Hawks on the Slide: How Mitchell is making life hard for himself
DubDee replied to rpfc's topic in Melbourne Demons
go on a Cats fans forum and you'll see how happy they are. top 4, 9 out of 10 years for 1 GF and flags is chronic finals failure obviously its a lot more successful than we have been but I would not be happy with almost getting there. it is not the aim I'd prefer the dogs record over the past 10 years over the Cats. Top 4 finishes = zero. 2 GFs, 1 flag -
a lot of average players moving around. worst trade period in years. Pies and Hawks etc stuck with average lists
-
Oh right, didn’t realise that was the other offer. You’d certainly take that if you’re the Cats
-
Hilarious that Clark is holding the Cats accountable for his poor development and making the move to Freo happen. Geelong will get shafted by Freo and I am loving it.
-
Geelong are showing zero interest in their team's mid-long term success. The board, FD and coaches are belligerently determined to get a flag out of their old heroes to the detriment of the whole club! I've never seen a club do this to this extent, maybe the Saints of 2011-12 but you could kind of understand this given their flag drought. Scott's pride and arrogance is going to leave the Cats on their knees for a decade. These days you cannot build a list via trade, just look at the players available this year. The irony is, if they have of used a few high draft picks over the past 5-6 years rather than trading for Dahlhaus/Higgins etc they would have a much better chance of winning a flag in 2022.
-
Dawson for pick 18 is an absolute steal! Swans should have held out for a second rounder in addition. just because it is technically a first rounder doesn't mean much
-
What a great time to be top with young list! with salary cap squeeze and not many players available teams are not able to fill their gaps we didn't need anyone but we still got a decent mid depth player it is hard to fathom the change in the past 8 years
-
O'Meara is a quality player but we don't have room for him. He has never played in a good side so I don't think people realise how good he is. Other teams in the comp should be going hard for him such as Freo.
-
I see the point you are making but as a Victorian the above sounds wonderful right now

This time last year we barely had a vaccine! We should be 80% in a few weeks so calm the farm mate

Hawks on the Slide: How Mitchell is making life hard for himself

Horrible trade by the hawks. Burton is an excellent defender with very good kicking skills. wingard is a decent player. Had good years at Port but he tries when he wants to now -

https://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/1024734/shots-from-the-lockers-demons-celebrate-premiership haven't seen these posted yet. Unbelievable pictures from after the game in the rooms. bedford and Laurie etc being embraced like they were in the ground is heart warming.

20 goals in the last 5 games of the year is not bad hey!?!
-
Definitely Petty for me. His debut at the G had some very shaky moments. I didn’t think he had the temperament Or composure to make it HOW WRONG WAS I?!?
-
A lot can and should change in the next 2 months. I am confident we will have a celebration at the G of vaccinated fans with 10s of thousands attending in December

Who has Ladhams nominated? Link doesn’t work on tweeter

Hawks on the Slide: How Mitchell is making life hard for himself

Clarkson has certainly left the Hawks in an awful state. Very little youth coming through and the senior players are mostly ones that have been traded in, so they have no core leadership to bring them forward. if the rebuild started in 2018 they would be looking good now to bounce back. I think Mitchell is doing the right thing to start a rebuild and you do need to be aggressive, but you have to know the marketplace. there is no one is salary cap space. I would not be surprised at all if Mitchell or O'Meara leave at the last minute and the hawks are paying a chunk of their salary next year. they both came to the hawks for success and now they are looking at years of rebuilding with an untried and seemingly arrogant coach -
Remember the days when we hoped Jones would creep into this? now Fritsch is #16 what a world

What they're saying down at Moorabool Street
DubDee replied to Queanbeyan Demon's topic in Melbourne Demons
Nothing better than seeing the Cats fans complain. Scott getting signed is the best thing that could happen. Keep going for a flag. danger, Selwood and hawk will be gone in 2 years and it will be an epic bottoming out! We’ll be there with the popcorn -
This time last year we had St Kilda odds to win the flag (~$21). what a 12 months it’s been
-
I certainly not peeved with our resignings. Chandler is super quick and has good skills, plenty of upside and why would Bobby be on a similar contract to a virtually untried kid?
-
Cannot believe Mitchell has been calling coaches trying to offload his leaders and best players! I get the feeling he will go down swinging. Culture killer moves last minute deals for O’Meara likely I’d say. Clubs will wait until the hawks are more desperate
-
I don’t doubt Scott is a very good coach. To finish top 4 with that list is no easy feat. He is very stubborn however and if he doesn’t change things up they could go down hill quickly. Selwood and Danger’s beaten up bodies will have to drop off very soon. And the Hawk can’t go on forever. Higgins and Dahlhaus etc are now starting to look like busts and they have very little youth coming through. if it wasn’t for Stewart at the back I’d say they wouldn’t make finals next year
