  6. I often get asked how much it costs to run the site and it is not cheap. You might have noticed that we are no longer crashing on match days during our peak activity and that is because we doubled the specs of our server. The hosting cost approximately $170 a month and the message board software is approximately $500 a year. All up that's about $2500 a year and that does not count the time that I, Nasher and Whispering put in to the running of the site not to mention the moderators who do a thankless task. So if you would like to keep this site going and want to contribute see my post above for the options that suit you.
  7. Thanks George. The 4 best ways you can support Demonland is by: 1. Taking out a Demonlnad Subscriptions which removes the Advertising from the site, 2. If you are already a subscriber or would like to make a smaller contribution then you can make a Donation 3. If you would like to get something more tangible for your money then you can purchase some Demonland Merchandise 4. Keep contributing.
  8. It's hard to tell in text form but I'm hoping that the "there's no pressure on me to perform or anything like that" was said sarcastically.
  9. "This is the moment! This is the day, When I send all my doubts and demons On their way!" ~ THIS IS THE MOMENT (from the musical Jekyll and Hyde) Melbourne has been described as the Jekyll and Hyde of the AFL. As it attempts to clamber up from the basement of the competition where it has spent so many moments of despair, it continues to tantalise supporters with great highs only to disappoint them with unexpected lows. How can you explain its Round 2 performance against a lowly undermanned Essendon wedged in between games against two highly rated teams in GWS Giants and North Melbourne? The same question can be asked of the game against St Kilda just two weeks ago. You could put the inconsistency down to the fact that the team is one of the youngest in the competition and that's what you expect from inexperience. There's certainly some truth in that but there comes a time when even young sides must rise to the challenge and this week's game at the MCG against the Western Bulldogs is precisely that time. The Demons are in their own way tracking the Bulldogs of twelve months ago. At the start of 2015, they were a young team, unfashionable and not fancied to advance much, if at all, after a 7-15 record in the year before. Under new coach Luke Beveridge, they started well winning their first two games, got thumped by the Hawks and had a revelatory win in Sydney beating the Swans by four points in an unexpected result before losing to lowly St Kilda at Etihad Stadium after leading at one stage by 55 points. They went into a losing streak going down at the same venue against Fremantle and before losing to Melbourne at the MCG by 39 points in the equivalent round to this week's game. Going into their bye round in midseason they had five wins from ten matches before building up a head of steam to finish with fourteen wins – doubling their tally from 2014 and making the finals. I believe the Bullies had their moment in that game at the SCG when they beat Sydney away from home. I called it a revelation because of the nature of the win – a breakthrough against a leading team, one they were not expected to beat. Now, it’s Melbourne’s turn for their breakthrough. The time is right, they play a strong team that’s in good form but the Western Bulldogs have played all of their matches to date at Etihad Stadium. They have yet to travel interstate or to play on the big MCG which, despite the stands surrounding it, is still open to the elements. I sense they are vulnerable. And, this is the moment for Melbourne. 11. I played from Under 9s until Under 19s. Most of my footy was played on the bench, forward pocket and wing.
  12. There are 3 levels of Sponsorship. Gold, Silver and Bronze. They vary in price and rewards for the sponsors. Most players have Gold, Silver and Bronze sponsors and some only have one or two levels. Hunt and Wagner both had the Silver level available so I took it. When I went to the Season Launch dinner I sat on the sponsors table with Maxy as my family are Silver Sponsors for him. Wagner was placed on our table and at the time he did not have a sponsor. I don't believe the players get any financial benefits from the sponsorship. I might be mistaken but I believe it is just another fundraising activity for the club. The donations and Demonland Memberships are a way for the users of Demonland to help contribute to the costs incurred in running the site. I recently had to double our server capacity and hence the monthly expenses wnet up and I hope users have noticed that the site hasn't crashed on match day for the past few weeks. I have always said that if there is anything left over in the kitty I would donate it back to the club. Part of that helped to pay for the sponsorship of these players. The rest was out of my own pocket but I'm happy to share that with the Demonland community so that we can support these guys through their careers at the Demons.
  13. Also our banner was severely lacking in defenders so this evens it up nicely.
  14. They very well may be told to stay away from reading forums. I took umbrage to the implication that those boys in particular were told to steer clear of their sponsors.
  15. Hehehehehe. My family also sponsors Maxy Gawn so .....
  16. Demonland is proud to announce that we are now sponsoring Jayden Hunt and Josh Wagner. We look forward to many years following these two young players. Thank you to all of you have have contributed to this website through Subscriptions, Donations and Merchandise as I've always promised that any excess funds will go back into the club.
  17. I agree with the spirit of the article however we need to put the runs on the board. 3 of the teams we have beaten have been terrible and we were lucky to get away with a win in Round 1. There are great signs but we need to start winning the games we should win and take a few scalps along the way. The Demons ARE on the rise.
  18. I love all the possessions that resulted in a Ben Kennedy goal beginning at 6:11.
  19. Happy Monday. 11 minutes of goals from Saturday night. Enjoy. http://www.melbournefc.com.au/video/2016-05-09/rd-7-all-the-goals

  21. When a team visits Casey Fields, it has to be prepared for an inhospitable reception from the elements. Sometimes it's a howling, swirly breeze. Sometimes it's the rain that makes conditions tough and slippery. Add that to a team that happens to be at the top of its form and the visiting team knows it's in for a long, hard day. The Northern Blues should have seen it coming during the curtain raiser when their development league team was held to just three goals by an enthusiastic bunch of Casey Scorpions youngsters but they would hardly have expected to be held to an even lower score. And the game was virtually over in virtually minutes with the home side dominating the stoppages in the greasy conditions. Ben Newton, the man who was to be the hero of the day, whipped the ball out of the middle, passed it to Max King who converted in the opening minute. Further goals followed at regular intervals with the hapless Blues putting up little resistance as other heroes of the day emerged. Jack Grimes showed great grit and leadership. Jaxon Briggs, the Casey 23rd man, a mere slip of a lad at 176cm is a local kid who has pace and a strong engine. He announced himself with two goals in the opening term on his way to a total for the day that doubled that of the opposition. Sam Weideman, another young gun with a familiar name to football goers, juggled a mark and kicked truly on his way to a four goal tally. The lead at quarter time was 32 points and the carnage continued to the long break with the visitors still goalless with Newton continuing to dominate and Weideman booting another couple. Things didn't change much in the third quarter although Casey's scoring rate slowed down and the Blues ended their run of 12 consecutive goals in the shadows of three quarter time. It was a magnificent defensive performance by the Scorpions who were well led by the miserly Jack Hutchins and Lynden Dunn. Casey did not rest on their laurels in the end - they piled on another seven goals with Newton and Alex Neal-Bullen dominating the clearances. Briggs and Weideman added to their goal tallies and Chris Dawes in his return match after a long injury lay off got into the act and kicked a couple.
