Despite the 4-4 result on Monday night, I think you'll find Villa will cause a few surprises this year.

Up the Villa!

Come On You [censored] Spurs

Can't believe I was so ecstatic with a draw at home but the come-back against Villa was something special.

As soon as we find a replacment for Jol he will be up the door and we can start climbing the table again. It's been a shocking start to the season. I blame it partially on the manager, partially on the board not showing faith in the manager, and partially on not signing a quality hard tackling defensive midfielder.

How good is Gareth Bale!!:wub:

can't buy a win we can't!

was looking for odds on torres to score before the match, but couldn't find any. the guy is amazing. it would've eased the pain

i honestly think we looked really good, surely our luck will start to turn

[censored] last minute despair, can't hold on to a lead as usual.

When are we going to drop Robinson. He's the most off-form keeper in the comp.

  • Author

his mentality at the moment is very similar to that of the team. more concerned about maintaining a clean sheet rather than concentrating on each performance and effort - reflected by our inability to maintain a lead.

I say drop Robbo for a game or two, give Cerny a run. The two central defenders are starting to look better, Dawson is slowly returning to his best as his fitness increases, and Kaboul at 21 is getting better by the game.

Stop playing Tainio, get Lennon on and starting more on the right side, give Bale free reign to do whatever he likes on the left (the kid looks like a real quality player in the making), keep Berbatov and Defoe starting to further develop their blossoming understanding, and we'll win more games than we lose from here on in.

Oh to have Ledley King fit again too...

are everton a chance of making the top 4? we have a few injuries now, but a good line up when fit. discount the loss to newcastle. it was a fluke.

by the way, unless your going to talk about other clubs, i think you should change it to a spurs thread.

  • Author

we do talk about other teams, just their supporters are saying little at the moment.

i really like everton, love their passion and the way they play. with the injuries now i really even top 5 will be an issue, as i can't see anyone replacing the big four at the top end and i think to have a good shot you need to be starting your run very early.

i still can't write liverpool off for a top two finish, but i must say though it kills me, arsenal are looking the goods this year. so dangerous to watch!

  • 2 weeks later...

Watching Arsenal play is something else.....old Spurs yabber away about a top 4 finish....and at the moment they're in the bottom 3.....with a tricky away trip to Newcastle tonight....Darren Bent is a total waste of money....16 million quid...you cannot be serious....Arsenal sold Thierry Henry for around the same amount....either we got ripped off or Spurs have paid WAAAAAY above the odds for an average footballer at best...

I went to White Hart Lane a couple of times back in the 70's and 80's.....always a warm fuzzy feeling walking down the Seven Sisters Raod with a nother 3 points at Spurs expense!

"Jingle bells, jingle bells

Jingle all the way

Oh what fun it is to beat

Tottenham away"

was the song we sang the most!

You never know...spurs might go out and thrash the Toon tonight...I look forward to getting up at 5am tomorrow to watch the game on Foxtel

GO Gunners

I went to White Hart Lane a couple of times back in the 70's and 80's.....always a warm fuzzy feeling walking down the Seven Sisters Raod with a nother 3 points at Spurs expense!

Now thats a road I didn't like walking down late at night!!

The mighty reds stole the 3 points from the lads down the road at Goodison Park... good times!

Strange to see Rafa take off Stevie G for playing with too much passion... I think he was just resting him

  • Author

must say, watching the gunners play is quite ridiculous at the moment, they are just such a dangerous team going forward. certainly made bolton look a rabble...even more of a rabble.

i didn't think spurs would be top 4, though i also didn't see us being this bad. toons will be a tough match.

everton were unlucky i thought, another good performance and very unlucky with that last penalty shout. though reds look much better with torres methinks.

arsenal will have to keep a close eye on man u, they just keep ticking off the points

sh*t

Absolutely dreadful game defensively, at this rate we'd be lucky to escape the relegation zone let alone worry about finishing 5th again..

Bye bye Martin Jol???

Bye bye Martin Jol???

Still waiting for that to happen?..

Well its happened now. After Spurs dismal home display against Getafe Martin Jol and assistant Chris Hughton were shown the door.

Bizarrely, it seems word got around at half time of the game that Jol had been sacked, so the crowd sang chants to thank Jol during the second half, he even afforded them a goodbye wave.

Arsenal 7 Slavia Prague 0

Had to mention it on this thread.....even with all the Spurs fans that are on here....

No way known I expected a result like that.....1...2...maybe 3-0...but 7???

Just hope the mighty Arsenal cap off a great week by beating Liverpool at Anfield on Monday morning our time....

Still waiting for that to happen?..

Confirmed. Welcome Juan Ramos.. Fergie, Wenger and Jose rolled into one.

Just watched Arsenal and Liverpool draw in a cracker of a game at Anfield...Gerrard scored after 7 minutes with one of his free kick specials.....but Arsenal came right back and Fabregas poked home the equaliser on 80 minutes...After that Arsenal should have won...Eboue hit the post and Bendtner couldn't get the rebound in,,,

And Spurs got in more trouble losing 2-1 at home to Blackburn who scored in the last minute

Ramos takes over tomorrow and he has got some work to do

  • Author

arsenal proved again that an attacking team is never out of a match. steven gerrard proved again that he is a freak. interesting game, especially considering man u and chelsea's performances the night before, wil be interesting to see their progress in the next few weeks.

spurs league season officially ruined, bring on the cups!

Ramos is a great pick up for spurs, i believe probs one the top managers over the past few years, has achieved a lot with sevilla. But i do remember all u spurs fans getting excited about jacques santini, so we will wait and see

Confirmed. Welcome Juan Ramos.. Fergie, Wenger and Jose rolled into one.

To quote John McEnroe....."you cannot be serious"

In that case he is going to win the Premiership...The Champions League...The League Cup....

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Collingwood

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

  • AFLW REPORT: St. Kilda

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
