  1. Interesting article in today's Age: Danihers critical of Hird's role I suspect the club would be fuming. I can just picture Tim Watson taking Anthony aside and saying 'WTF did you have to say that, and contradict my statement that all parents of the players were fine with what happened.'
  2. Whilst a rotating banner would be possible - done with Flash, javascipt or as an animated gif - it would not appear on most mobile devices.
  3. I thought I heard Sandy Roberts say (on a news promo on SEN) about 4pm that there was 'a twist' in the Liam Jurrah case.
  4. Great - this is all we need. HUN article which I guess only subscribers get to view. 'THE racism crisis engulfing the Melbourne Football Club deepened after its major sponsor (Ben Polis - Energywatch CEO) admitted to making a series of slurs against Aborigines, Asians, women and Prime Minister Julia Gillard. ' You'd think that we may have to cut loose one of our few major sponsors.
  5. R.I.P Jim. You've left a great legacy. Condolences to Sam and all Jim's family.
  6. I was speaking with Nev Jetta's dad at Etihad. He said Nev had done ankle ligaments and would miss up to 10 weeks. He reckons he'd need an op. Long time for ligament damage, and I haven't heard of an op being necessary,
  7. Mark Neeld game plan returns Melbourne to the 1980's
  8. Good exposure: http://www.heraldsun.com.au/news/more-news/big-men-little-footy-fans/story-fn7x8me2-1226288904842 I assume it's in the hardy copy.
  9. 'Whilst they give their all I dont rate either of Rivers or Bartram.' +1
  10. What about if Andy designs a banner for the new iMac 27" screen (2560 pixels wide)? That way we could accommodate all 39 players!
  11. 'I would hope that Demonland is not going to be designed based on the size limitations of a hand held device By all means make some small allowances or provide alternate mappings for such devices but lets not make such devices a limiting design consideration' daisycutter, I design websites. You have to cater for the 'lowest common denominator' when it comes to screen sizes, which is 1024 pixels 9wide). The Demonland site uses a variable width template (unlike most websites), so that the banner adjusts to the resolution of the device, but if the player images extended beyond 1024 pixels then they would not all be in view on ipads, iphones and older computers. More and more people are veiwing sites on portable devices (iphones and ipads) and it's best if a website cater for this. Prior to Andy doing a massive amount of work in upgrading the template last October, the DL site looked ordinary on portable devices. You could not see the 'sign in' box for example. That's my opinion.
  12. Andy What about this (below)? I'm sure Jimmy would understand.
  13. One small issue is that the template used for Demonland is a variable width template which means it adjusts to the screen width of the device being used. The player image part of the banner is approx. 900 pixels wide, and if you veiw DL on an iphone or ipad which has a screen width of 1024 pixels, Beamer only just appears. Unless Grimes replaces an existing player eg Beamer or JW and instead is simply added at the end (as DD has done), he will not appear on the aforementioned devices. My suggestion would be to replace JW with JG. DD may also notice that players on the RHS of the banner face left, so I'd think there would be a better image of Jack available.
  14. Just the man we need to tackle (pardon the pun) the likes of Swan and Judd.
  15. Article in The Age along the same lines. Methinks the lines of Davey and Bennell won't step up. Sylvia will, Watts might.
  16. Link A short fluff piece. My feeling is that the club handled it poorly, and there was little gained by sacking DB rather than waiting until his contract expired. But we'll probably never know the whole truth.
  17. My tip is that we will play someone like North where members from both clubs will get entry - North in lieu of their Tassie game/s and us in lieu of our Darwin (?) game. I reckon North are due for a home game in round one, and I reckon we'll play them twice. I doubt we'll play Hawks twice.
  18. ApoIogies if covered elsewhere: I assume that we will be using our first draft pick next year (or one of them) on Jack given that we will have to match any other club vying for him and he's odds-on to be a first round selection? I wondering if we could use our mid-round compensation pick if that was higher in the order ie if we have picks 8 and 10, can we use 10?
  19. There was a winner last year. It may be a tad harder this year.
  20. Given the tens of hours work that Andy has spent this week on the s/ware upgrade, I reckon it's an opportune time to mention Demonland subscription. I sent off $40 this morning and I urge fellow Deevotees to get on board and 'put your money where your posts are'. The link is on the navigation bar below the site banner.
  21. I'm really happy that Josh Mahoney is staying on. I'm not sure how many people heard him on ABC radio last Sunday arvo. He was in the studio where he did a lengthy interview talking about our list. He, David Parkin and Gerard Whateley (?) reviewed the lists of all the clubs that missed the finals. I thought he was very impressive and that it would be a shame if he was lost in a 'clean-out'.
  22. Restrictions imposed by the mods prevent me from giving his name. I was just going to list 'Jack' as my favourite players given that covers about half our team. BTW I can seem similarities between Sam Blease and that bloke wot has gone to Rooty Hill, so I hope after a couple of rounds next year I'll be adding him to my favs.
