are we delusional?

Every article I read about Judd always has a small paragraph stating something like, the Demons are still in the mix and 'they think they can get him' or ' they really believe they have a shot'. Derogatory stuff basically saying we're dreaming if we think he's going to go to us, all these articles end up saying he will go to eddiewood or the boos. I want to know why the media continue to laugh and not take us seriously. We need to, as a team and as supporters try to turn this demeaning attitude around because I for one am bloody sick of it.

I agree with the last sentence.

To answer the question in the just look at our history over the last 43 years and you'll discover why so few take us seriously.

That said, how are they different from around half of the posters here who don't rate us as any chance?

Thats because for some of us our whole lives have been watching melbourne just go, hardly ever really challenge, i mean in 2000 we made the GF but realistically essendon where the best team by a mile.

We don't expect as much due to we have not delivered in 43 years, nor really pushed it either.

Amen to that......

But there is a fine line between stating the disappointing truth about our current station in life and being completely disrespectful.

And I would think that the media down there are treading close to the latter, and that should never have to be tolerated.

And depite the fact we are all well aware of what we need to do it is poor form no matter what our history is  !!!

Even the Kangas dont cop the [censored] we do !! they live as nomads and reside in a 2 star hotel...even by our standards. ( no offence meant Roos !! )

Our lot is about to change, there's something in the air. Ive been perusing a bit of the other teams sites trying to gain other impressions of what and where etc re Judd. Hardly anyone respects us....anyone !!!

All thsoe smug bastards are in for one hell of a rude shock in the coming years..

Something wicked this way comes.................. and its wearing Red and Blue !!!!!

Yeah, but that makes them the fighting underdogs of the competition......

You know the backs against the wall, come out swinging, fight against the odds team. You know the "Shinboner" spirit. Sorry!!

We are just...... Melbourne  !!!

This all goes way back to discussions here and old board about the need for the club to promote the club....not in some namby pamby ...nicey nicey way... but with real teeth.. something...strong.. ...almost a little 'dark'.( tongue in cheek fashion ) ...something DEMONIC !!

Some real fire and brimstone stuff..

Something has to be said / done so people know.....Not to mess with us.....we're DEMONS !!

Even the Kangas dont cop the [censored] we do !!

It's because they're in a prelim smart guy.

Only reason.

they dont even cop it when they're not !!

We were in semis last year and we're still looked upon always as improbable imposters

Exactly right, we won't be respected proply until we hold up a premiship cup:wub:

Now people might Kanga's have played like crap past couple of years (excluding this one) but they have still had a cup in their hands alot more times than us in the past 43 years.

It is the sad reality of the outsiders perceptions.......

And it is definitely something that we as a club both inside and out need to change.

Although I don't expect it to happen with any immediate effect.

Peoples perception, right or wrong, are always hard to alter.

It's Game Day and the Demons return to the MCG to face the Tigers in their annual Blockbuster on ANZAC Eve for the 10th time. • PREVIEW: Richmond

A few years ago, the Melbourne Football Club produced a documentary about the decade in which it rose from its dystopic purgatory of regular thrashings to the euphoria of a premiership victory. That entire period could have been compressed in a fast motion version of the 2025 season to date as the Demons went from embarrassing basket case to glorious winner in an unexpected victory over the Dockers last Saturday. They transformed in a single week from a team that put in a pedestrian effort of predictably kicking the ball long down the line into attack that made a very ordinary Bombers outfit look like worldbeaters into a slick, fast moving side with urgency and a willingness to handball and create play with shorter kicks and by changing angles to generate an element of chaos that yielded six goals in each of the opening quarters against Freo.

  • NON-MFC: Round 07

Round 7 gets underway in iconic fashion with the traditional ANZAC Day blockbuster. The high-flying Magpies will be looking to solidify their spot atop the ladder, while the Bombers are desperate for a win to stay in touch with the top eight. Later that evening, Fremantle will be out to redeem themselves after a disappointing loss to the Demons, facing a hungry Adelaide side with eyes firmly set on breaking into the top four. Saturday serves up a triple-header of footy action. The Lions will be looking to consolidate their Top 2 spot as they head to Marvel Stadium to clash with the Saints. Over in Adelaide, Port Adelaide will be strong favourites at home against a struggling North Melbourne. The day wraps up with a fiery encounter in Canberra, where the Giants and Bulldogs renew their bitter rivalry. Sunday’s schedule kicks off with the Suns aiming to bounce back from their shock defeat to Richmond, taking on the out of form Swans. Then the Blues will be out to claim a major scalp when they battle the Cats at the MCG. The round finishes with a less-than-thrilling affair between Hawthorn and West Coast at Marvel. Who are you tipping and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • REPORT: Fremantle

For this year’s Easter Saturday game at the MCG, Simon Goodwin and his Demons wound the clock back a few years to wipe out the horrible memories of last season’s twin thrashings at the hands of the Dockers. And it was about time! Melbourne’s indomitable skipper Max Gawn put in a mammoth performance in shutting out his immediate opponent Sean Darcy in the ruck and around the ground and was a colossus at the end when the game was there to be won or lost. It was won by 16.11.107 to 14.13.97. There was the battery-charged Easter Bunny in Kysaiah Pickett running anyone wearing purple ragged, whether at midfield stoppages or around the big sticks. He finish with a five goal haul.

  • CASEY: UWS Giants

The Casey Demons took on an undefeated UWS Giants outfit at their own home ground on a beautiful autumn day but found themselves completely out of their depth going down by 53 points against a well-drilled and fair superior combination. Despite having 15 AFL listed players at their disposal - far more than in their earlier matches this season - the Demons were never really in the game and suffered their second defeat in a row after their bright start to the season when they drew with the Kangaroos, beat the Suns and matched the Cats for most of the day on their own dung heap at Corio Bay. The Giants were a different proposition altogether. They had a very slight wind advantage in the opening quarter but were too quick off the mark for the Demons, tearing the game apart by the half way mark of the term when they kicked the first five goals with clean and direct football.

The Dees are back at the MCG on Thursday for the annual blockbuster ANZAC Eve game against the Tigers. Can the Demons win back to back games for the first time since Rounds 17 & 18 last season? Who comes in and who goes out?
