  1. It isn't just this forum. I just skimmed over 300 comments from 18 clubs worth of supporters... there was not one comment from someone calling this a remotely fair trade. I know it's only Facebook, but even most people can see that the Dangerfield trade was relatively win/win for those clubs in the long run. " Massive overs, the guy is a fringe player and a 3rd round selection at best" "you must think it's Christmas. Melbourne don't ever deserve to make finals." "I reckon bombers would of accepted pick 80 for him" "This is why Melbourne are the biggest joke of a football club the pay way overs on average players, first round pick for Dawes few years back and now an early second round pick for melksham , get ready for another season of mediocrity" " I would of been happy for him to be delisted but I'll take pick 25. " " If Melbourne ever had the plot, they have surely now lost it.." "waste pick 25 for a vfl player lol" "Bombers #winning melksham anything over $300k a year is abhorrent behaviour from Melbourne" "Best news ever. We even got a decent pick for the list clogger" I had to stop, it was seriously just pages of abuse. https://www.facebook.com/AFLTRDON?fref=nf
  2. By all accounts no other team would touch the contract we're prepared to pay him. We could just as easily have gotten him for free in the PSD.
  3. No need to panic until WADA finds him guilty.
  4. Curious how we're going to also get Bugg and Kennedy without getting Essendon's third rounder back. I'd think Collingwood will want something in the 20s for the latter, Bugg something in the 30's.
  5. Fingers crossed. Or, as mooted earlier, we're trading in a later second rounder somehow.
  6. /facepalm Essendon will be laughing their asses off behind closed doors.
  7. Surely Essendon are throwing in their third rounder. Surely...
  8. He said we're getting Prestia for Howe and pick 6?
  9. A former pick 4 who hasn't lived up to his potential after 3 years is quite different to a former pick 10 who hasn't lived up to their potential after 6 years. In no universe are they like-for-like on the trade table except in Dodoro's eyes (and that's exactly the reason you know they aren't like-for-like).
  10. Toumpas for... Melksham? Uh... yeah, I'd rather take a punt on Toumpas coming good.
  11. To be honest, if no clubs are interested in trading their first or second rounders for Watts, wouldn't we just wait until he's a FA next year and run away with the compensation pick (likely band 2 or 3; between pick 19 and pick 30)? He's shown glimpses this year that the penny's finally dropped; let's see what might happen after McCartney gets a full pre-season with him.
  12. If he can clean up his kicking he'll be valuable for them in a Travis Cloke kind of way. He did kick 4 goals in their last final IIRC.
  13. He doesn't do himself any favours with the long greasy hair and moustache. I mean, really kid. At least try.
  14. He looks so natural with the ball in hand. Anyway, how about that Milkshake chap?
  15. Only because we were embarrassingly inaccurate. We lost that game, they didn't beat us as such (if that makes sense). I'm not in denial!
  16. Well, except their once-in-a-generation future key power forward.
  17. Essendrug are certainly doing a good job stealth rebuilding their list by turfing out WADA infected players every year. Not sure the likes of Gwilt, Cooney and Chapman are sending them in the right direction though.
  18. That's... a stretch. He was the whipping boy of the Bombers long before asking for a trade.
  19. Almost every Facebook and Twitter comment section is filled with Bombers supporters basically celebrating that he's out the door.
  20. Well based on his Twitter he's coming to us. He certainly wasn't as fast as Mitch Clark to disown his current club though.
  21. There isn't a living football supporter that would take VDB over Wines, although they possess many similar attributes. Nonetheless, it's a good reality check that there are seriously good players out there; we just need to get better at finding and identifying them. Unfortunately, the success of VDB sent 17 other clubs into a frenzy, pushing them out into the minor leagues trying to replicate our success. Taylor would be doing VERY well to replicate a recruitment of equal success in this draft.
  22. Geez the benefit of hindsight. Who the hell would we have taken with pick 4 if given the choice now? Wines. Macrae or Stringer? Fairly sure if Roos was around a year earlier then Wines would've been the exact archetype of midfielder he loves.
  23. IMHO you don't trade pick 24 for a depth player. Michie and Riley were good examples of depth players we picked up for loose change. Ergo, the club wouldn't see Melksham as a depth player (certainly not with the reported contract offer).
