Realistic 23 for 2026
Lots to be excited about! Some really nice young talent there and with 4 first round picks in the next two years I’m pumped for the future. Also excited for next year without the burden of expectation.. can just enjoy watching the team grow up under a new exciting system. New Dawn. New Day.

Realistic 23 for 2026
You have some talent on that bench.. I’d been quite forgetful of AMW, I reckon he starts over CJ. Melk over Sparrow maybe? Though I appreciate the run that’s required.. don’t know if he has the legs anymore. Would consider Rivers over Langford in the middle for now, Langford back to the wing and Langdon on the bench.. can all rotate amongst themselves.

Bailey Humphrey
Exactly. If it was always about Humphrey, then if it doesn’t happen there is nothing saying we’re forced to take the next best option.

Bailey Humphrey
I’ve started to wonder this myself. If we have gone so hard at Humphrey, as DF has so generously suggested, then if it doesn’t come off why not back down. There has been no suggestion that Trac is aggressively agitating to leave, just that he would if he could. And the club has said they continue to love him as well. Humphrey or Trac would be a fine outcome either way for me

Bailey Humphrey
Why do they hate us so much…

Farewell Clayton Oliver
Probably worth also stating that Simon Goodwin, Adam Kingsley ain’t.. There will be no Clarry kid gloves at GWS
-
Farewell Clayton Oliver
I’ll also add that throughout 2025 when Clayton repeatedly slammed the ball on to his boot directly to an opposition player, which often caught us on the rebound, I often said to myself that he might find the ball but he kills us when he does. I need reminding of that. He was miles from a winning player this year.

Farewell Clayton Oliver
We have to turn the page. We saw this year that the team with Petracca and Oliver was no longer going to work. It’s painful, but it’s the new brigade’s team and that is indisputable to them now. Hopefully they can rise to the occasion under King.

Farewell Christian Petracca
I’m torn. The fact it’s a supposedly weak draft makes me nervous, otherwise I’d be fine. It’s not like we would be total babies in the middle though. We still have Viney, despite his limitations, and obviously Riv who is a senior player now. Langford, Lindsay and Windsor still have space to develop. So it’s not the total disaster some are making it out to be.. but I would obviously still prefer Humphrey who is more of a known quantity.

Farewell Clayton Oliver
I took that to mean he’s off the reservation and not communicating with anybody

Farewell Clayton Oliver
I don’t actually believe this, but is there a chance this is some grand stitch up by Clayton to make the media look like [censored]? Would be evil genius if it was.

Farewell Clayton Oliver
Pretty sure based on what we’ve now seen that Clarry has the perception, self awareness and communication ability of a two year old. Who knows what he thinks he was told or what he relayed.

Can I just say, you should all be very proud of the excellent gif use today. Truly excellent.

These trades don’t happen in isolation. If Suns start edging that way, then MFC say to them in no uncertain terms we will not accept picks and if they trade with the Pies, Tracc stays in Melbourne. Suns lose.

Farewell Clayton Oliver
This is Langford, Pickett, Windsor, Rivs etc team now.

Farewell Clayton Oliver
Firstly I don’t accept he was “booted” out, he was finally challenged (as opposed to coddled by Goody) and he threw his toys out of the cot like a petulant 2 year old. Secondly, it’s ok to be upset, it’s another thing to spit in the eyes of the people who cared for you (supporters, Gawny) on the way out the door.
-
Farewell Clayton Oliver
The level disrespect this exhibits towards Max Gawn is appalling. Dragged the club and him through hell and this is his response. Immature. Petulant. A disgrace.

Farewell Clayton Oliver
My view has evolved a lot over the past 12 months, especially these last few weeks. I was absolutely on board with supporting Clayton through his issues, and aggressively pushed back against anyone who said he was an adult and needed to get on with it. Mental health is complex. But it’s still a two way street. Just because I’m prepared to support you doesn’t mean you can take advantage in perpetuity. There needs to be growth, and and intent to repay that support. Clayton’s reaction to this alleged meeting shows he still has a long way to go. We supported him when his issues were most acute, now we need to give him our blessing and move on. The club can’t be held hostage to his troubles forever.

Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver in 2026
While I was 100% behind the club supporting Oliver through his issues, I’m now 100% behind the club making the players accountable for their own actions. The club comes first, and the attitudes from both Petracca and Oliver (in this instance and all prior) suggest it’s them first, then the club.

Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver in 2026
So King effectively told him that he’s not playing to the level, that he has to earn his place in the team and instead of taking it as a challenge to get better, he cracked the sads and went straight to the media to throw us under the bus. Got it. Shocking attitude, he can go.

Melbourne Football Club - The CEO
What a junk piece of so called journalism

Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver in 2026
I’m actually quite positive Petracca if Buckley is coach. Remember he was a pies fan growing up, so I imagine Buckley is one of his heroes.. if anyone can put the acid on him, then it’s Buckley who would naturally command his respect. Perhaps more than any other. In fact, with that in mind, I see a case to make him the next captain under Buckley.

POSTGAME: Rd 24 vs Collingwood
I understand the emotion around it because I find it very frustrating as well, he’s just not anywhere near as physical as he used to be. Good reason to get a new coach, find someone who can motivate him again. And Oliver, the kids etc Bye bye 2025.. one of the most disheartening seasons of recent memory.

Simon Goodwin Sacked
Over the past 24 hrs I’ve had this nagging feeling that we made the wrong call, despite believing we had to do it… That interview helped ease my concerns. If that is representative of the broader feeling among the players, then hopefully the damage to the playing group is contained. Finding myself quite anxious about this weekends game.. would be so disappointing to be blown off the park.
