you're not giving much credit to supporters there. We shouldn't limit our ethics or behaviours based on the worst behaved player. Toby started as a supporter then became a player. I agree with JjRodan that there is a bigger picture here many are missing. Given Toby 10 weeks won't change the culture around respect for umpires. There is much work to do. eg, if I yell abuse at the umps in my lounge room and my kids observe, etc etc

I saw 3 young kids (under 6 I'd say) wearing demons gear at my local park which I have never ever seen before. A great sign for the future and shows much impact success can have for future members/fans

I reckon the Dogs might get back into form today and put themselves back into calculations. The bombers are an average side who were 4-7 at one point I think. In form now but they don’t have the midfield strength to beat the dogs in finals. Unless the dogs play poorly like last time.

My point is that respect for umps is worse in the AFL than in most other sports. The umps treat the players like school kids, barking orders at them instead of officiating the game. And players can’t touch the umps coz you’d be a naughty boy. Look at other sports where the ref/ump gets respect. Punishing Minimal incidents like this don’t build respect. obviously if he pushed him over or hit the ump that is different I believe mutual respect would be gained if the umps treated the players with more respect. Players would return this respect and fans alike. Punishing incidents like this don’t build respect imo anyway I’m sure I’m on my own here so I’ll leave it at that

Certainly want this bloke playing against the Cats. Missing a final for brushing past an ump would be ridiculous. the Ump looked like he was having a conversation with Toby and continued on and didn’t look intimidated or bothered. play on
