Enright will play another year.
Corey, Chapman and Hunt are done at Geelong.
-
If true, probably the least surprising choice possible, but I'll take it.

They were negotiating for an extension.
He had 1 year left on his contract, and St Kilda at the time were copping criticism for letting it get to that point when he was clearly one of the best coaches in the game
That's how I remember it. Haven't checked old articles to confirm.
-
Ross Lyon was contracted to St Kilda when he left for Freo.
-
Trust me.I doubt he will leave the Cats and doubt they will delist/trade him.
Won't reveal my sources, but he will not be offered a new contract at Geelong.
Hope we are "balls deep" in discussions with him, but at this stage I doubt it, since he's bent on staying at Geelong til they give him the official tap on the shoulder.
The only way he stays is if Pods goes, and while that's a real chance, even then he's not likely to get a new contract.
Chapman knows this.

$400k is about 4% of the cap next year.
So it is becoming less extravagant to pay someone that.
Yes, but with 40 odd players on your list, they average 2.5% of the cap each.
Obviously the players aren't equal, but there's a large difference between 2.5% and 4% for a kid going into his 3rd year.
I'd pay it, but I think the 4% should be put in context.

McKenna today saying Swallow is contracted til 2014, but is close to signing an extension for another couple of years.
Either he's nowhere near our grasp, or the Suns are giving a "hurry on".
-
George Stone also won an Achievement Award at the Coaches Assoc Awards Dinner on Tuesday night, for his work at Hawthorn and Sydney, acknowledging his "broad contribution."

Source, DD? Is this now a done thing as of last night and merely yet to be announced?
I read it somewhere earlier tonight.
Maybe Caro's article?
Sydney will concede we can have him since he commutes from Melbourne for work.

So does that mean you see a Head of Footy Ops and a Director of Coaching role in the future FD, M?
Yes.
GMFO & DOC, similar to how it set up now once the senior assistant is in place.
In fact, pretty much identical, except the SA will officially be the HC.
-
Uh, yep.
Been reading about Stone coming to the dees on 'land for over a month now.
I believe it too.
Just a matter of time...

What fascinates me is the decision being based on a recommendation from Evans, when the AFL had previously announced the new priority pick system was to be based on a "secret formula."
Secrecy because it doesn't exist...

Roos has said that once his successor takes over, that he would move into a "Director of Coaching" role, and I'm guessing will still report to the CEO with the senior coach reporting to Roos.
I imagine he sees this as being the natural evolution of a football dept, much like a "Manager" in EPL.
Just my opinion.

I don't think there are any "dud" candidates.
There will just be one that is seen as being better than the others.
The best part is that we'll have at least 2 years to make sure he's not another "Neeld" before he takes the reins.

Adam Simpson was a premiership player under Pagan, a captain under Laidley, and an assistant under Clarkson.
-
Dew wasn't an assistant under Clarkson, unless it was while he was playing.
Went straight to Sydney after retiring as a player.

$400K per is a lot, but if we need to do it to get him over the line, I'd do it.Fair bit of cash flying around for Taylor Adams. Murmurs of $1.2 mill over 3 years .... Would be ideal for Dees.
PSD, that is.
Worth the extra outlay that way.

SO many dumb people in this thread
He is coming back as a line coach - we haven't bought him back to play.
Shaking my head....
I wouldn't be so quick to call people dumb...
He was hired as a development[/] coach, not a line coach.

yes we must trust PJ... but I spoke to Josh Mahoney mid-season and he said all travelling ok and with a bit more luck we will be competitive. I almost decked him ... LUCK!!!!
What the hell did you expect him to say?
Honestly, some people are just strange...
I called this ages ago
Knew he would stay on and get the gig, he is a very smart operator.
Yeah, I think he comes across as an intelligent and capable operator.
I was all for Geoff Walsh due to his excellent CV, but if we can't have him, I'm not unhappy with Mahoney.
Especially if PJ has signed off on it.
Congratulations Josh, it would seem you've earned it.

Eddie gave it to us a "home game " every year.
We do not have to share the gate every other year!
Eddie is not the enemy in this instance.
I'm sure Eddie likes to spout that its at his behest, but the AFL would make that decision.
"Eddie, we give you only give you 1 Sunday game a year - the dees need QB and that's how it's gonna stay."

why does the AFL financial assistance package keep getting smaller?
didn't it start over the $2M mark?
DHs like Barrett reported it as being $2.7mil because it suits their agenda.
There was never any official statement it would be that much.
I do recall PJ about a month or so ago (maybe when on OTC) saying the figure was being pumped up by the media and was only a out $1.4mil

If it's to be Adams (my preference), I'd send pick 2 and Jamar to GWS for pick 9 and Adams.
I know Jamar has minimal currency, but with Jolly expected to come on board, we need to move him, and I think GWS will want him to replace Brogan.
-
#%£& it.
We either get better next year, or we're just as bad and we get a priority pick then in a "super draft".
We move on.
