  1. Great reports. Thanks. We are looking good having a turbo Porsche and a Rolls Royce in the midfield this year.
  2. Thanks Flintoff was rushed back before time unfit and as Captain. Its great Cook is out of form. It puts more pressure on Strauss particularly if Bell is at 3.
  3. If ever there was a time for a potential player to score runs or take wickets its NOW over the past month. Its no good relying on averages over the past couple of seasons if they dont make runs at the critical times. i have always thought that was Brad Hodge's failing (apart from not playing for NSW! ) White M Hussey and Hauritz really have not done themselves any favours. I am not so sure that D Hussey is out of the picture. Hitting a ton only brings you into focus. I do prefer Ferguson and other young NSW player (name blank) Can anyone recall what they did when Trescowthick left the last tour early? Did they move Cook from the 3 to open?
  4. ND - Best Available with all picks. RD - Depending on what we get in the ND, I would rookie senior players who can play fwd ruck and possibly a small running defender with good disposal skills. I would not stuff my Xmas stocking with mature age rookies. The FD should be judicial. They should use the other rookie spots on young players or players who have yet to make it in the AFL. IMO. Eddy and Anthony are not the players I believe we need.
  5. Might even give a shephered Alistair Clarkson style. It was a 1 week injury at first...a minor hamstring pull. It then went to 2 weeks then 3.....Oh Oh its out to six weeks. At 34, your body tells you...... Grimes injury was a full blown hanstring tear. It was far more serious than the one week niggle Junior had. Fair comment rpfc on Bruce.
  6. Clearly missed by some. And given he is questionable on the field performances are backed by off field issues I am sure DB is on the phone to him now. Post of the week. Well done.
  7. Exactly. And for that reason you dont waste rookie spots on types like Eddy and Anthony.
  8. We should have rookied Andrew Lovett last year then. Thank god the FD has a few more scruples than shown here. While the CFC statements are unusual and questionable. Anthony was a one trick pony and has been exposed on the footy field as a definite NQR. And what has been known for sometime is that he has both attitude and cultural issues. And for a Club that houses Swan, Beams, Didak, Shaw and co with all their off field traits the comments by CFC should be ringing the alarm bells louder. Caveat Emptor should be in bold and lights
  9. Thanks. So he is a drifter between forward and back. Neither one of the other. He may not have nailed a position in their final push to a flag. Where was he critical to the Dogs line?
  10. I was hoping no one would say "Lets get him" <<Smacks forehead>> I will just put it down to that poster's sarcasm meter not working. B)
  11. Whether he is or isnt part of a GF side in 12 months in no way vindicates or crucifies the Club stand. Its the wrong metric.
  12. 15 goals is worse. The Bulldogs (sans Hall and Grant) have looked impotent up forward in 2010
  13. You didn't switch the meter on when you used the sarcasm!! 15 goals in 2010 from 19 games and 38 goals in 2009......Hmm!
  14. I think the Club has handled each of the departures fairly and with due respect even if in some cases that was not forthcoming from the senior player.
  15. Of course you include it. The terms of the option would have a contractual value to both parties. He has one from HFC. He doesnt from MFC He wont earn the same money he was on in 2010. But it is likely that either the offer from Hawthorn was more than MFC's offer of 1 year. That was Redleg's point. It is very muc that way when you dont understand the interests of both parties. At 31, a one year contract is a one year contract. Its not solid at all. And there is a chance we will make the finals but no certainty. There is no should Great summary. But it is amazing some of the denigration of a 10 year 200+game Bluey winner and MFC life member. Some cant help themselves.
  16. I think Smith is a better bat than bowler but not a number 6. I thought I read somewhere that Smith is carrying an injury in the short form game. So why are they playing him in the longer form? What are the selectors thinking by selecting him? Agree there are better options in batting and bowling than Smith.
  17. Hahn has done little over the past 2 years and has been usurped by Grant and Hall. Football is a cruel game if you have lost form for an extended period of time and you are in your last year of contract at 29. I would have thought the opposite is the problem as the Bulldogs have held onto too much old wood for too long. Hahn was negligible in his contribution in 2010 and his 2009 was nothinh special. He was always in the gun come season end.
  18. Cameron White (Captain, Vic)Tim Paine (Vice-captain, Tas) Mark Cameron (NSW) Callum Ferguson (SA) Peter George (SA) Phil Hughes (NSW) Usman Khawaja (NSW) Shaun Marsh (WA, subject to fitness) Steve O'Keefe (NSW) Steve Smith (NSW) Mitchell Starc (NSW). Names in bold are on Test cusp. Why isnt Doherty there? I wouldnt pick Marsh if he isnt fit. Same goes for Smith.
  19. Your comment was on overall. MacDonald is so-so. Jurrah was the previous year to JoelMac and is an exception to the case but the rest of the PSDs in both years were very much same same.
  20. Not interested in Neagle. Has absolutely no interest at all in the contest (no 2nd efforts and poor off the ground) and is apparently indifferent on the training track.
  21. TJ with the gameboy maturity...Ugh <<Smacks forehead>>.
  22. No doubt. West Coast with their treatment of Judd when Cousins ran from the booze bus.... Essendon with one of their all time greats in Mathew Lloyd was pensioned off as Captain.... Adelaide with their treatment of Tyson Edwards....... Geelong with their treatment of Gary Ablett over the past twelve months.... Do you want more??
  23. I'm agnostic and its not just an issue about money. It also covers issue about opportunity at senior level, commitment to the player. You're narrow on the return maximisation. And as far as feeling dirty about things, neither Stan Alves or Greg Wells should feel the least bit dirty about their wonderful careers. Both players started at MFC, are both life members of the Club and are/were supporters of MFC but were well and truly shafted by MFC over their time at the Club. They must understand how Catholics feel.
