end of the season. Ridiculous calling for heads on the back of this. http://m.afl.com.au/news/injury-list
  4. Last year at I swore of Kent, but his efforts in his three matches this year have somewhat swayed my opinion. If we’re going to see what he has to offer at senior level before the list management decisions are made at the end of the year... now’s probably the time.
  5. We're the highest scoring team in the league by quite a large margin - I'm not sure we need to change up too much in that particular area...
  6. The strangest thing is the huge praise that was heaped on Beveridge and the playing group following 2016 was based around their attitudes, relationships and communication. How it has descended to this state is mind-boggling.
  7. Travelling emergencies. Was great to see Lever in there as well.
  8. It’s why having kick-to-kick with a six year old is a very frustrating experience.
  9. Tom McDonald 'threw' the ball in the air before kicking the winning goal against West Coast last year... It seem that the laws of the game don't define the correct way for the ball to go from hand to foot, so it's a goal for mine. As long as it goes from hand to foot, it's a kick.
  10. Reads like an Ancient Greek tragedy.
  11. I really like the way Petracca is settling into his midfield role. He seems to have realised that he doesn’t need to tear the game apart single-handed and do the ‘highlight reel’ things to have an impact. Keep it simple and do it well.
  12. Huge win! Huge win for the club and huge win for the playing group. When we hold onto a few of the close ones they’ll learn how to finish of these matches better. Great experience going forward. Need to hit GC hard next week!
  13. He’d be cheap and a risk (and a ‘realistic target’.). FWIW, I believe there is a place for all shapes and sizes on a modern football field and a ‘gorilla’ would have been pretty handy at Kardinia Park last weekend.
  14. Kieran Collins from the Bulldogs may be worth a look as a cheap pick-up at the end of the year. He got a one year extension last year, but may be cut or traded at the end of 2018. Three years in and form and injuries have kept him to just the one game, but was excellent as a KPD at Under 18 and is a big bodied defender. Still only 20 years old.
  15. True, but that doesn’t necessarily mean he can communicate it effectively. Don’t get me wrong, he was a brilliant player and clearly has a passion for coaching, but his success is no sure thing if his temperament isn’t right. The appointment of Chaplin was a big concern for me given the way he departed Port Adelaide and the exceptionally poor judgement and communication he demonstrated.
  16. Bring a good player does necessarily make you a good coach and Mitchell has had a reputation for not being the most personable or best communicator going around. If we were to go after a former Hawthorn premiership captain, I’d throw the bank at Hodge, but I’d say there’d be very little chance of that happening.
  17. I don’t rate Nic Nat as a fantastic player, but I certainly see why fans (and media) love him. With that said, knowing the attachment and devotion that he has to his family, he would have been traded back west after his first contract over here was up. But in response to the op, I honestly haven’t thought about the ‘what if we had taken nic nat’ for a very long time.
  18. Great awareness and vision in close coupled with an excellent side-step and lateral movement- has the makings of a very good midfielder. May or may not play out the season in the 1st (fatigue, injury, etc.) but I’ve seen enough to be excited about 2020+.
  19. Will wait on the Casey reports but I would be keeping and eye one: Kent (Pace and goal sense if they deem Hannan to be on the chopping block) Tyson (Viney’s absence may give him the opportunity to play in his natural and only position of inside mid) Bugg ( he’s far from my personal favourite, but he finds the ball and has a good goal sense... but average set shot)
  20. Haven’t been able to watch the match unfortunately. Have the commentators mentioned if Charlie Curnow might be out there playing..?
  21. I see a common theme in the inclusions...
  22. Harmes’ best is very good, however he’s yet to show that against strong teams. His performances are somewhat endemic of our whole team at this stage- looks strong, fast and assured against weaker teams, but struggles for time and space against the stronger ones. Personally, I’ve never been a Wagner fan, but the football department have shown time and time again that they are. He’s got all the physical and athletic attributes to be a contributor, but I’m not sure he has it between the ears... Good luck to them both!
  23. Firstly, I can’t believe Freo have a us 22-14 head-to-head... that’s a terrible record against a new(ish) team. Secondly, I’m glad Harley Balic won’t be playing for them this time- he was excellent for them last time we played. Thirdly, does anyone know when we fly out for this match? Would have thought we need some time to acclimatise...
