Mitchell is an arrogant guy. he wants to build his own team. like Buckley who came in and ruined a young premiership team so it was ‘his’. However Mitchell is not stupid, he knows the difference between pick 1 and 3/4 is negligible. Cadman or Sheezel? this is clearly not tanking. trading players out to do a hard rebuild is just that. imo he is doing this as he knows he will be coach for 2-3 years regardless, and can afford a wooden spoon year. then build from there. he wants to mold a bunch of kids and build a team from the ground up.

i don’t think you expect an emotional response 6 months later. Lions were terrible in round 1 and they responded the week later. i expect a similar response next week. Footy is a crazy game, we cannot explain everything. Port beat lions by 50 and lions beat us easily so port are way better than us? no. it’s more complicated. Judge us over a couple of months. dropping a game away to arguably the flag favourites is no disaster. so no, i don’t think friday was a huge issue. we move on. i think a lot of us overestimated our team after round 1 and are now overreacting to round 2

Hard to pick this one. The early rounds can throw up some strange results. After the embarrassment of friday night i expect a big response. JVR in for Gawn. we desperately need some mobility fwd of the ball.

Already the greatest MFC player I have ever seen. Over the past 35 years I had always wished for a gun midfielder and he finally arrived. And he is a down to earth good bloke too! He is so durable as well as skillful, I would back him to get to 300 games in 7-8 years time. and then sign another 7 year contract! ;-)

Tabener has to be the most frustrating forward. 100 games, 29yo and he didn’t even have a scoring shot when he is their main target him and LJ as the key talls is the worst fwd line in the league by a mile

cmon mate. a club is allowed to trade out older players if they reckon they are up for a rebuild.

so why not accuse them of tanking in December last year? the results this year were obvious trading players out for a re build is not tanking

pretty simple. it’s deliberately playing to lose. or coaching making moves to throw the game. trading out senior guys for draft picks is not tanking. or do you think it is?

it is easy. you don’t need to educate players to lose or change players into weird positions trade out good senior players and teach the kids to win. not tanking. i wish we did it the right way but we move on
