  1. Sigh. A week of talking him up and now he is broken. Us MFC supporters have a preternatural ability like that. (JACK WATTS!!!! YOU ARE AWESOME!!! WE MISS YOU!!!) Am I doing it right?
  2. Even better reason to bugger off to an island - preferably one without extradition treaties.
  3. He is going a little early on that call, but the Roar never does things by halves. I do agree that it is a very balanced team we are building. Instead of the 2011-2015 teams where you wonder who you can bring in to replace someone, you wonder how the hell you are going to fit them all in. My best 22 runs to about 26. Balanced. About the only two things I think could be improved is having an AFL ready back up ruck... but those things take time and luck, and sure as hell don't grow on trees, and a little bit more outside polish, but even there most of that can be coached when players get confidence in their team-mates and game plan. Let's face it - it's a lot easier to leave your man and run into space if you believe your team will win the ball and won't [censored] it up when they do. The thing I really like the most about this side is how many of them are out of no-where / cost nothing trades. They have the talent and the drive, all they have to do is believe that they belong, and can match it with the best for 4q's then we will have a bloody good side. I think that, and a little bit of maturity, is all that is lacking. Do I think we can do a Richmond this year? No, I think Richmond will do another Richmond this year. I think their talent, maturity and belief will put them right up there again. But if we don't make the top 4 I'll consider it a very wasted year. We should have had that last year but for brain farts, injuries and stupid suspensions.
  4. My mad one-eyed Footscray supporting nephew thinks Gawn is the bees knees. His favourite player by far. And this is a 7 year old kid that can name their entire premiership team and all their scores from all the finals that year. I did have a good laugh when he said he didn't like him as much after he shaved the beard off - I thought the same thing.
  5. I rate him. Some of his kicks to Jeffy in space in his first year were sublime. Those things might get rusty but you don't lose them. He just needs to shake the rust off.
  6. I got laid. I just had to do it wearing a Collingwood jumper. God, I feel so dirty.
  7. Yes. A bloody Collingwood one of all things.
  8. I hate Brown as well.
  9. I just threw up in my mouth
  10. Shag... heh. The only thing I remember about that game was us being shagged in 88. I was in Brisbane at the time, and had to listen to a Carlton [censored] telling me that if they made it they would have put up a better show. I punched him in the face at half time, and he punched me back, then we were separated. Many years later I made a very fine 50 odd not out against his mob with him as the opening bowler. We pushed then out of the finals that day and we made them. I enjoyed the after game handshake.
  11. My two are well on the way to costing me 100K each. Oh, you meant football. Probably less $wise, but emotionally...
  12. I love the use of the plural in premierships. Arrogance and talent can be an exciting mix. Pledging his loyalty to Melbourne, Petracca expressed how important it was for him to remain a one-club player. “It means everything. The club put faith in me as an 18-year-old kid and drafted me, and all I want to do is repay that faith,” he said. “That’s by winning premierships and staying at the club for as long as I can."
  13. Sat through the 190 point loss to Fitzroy. I watched it all. Couldn't leave. I think I was in shock.
  14. The only thing that matters.
  15. I can't believe puja isn't censored here.
  16. I'm quietly confident. I thought we should have finished top 4 last year. We knocked over one Grand Finalist on their home soil, and should have taken out the other but for injuries. Brain farts undid us. Not playing out 4 q's did us. I think, as our list matures, that will get less and less. We have the list and the support... the real question is if we have the cojones .
  17. I hope it's Brayshaw. His kicks to Gartlett in space in his 1st year were wonderful to watch. 3 of them a game will give us 4-5 more wins a year. ANB is a real chance too. Seems to get quietly better each game.
  18. Geelong haven't bottomed out in my lifetime (born 71). A lot of not quite years but never in the bottom 4. Home ground plays a part, but mostly it has been sensible stewardship.
  19. With the MFC I tend to go with Occam's razor - someone in the PR / IT dept accidentally deleted his profile while downloading porn on a lunch break and is now pretending they know nothing about it. Still it's nice to know that we are a united group. We all panic over nothing together.
  20. Balls. They would have beaten Sydney in the 2005 SF but for the Nick Davis show. Maybe they were dodgy in 2007+, maybe not, but to say it was an overnight thing is to rewrite history.
  21. Looks like a poster for an AC/DC concert. I don't mind the idea, but the talk has to be backed with the walk. I think we have some serious hardnuts in our side... on a par with Northey's 80's / 90's teams, so it'd be good to play on that, but we need to play finals to play that sort of card properly. Right now we are walking the walk in some games, and just talking it in others. Who remembers Carlton's 'They know what we are cooking' promo? They sunk faster than the Titanic that year. I don't want to see us trash talking and then finish nowhere.
  22. Heh. Now tell me it isn't Jack
  23. I sent mine back. I told them unless at least one starting 22 player gets hit on the head with a brick by Xmas I won't be able to support such a soft club. Goodwin wrote back asking if it was OK if he got one of his mates in Adelaide to hit Jack Watts with a cricket bat. I'm thinking it over.
  24. What a load of tripe. PA closer to the flag than us? Clearly he failed geography at Brighton. There is a brand new one hanging up at Punt Road. That's only walking distance from us, whereas PA would have to get on a plane AND hire a taxi to be near it. Jack seems like a nice lad, but I don't think he is too bright.
