Weideman is SO much better in the ruck
I agree. We should acquire Meek in the Jackson deal, and have Meek play VFL and back up for Gawn. Also play Weideman in Jackson’s current role but more as ruck relief for Gawn but gives us that extra forward. Free up the Grundy coin for someone we actually need.

Just as I am sure many of us here are...I am still in a blind rage after losing to the Brisbane Lions.
What an absolutely disgraceful waste of a season!
Especially after winning the first 10 games of the season and hoping to go back to back as Premiers.
What a pathetic end to the finals too.
Dumb turnovers and decision-making and dumb coaching.
I spent over $500+ on a Melbourne Demons reserve seat Redlegs memberships and also bought finals tickets. Only to be served up a big steaming pile of excrement by the players and coaches.
To go out in straight sets is a utter humiliation.
The players and coaches should be ashamed on themselves for that.
No more pats on the back for a "good effort" by the players. We cannot accept such a disappointing end to the season.
We as Melbourne members and supporters should not tolerate this if we want to be a serious AFL Club that demands success. Clubs like Hawthorn, Geelong, Sydney and Collingwood wouldn't accept this.
The Melbourne Football Club needs to know that we as supporters and members won't put up with this type of garbage.
From now on anything less than a Premiership is a failure.
It is going to take me an extremely long time to cool down after this gigantic embarassment!
I demand a Flag next season!
Rant over.
Yep. Disgraceful. I personally don’t believe we had a good year. We ended up second but won many games playing poorly, and nearly dropped games to Essendon, Hawthorn, and North early on in the year. Our finals reflected our year. I don’t believe we had a good year.
What to do from here? That’s difficult, because for all the expertise we have in our coaching box, we still bomb it inside 50. Last night was also one of the only times this year I have seen us switch the play. We looked good when doing so. My advice to the board would be to pay the coach out and look at getting someone else in.

The Goodwin-Melbourne relationship is at risk of quickly turning into a Luke Beverage situation of a coach clearly out of their depth who will waste years with a good list because of one flag
Goodwin is a great relationship builder, and that is a vital trait, among many positive traits he does have as a coach. But overall, there are just far better candidates out there. We have a really good list, and we know it’s more than capable, but it’s going to waste IMO.

Just a lesson in football. Brisbane, like Sydney last week, were just far superior to us. Luckily we got a good start but that wasn’t enough. We have the cattle but without good coaching it’s pointless.

We ended up second but didn’t have a great year. Played well below ourselves. Out in straight sets was the form I’d seen all year. What a waste of what I believe is a great list.

We are done. And don’t deserve to win. Feel sorry for our mids.

That is just really bad to give that last goal away.

Their only goal came on the back of a play that should’ve had Viney receive a free on the wing.

We could be twice as fit as last year and wouldn’t matter. Basic execution of skills are vital in this game, but more importantly - execution inside 50. The aim of the game is to hammer those goals through the big sticks. We got a former ruck as our forward coach, and we’re selling our hopes on Gawn and/or Grundy being forwards next year when their previous history says otherwise. I don’t understand why anyone would get on the back of Griffith. We’re being outplayed due to a rigid game plan. If we are made look like witches hats in the last quarter it’s because opposing teams take risks and play with flair, and last year that wasn’t the case. Teams have worked us out. I think Griffith is doing a tremendous job. On the injury front we’ve once again been blessed. A result largely attributed to Griffith. Fantastic effort.

We have a ruckman as a forward coach, we have a forward pocket as a midfield coach, and we are splurging 700k on a back up ruck. That’s what I call wasting a window.

Grundy to MFC just defies logic. We already have an established ruck. Best in the league. Gawn isn’t a good forward and neither is Grundy. Both are just sole rucks. Why we would pay top dollar for an excess big man that we don’t need, whilst desperately needing to recruit a key forward - it’s beyond me. It’s actually just stupid. Reminds me of the Lakers recruiting Westbrook. Just a bad fit that would never work, and now they are stuck with a fat contract they cannot move. If rumored numbers are correct we’ll be paying 700k for a second ruck. Just plain bad list management.

The way we’ve gone this year I’d be more surprised if we weren’t chasing Grundy.

Won us a flag . Just sayin
That was last year, which has zero relevance right now. Teams are making us look very basic in 2022. Our game plan has been dismantled, taken apart, and exploited.

Basic under 11 game plan. No dare. Too predictable.

Hands down the best player I’ve ever seen in red and blue. His ability to just will himself to win contest after contest is immense. Also kicked 2 clutch goals.
A unicorn wrapped in magic.Second best midfielder I have seen. Ablett jr the best. Should’ve won 5 brownlows

Pointless season really. We are the only team capable of beating Geelong but we are too basic. We will have to endure similar learnings to what Geelong has. We were fortunate to have a purple patch last year. Liken it that purple patch to Tom Boyd’s final series of 2016. Bullies were satisfied, their window is done now and them finished. We will follow a similar trend unless acknowledge our purple patch of 2021 was just a fluke. It’s all it was.

Not a chance based on tonight that we beat lions, we have learned nothing from last week
Lions were pretty poor against the Saints. We could quite easily pinch that game up there, especially now we’re coming off a win. Our side is still traumatized from our past losing culture. When we come off wins we play better. We are a confidence team. Next week we’ll be up and about. Brisbane might be complacent. Pressure is on them.
