Collingwood to develop Olympic park

Featured Replies

Just heard on channel 7 news about Collingwood developing Olympic park for themselves, I only heard half the story, how does this affect us? Also, Brunmby is a collingwood supporter and sits on atheltics australia board along with Eddie!

Are we ggetting stiffed again?

who cares what they do with olympic park...our new facilities will be next to olympic park and i didnt think that they could do a lot with olympic park that would add to their already extravagent facilities...what i find funny, is that we will be sharing Gosch's paddock with them and they will have to walk about 800m to get to the oval and walk straight past our facilities!

The news report said they are destroying the athletics track and putting in a football field, so they don't have to walk to Gosch's paddock.

Where are the athletes training and competing? The new stadium does not include a track as far as I know.

This could actually be a good thing for us. If Collingwood knock down Olympic Park and build an oval (which is what they are proposing) Melbourne will get Gosh's Paddock to itself!

The idea is Athletics Victoria moves to Bob Jane Stadium in Albert Park. This makes a bit of sense as it will be right next door to the Aquadic Centre.

If we were to claim Gosh's Paddock we might be able to make a little dosh with naming rights as Collingwood did. I think they called it the Lexus Rose Oval or something? Even though I'd hope Melbourne were not so material to combine a sponsor's name with that of a club legend.

I don't care what the filth do.

I do, because footy is a competition both on and off the field!

You might not like Eddie, but since he's arrived at the helm of the filth they have seized the initiative time and time again.

Administration, Facilities, Marketing, Sponsorship...they have outpointed us for years.

I [and I suspect many others] have had a gutfull of that!

The new stadium and its facilities will be a great boost to our playing list, whilst thats being built let's all think of postive ways to help the MFC. Most of our ideas may not see the light of day...but some might.

And our enthusiasm can only give heart to our more tepid supporters.

Yesss!!! Collingwood's sloppy seconds! Beaut!

It's a ground, it has grass and goal posts... what more do we need?

You'd prefer to share with the filth?

Who do you think would get preferences regarding training times etc.?
