I reckon the Dogs might get back into form today and put themselves back into calculations. The bombers are an average side who were 4-7 at one point I think. In form now but they don’t have the midfield strength to beat the dogs in finals. Unless the dogs play poorly like last time.

My point is that respect for umps is worse in the AFL than in most other sports. The umps treat the players like school kids, barking orders at them instead of officiating the game. And players can’t touch the umps coz you’d be a naughty boy. Look at other sports where the ref/ump gets respect. Punishing Minimal incidents like this don’t build respect. obviously if he pushed him over or hit the ump that is different I believe mutual respect would be gained if the umps treated the players with more respect. Players would return this respect and fans alike. Punishing incidents like this don’t build respect imo anyway I’m sure I’m on my own here so I’ll leave it at that

Bloody brave selection from Goody and Co picking so many kids in a final with the older boys fit and ready to play. Finals experience will be so important so the young boys. you could see some nervous moments from Rivers and Bowey but they settled. Not Jackson though, not sure that bloke is even human! posted this in the games thread. More relevant here The rules around the umps are ridiculous in the AFL. we need to be getting closer to the mutual respect shown in soccer and rugby. Brushing past the ump and making contact or touching the ump should not even be considered for a suspension. Obviously anything aggressive needs to be stamped out but if we treat umps like protected species they will never get the respect they deserve it would be travesty if Greene misses against the Cats. But based on the past dumb decisions he will miss 3 plus games over a non incident
