Guys, working from the other side of the world here, trying to catch up on news. Is it confirmed that he'll announce something on Monday or is that just speculation?

Posted

When I rang sportsbet they told me they had suspending taking bets on Judd because they had been told that his announcement was pending. I reckon it also might have had something to do with the fact that there are persist rumours that Melbourne have already negotiated a three-way trade for him - or because there was a huge dump of money on Collingwood today that put them out as favourites before betting was suspended

Guy at Sportsbet wasnt sure exactly when the announcement would be - but I got the feeling it was as soon as tomorrow morning from the guy. And he laughed when I asked him if they'd actually heard where it might be. (He said it was anybodies guess)

Like everything to do with Judd, it's pure speculation.

We know nothing, in fact, unless your name is Chris Judd, it's fair to say that you know nothing.

Maybe even Judd himself has no idea what is going on!

speculation, but as betting has been cancelled it points towards it and hutchinson said on friday that it would be announced on monday.

Interesting.

If the suspended betting has come on the back of Melbourne plunges then it's a good sign. Becuase of the size of Collingwood's supporter base you can never trut the market on anything Pies related, unless it's ridiculously large (and even then sometimes it can be crap).

Hutchy is usually pretty good with these things. He had the early word with Bailey.

Quietly confident.

The thing that i find perplexing is that we, Melbourne, are relatively small club compared with Collingwood. Yet almost every rumour doing the rounds everywhere has Judd going to Melbourne, including the trades that have been done and reliable sources that have been given.

I find it hard to believe that if he were heading to the Pies there would not have been some substantial leaks, considering the number of people who support the club at various levels. There is nothing showing up anywhere about Judd to Pies other than a few whispers.

But I am Chris Judd Senior. And Im glad your so keen for my son.

Nah in all seriousness all the Collingwood and Carlton threads think that his coming out way too - its weird.

I'm not worried - I know we will get him, but I can't divulge why (in someone's confidence). I don't know when it will be announced though. People that know me over at Demonology should know that I don't start rumours, or regurgitate hearsay or crap (actually, the latter may be debatable for some, lol). I hope this will make some of you feel better.

That said, I will apologise if it turns out he says he wants to go elsewhere. Regardless, if we hear that it's not Melbourne, that in all likelihood will not be the final word - we won't know until he is signed, sealed and delivered on paper - until we see him in a brand spanking new guernsey. There's a lot of chatter going on at the moment, mainly because West Coast want the best deal possible, and the only way this will happen is if multiple clubs go into bidding battle against each other. The most tangible senario is that he chose Melbourne a long time ago, but added 3 other (powerful) clubs to his list to get his price jacked up and not alienate himself from the many close friends he is leaving behind in WA.

Anyway, like I said, hope this will calm some nerves and make people feel a little better - for a while.

Chopper.

Fair Dinkum. This is driving me absolutely berko. My Dad's bald, but they tell me it's your mother's father who determines your hair situation. So I was hopeful that I wouldn't bald until I was 60 or so. Now, at 20, I am mere seconds from tearing my hair out.

How sure are you? And if you know we will get him, why are you conceding that you might be wrong? GAH. I hate when people do that!

Every rumour - every one of the claims of inside info all point one way. Go to the Collingwood forums or Carlton and all you see are melbourne and sydney supports arguing about whether Travis Johnstone is worth the pick - not whether he is going to melbourne or Collingwood.

One thing that has really annoyed me about this whole saga either way is how some reporters suggest that melbourne as the 'worst list out of all four teams contending.' - what a joke - we have one bad year the result of massive injuries and we are worse than Carlton and Essendon list wise - madness. THis time last year when we had recently cained the likes of Collingwood (again) and then the saints in that final of finals people accepted the fact that in terms of finals appearances in teh last ten years our team is ranked second in the AFL>

My advice, but out those articles and then send them to the author this time next year if we get Buchanan, Meeson and the prodigal son returned - Number 3!

Hello all,

I put a fairly large bet on Melbourne at $3 on Friday, so am biased but would like to discuss a few things.

Firstly I was out today, so would appreciate if someone could tell me what odds Collingwood and Melbourne were at when betting was suspended.

With supposed Collingwood plunge I am guessing that it could have been some punters hedging there Melbourne bets.

At the moment it is fairly clear that it is a two horse race (Melb, Coll).

$3 was available at sportingbet for a good few hours after all the rumours came out. So some large punters could have got set on Melbourne at $3 on Friday, and the proffesional thinking would be backing Collingwood today to ensure a profit if either of Melb or Coll gets Judd.

Another possibility is that the bookmakers could have been playing games to get some money where they want it. Eg they may have word that Melbourne had him, and by shortening Collingwood could suck some punters into backing Collingwood.

Either way I just can't see how he wont end up at Melbourne. The West Coast president has been quoted in saying the eagles wont deal with Collingwood. So even if Coll was Judd's first pick I am still confident he will end up at Melbourne.

The other thing is for Collingwood to get him they would need to do some serious trading (eg offload some stars) just to get the draft picks required to get Judd. The fact that we have not heard one Collingwood rumour suggests to me that the pies aren't even trying and have conceeded that he will be Demon.

Yeah, don't you just wish Chris Judd posted on Demonland?

Exactly - where are the trade rumours from Collingwood? Zilch from a team that rarely keeps any secrets...

Only other trade news I heard was Essendon wanting to offer Sumich a position with Judd onboard. Sumich named at Carlton means thats off the tables.

Can't say that fills me with confidence

You trying to give us one last moment of optimism before this all goes very, very pear-shaped? I appreciate the thought, but sadly it's not working.

We're shot, aren't we.

The Demons’ aggressive small forward who kicks goals and defends the Demons’ ball in the forward arc.
