Harrison Petty
I said if Petty couldn’t beat any of the Cat’s four less experienced back man he didn’t deserve a spot. On current form I agree with you - he wouldn’t beat any of them.

Harrison Petty
Miller played on Petty. Miller had 9. 7 and 5. (disposals, marks, tackles).. Petty had 6,3 and 1. i watched Petty closely as I don’t believe he’ll ever make a forward. He was lost. Miller dragged up the ground at every opportunity. Petty’s best game post round 20 (6 goals) was round 2 v Hawks when he had 12,9 and 1 playing as a back man.

I haven’t seen much of the Cats. I looked at where Holmes has been named. Rounds 1 and 2 wing. Round 3 F. Rounds 4,5,6 and 7 HB. Petty has been playing HF.

Of the Cat’s back six the only two players IMO that could match Harrison would be Stewart and Tuohy. I doubt he’d be playing on either. If he can’t beat Holmes, Guthrie, Henry or SdK he does not deserve to be in the seniors. Similarly the Blues have a very ordinary back six save for Weitering and Williams.

I’m all for Petty going back to Casey until he is fit and kicking goals. However a major consideration if that were to happen is who he plays alongside. One or two of BBB, Schache, Sestan, Jefferson or Fullarton have to move out of the forward 50. We can’t continue to carry a player who is having no impact - one goal in four games forward. Not taking marks, not tackling, not fit enough to chase. Sub against Geelong. Fullarton to start and subbed out if not succeeding.

PREGAME: Rd 08 vs Geelong
I doubt Petty will be dropped but he’s a liability when played on the forward line. I watched him closely tonight. Almost appeared disinterested. I reckon he needs to return to the backline in order to get his confidence back. NFI whose place he takes ~ Rivers to the wing? Correct about Woey. No point of difference and poor decisions a worry.

PREGAME: Rd 08 vs Geelong
Agree on Petty. Must play at Casey as a back man. NFI on how to play forward. .You need to read the commentary on the Casey game. BBB and K.Brown both poor. McAdam needs another run in the VFL. Maybe a Blues debut. Fullerton not bad. Can’t be worse than Petty. Unfortunately, like Petty, glacial slow (apparently). Can’t remember a game when JvR has ‘clunked’ his marks.

Great commentary guys. I’d given up on any chance of Fullerton making the grade given the numerous negative assessments leading up to this game. Licking my lips at the thought of McAdam and Kosi lighting up the ‘G sooner rather than later.

No need to apologise. I’ve never be a fan. Not sure he’ll be on our list next year.

Am I correct in assuming one of Tholstrup, Brown or Hore will be held over for tonight's game?

PREGAME: Rd 07 vs Richmond
We have shown we can cover most positions on the ground when we lose a soldier - Clarry, Gus, May, Fritsch, Kosi etc. The only time we lost Max we had Grundy to step in. Currently we have not one player to step up as first ruck. It just needs to be someone big and strong who can compete. Who knows, our mids may win more clearances playing with a losing ruckman. if it comes down to Schache or an untried Fullerton I’m voting for the latter.

PREGAME: Rd 07 vs Richmond
It's not a bad example because almost every game Max plays he dominates the hitouts but we lose the clearances or they're close to even. That was the case in the two games we lost to Carlton last year. I wasn't suggesting Max rest forward. He appears to be resting on the bench or spending very short stints across half back whilst JvR rucks forward of centre. JvR is listed as 96kg. Witts, Briggs and Pittonet are listed as 107, 108 and 110kg respectively. JvR can't be expected to alternate, albeit for short periods, between CHF and ruck where he's competing against men 10, 11 or 12kg heavier (and taller, and stronger). Yes, I know he may be up against the opposition's second string ruckman, but not always. And if Max goes down, then what? I'd prefer to blood Fullerton this week rather than against strong and experienced opposition. The alternative is to wait until the Eagles game (and that match might be tougher than we thought 2 weeks ago).

Possible Casey line up KC or Werridee?

Bye weekend - watching 1987 finals
I can't think of an occasion I've enjoyed more than the last round against the Dogs. I'll never forget the roar that went up when Dunstall booted the goal against Geelong that meant we would be playing finals.

Death Ride 2.0
I'm death riding the Crows solely for the reason that a move there by Petty could be less appealing, more so if we were to make a PF. BTW the Crows had picks 8 and 17 in the last draft, and I very much doubt that a pick/s swap for Petty was considered.

PREGAME: Rd 07 vs Richmond
It's not about giving Max a chop out. Rather it's the fact that our following two opponents (Cats and Blues) have genuine ruck combos - Stanley/Conway and Pittonet/TdK. And I'll repeat myself - JvR is either a KPP learning his craft, or part time forward and back up ruckman. I have no problem with Roo taking the ruck contests in the forward line as BBB has done, and that may still happen.

Harrison Petty
My mistake. Petty played primarily in the backline following the ANZAC game last year.
